  1. Respect is earnt not given. The same goes for trust; it takes time to build it up. In the meantime new members should join in with the conversations going on in the various discussions. This helps establish their reputation. I for one am wary of a new member with a low post count jumping straight in with a sales thread.

  2. At least some got it ;)

Maybe it's the English humour? lol

What you have painfully experienced firsthand now is, that no matter how good something looks, what it is made of deep inside is what matters.

My advice is to raid your wife's jewelry box and "borrow" her Mikimoto pearls.  Measure them and find the one that most closely matches the diameter of the lost pearl.  The rest is up to your imagination.

Once the string is cut, the value drops exponentially.

Don't worry I've given her a pearl necklace, but I don't want it back!!!

  3. Nobody likes being scammed by a scammer, there's a-plenty of them around just itchin to take your hard earned money too. They tend to hide themselves very well too

They certainly do.  Now, if you want to buy a gen AAA+ Rollex Submariner send $100 gift payment to kernowRWG@gmail.com :D

  4. Ok guys, I need your help.

Recently I have become suspicious that my wife of nearly 10 years has been having an affair. She goes out without telling me where she is going and comes home late. She never dresses up nice for me anymore but goes out made up to the nines. I started to worry about a fortnight ago when she started making excuses in 'the bedroom'.

Anyway, rightly or wrongly I decided to follow her yesterday afternoon. She thought that I was working but I knew something was up so I crept out and managed to get to my car and follow her without her seeing me. She drove about 2 miles and parked up outside a house and climbed out of her car. I saw her straighten her dress before she walked to the door of the house and disappear inside.

I sat there thinking about all the good times we'd had over the years and felt myself becoming desperate. What would I do without her?

She finally reappeared what seemed like an age later. I glanced down at my watch and discovered that the pearl had fallen out. So guys, do I try and find a new pearl or just buy a new bezel insert? Noob V5 Sub BTW.

  5. For exmple, Mr Kernow, if you were to list a watch for sale stating "paypal gift unless I know you", I would be happy to send you gift based on your individual reputation, if I had been able to. No second thoughts. IF it is, however a new guy with 5 posts asking the same for the same watch at the same price, I would stay away.

We are a small and tightly knitted community where one gets known quickly for the way he is (or isn't). I recently had a member PM me asking me if I was interested in a modded AP ROO (he listed the mods with no pics) for $1500, payable only via transfer. I told him in no uncertain terms, albeit politely where he could stuff that watch.

You've hit the nail on the head my friend. I have bought and sold watches here with both gift and normal payments. During my first purchase here someone tried to scam me - but it wasn't a gift payment so I recovered my money via a PayPal dispute. The seller had asked for gift, but luckily I paid the fees. As always buy the seller/buyer first and foremost.

  6. Actually this works both ways. I am both a seller and a buyer. As a buyer, I would be willing to send payment as gift to a seller whom I know well enough.. it does save me 4%.(Though Paypal does not offer the gift option in my country) As a seller, I would insist on paypal gift or bank transfer when selling to a new or unknown guy, especially for high value watches. In this hobby, both the sellers and buyers are entitled to protection. Caveat Emptor remains the best advice when trading.

Yes, sort of. As a new seller (or buyer) you have to prove yourself. With a experienced seller (or buyer) I have no problem with a gift payment. Indeed it does work both ways.

  7. Hmmmmm, time to bump it up.

I've been into metal since I was old enough to choose my own music to listen too. It was a TV advert featuring Daley Thompson advertising Lucozade when the played Phantom of the Opera by Maiden. After that I went out and started buying mainstream metal. ACDC, Sabbath, Maiden etc. Later moved into Metalica, Megadeth. Now a bit of everything even Joe Satriani.

  8. With the thread in the Breitling area about the new Bentley. What interesting clocks are there in cars these days. All the cars I've had have had Quartz, either analogue or digital clocks - nothing interesting though.

I do hanker after a Singer Porsche 911 (964) with a Heuer clock.
