  1. Unfortunately I think it has to be "no." While I don't have a problem with the idea, I'm sure there would be a small yet vocal section of people popping up after the fact to complain and cry about a rigged contest.
  2. I think the key thing here is that the victim was a kid. 13 years old ffs, not exactly what you'd call emotionally developed yet, and certainly not old or mature enough to deal with manipulation from an adult. I truly hope the old hag burns in hell. Anyone who did something of this sort to my sister would not be making it to court, cyber walls don't do [censored] to a 165gr soft tip .308 slug, and that's what this lady deserves.
  3. Yup logo free and bead blasted goodness. The strap in question is "natural" color with a really great start to a patina already. It'll be my first "Nice" strap. I admit I've had a couple pam reps, and have one left (a new 229 which is just great looking) but I have a hard time wearing them around. I love watches, and I love tinkering, and reps are my way of tinkering with watches. It's funny, but to me they hold no value. Even though they "cost" more than my gen watches at the moment, I'd never consider tearing into my Black monster, but I have no qualms about digging into my 229 or my SSD and modding it if need be. That's why I'm finally treating myself to a sterile pam. I love the look and feel of pams, and I want one that I can wear around and actually afford. (Note my definition of afford differs from some people. I could buy a gen pam if I had to, but I don't think I could AFFORD it you know? It's like I've got the money, but there are so many other things I am/should/have to save for that I can't justify spending that much money on a luxury item at this point in my life.)
  4. But still... a pretty good deal IMO. Just picked up a used Europelli baseball strap for.... $35 with shipping! Of course I don't have any watches for it yet, but I'm going to be picking up a sterile pam to rectify that situation. So whaddya think? Good deal or did I get taken? Either way I'm happy.
  5. HAHA! It saved my dead daytona (along with some spare parts scavanged from another 7750 movt.) Thankyou for bringing that idea to the table!
  6. I've thought about that, and the rub comes down to the center seconds. Either there's no way to attach the hand, or there's no way to keep the hand static at 12. And to my knowledge, the only chrono movements with seconds at 6, and sub registers at 3 and 9 are the genuine daytona, and the a7750 w/ sec@6 module.
  7. Nice! even cheaper than just a movt. I'll have to ponder if I can live with a quartz watch. I haven't owned one since I got my first auto. But a reliable daytona...
  8. If it worked you'd end up with a daytona, seconds at six, that isn't a timebomb. And if anyone wants to explain how to pressure the dealers into making the watch you described... that'd be great. I never used the chrono on mine when it ran, and don't really care if that part of it works or not. I just can't stand a constantly running large seconds hand on a daytona. WHOA there's a quartz movt. that will fit?! Now all I need are some hands that will fit it. I've searched cousinsuk, julesborel, and ofrei, never could find a quartz that had the right subdial placement. Must have been looking wrong. Thanks for the tip!
  9. So I've been dying to get a running daytona again, but just can't bring myself to spend $400 on the CHANCE it will work for more than a month or two. Also the 21j daytonas bug me due to the constantly running large seconds hand. If I could mod that to stay at 12... I'd be set, however it doesn't seem too doable. After seeing some quartz Breitlings a while back it struck me: a quartz sec @6 daytona would be the poor man's best of all worlds. Thinner case, reliable movt. And accurate functions (though you probably wouldn't want to run that ticking chrono!) I mean I doubt it's terribly easy to see that little second hand is ticking. Then I saw these: http://www.ioffer.com/i/BMW-Watch-Daytona-...ipping-33950396 BADA BING! So is it a bad idea to order one of those up and drop in a daytona dial and crown/tube (and either scrap the hands or remove the red paint)? Any suggestions? maybe a dealer can get a pre-made quartz daytona?
  10. But wait... you never told me who has the best sub!
  11. Ok off work I'd keep the damn thing off. Period. If they complain you don't answer your phone explain politely that since they feel the need to track you so vigilantly on company time, you see no need to be tracked OFF company time, furthermore it'd be a waste of company resources to use a company phone outside company time. On company time, however, I don't see the problem. Perhaps it's just me, but if they are paying you to do something, somewhere, and they have the means of finding where you are, it's well within their rights to use it. They aren't hiding it from you, since you know the phone's capabilities. I know lots of factories and office buildings with cameras that run day and night, and I don't see the difference with these phones. If you don't like it, don't take the paycheck. Kinda like OTR truckers, I'm sure most of the company rigs have GPS in them.
  12. You know if by 1.2 eta stem you mean 7750 stem, I accidentally ordered a couple of those the last time I ordered from cousins UK. I'll have to start looking, might be able to find them. Never mind, just found them, they are .90 eta stems.
  13. Maybe but that won't solve the tracking beacon in your tooth. And you thought all they put in that "filling" was epoxy and colorant. Ha!
  14. Nice car (not enough of a fan of breitlings to know that's a good watch, but based on the comments it must be, so congrats) but I like my old 1998 more Though I do like the cf accents on the motor and on the dash. Tastefully done, not too ricer.
  15. Since I don't own either *yet* (got a 111 top-plate on its way from TWP) I can only say that based on pictures a modded TWP 111 looks nicer dial wise.Lots nicer. Not to mention the lume...
  16. It's really just about a more correct movt. Generally speaking the movements with snr also have a higher level of finishing on them. (notice the sunburst on the gears) They look more accurate. That's about it though. And if you're going to get a swan neck regulator, make sure it's got a dagger hand, not the standard one, blows the whole look right there.
  17. And there is no reason for anyone to use their fast cars off of the track. Lets make them store them there. And since they are so dangerous, let's add a month waiting period, and make the licensing much more stringent. After all a mishap in a car going over 100mph is a serious one, likely to include fatalities. Same goes for mudding trucks, atvs, and anything else that is dangerous. There is a need for them in sport, no doubt, but personal ownership just isn't safe. After all a perfectly sane man could take a drink and decide it's time to take his Camero out for a spin. Killing an innocent family for NO reason. Not even their car. And with this, I'm done with this argument. You obviously have your opinions, and will continue to back them with flawed logic. There is no way to debate a circular argument. You state that the us is beyond help. There are too many illegal guns already. But yet more laws are needed. How about simply enforcing the laws already on the books? If these idiotic laws WERE enforced/enforceable, there wouldn't be any illegal guns on the street. Period. Perhaps you've never faced a man with a gun before, but having had that experience, I can tell you this: I have never EVER felt so powerless for my own well being in my life. Here in Wisconsin you can't carry a concealed weapon, which leaves the law abiding citizen with nothing to defend himself against an assailant. I got lucky, the little pile of [censored] didn't decide he wanted to do anything to me. I was in a public park, in the middle of a photo shoot, and had he wanted to the kid could have walked off with my work's camera, our mac book, and a bag of lenses. So you can preach stricter laws all you want, but they won't do a damn thing but make more victims. That kid was not 21, he couldn't have legally owned that berretta, and even if he had, he legally couldn't have walked down the middle of a bike trail waving it in the air. And for the record, I called the cops, it took the local PD and swat team 10 minutes to get to where I was, and another 5 to catch up with the kid. Had he been out to prove something I'd be dead, my boss would be dead, and the models would be dead too. Why? Because idiotic laws strip law abiding citizens of their right to defend themselves. There is an overall violence problem in the US (IMO) and there are far too many assholes walking around with guns. And the way I see it, you can cower in fear and come up with feel good laws that convince people there is no WAY anyone could have a gun on them, or you can can stand up and fight for your right to protect yourself.
  18. Show me where it mentions regulation of use. The way I read it, it appears that the only stipulation as to the right of the people to keep and bear arms, is that right shall not be infringed. While organized militias don't trip my trigger, it's our right, much as it is our right to keep and bear arms. But where you are going astray here is assuming it's a symbiotic relationship. It isn't. An effective militia requires the right to keep and bear arms. However, the right to keep and bear arms does not require any relation to a militia. The amendment wasn't worded: "The right to keep and bear arms being the security of a free state, the right to form a well regulated militia shall not be infringed. However, even militia members must remove their arms when crossing in 500 feet of a school, and before entering an establishment with a class B liquor license." Had something to that tune been written I might agree with you. The founding fathers may not have been able to foresee the troubles that right has caused, but then they didn't see the internet coming when they wrote something about free speech. 2nd Amendment. Comprehend it mmmkay?
  19. Yeah,I have to wait a full 3 days to pick up my guns, and I'm in a pretty lax state. And someone mentioned something about it being too late to wind back the clock... AMEN. There are already so many guns in the hands of criminals, to remove or severely restrict them from law abiding citizens would do little to stop deaths from guns. That's something that always amazed me: If we've got all these laws in place concerning guns, and none of the criminals are following them (big suprise eh? A criminal who isn't obeying the law.) WHY in the name of God is adding another half dozen going to suddenly make the criminal stop. Take a double take, and swiftly turn himself in? All gun control can do now is make more victims. And to think it was a mistake is wrong. Look at the role firearms played throughout the history of the US. There is a reason we have the second amendment, regardless of what dumb shits and their "it's only for militias, NOT citizen" bs. They helped us conquer the west and innumerable other things, but I'm running late for work. I'll finish this later.
  20. That's pretty sad to hear andreww. The amount of loss when someone dies should NOT be measured by the means in which they died.
  21. So a self inflicted death is somehow less tragic than a death caused by another?
  22. Yeah you put one gun in there, someone will get shot at some point, only chances are it won't be just one person shot, it'll be as many people dead as the shooter can manage. Now toss 100 guns in the room. If anyone gets shot, you can be sure the undesirable element will be removed post-haste, problem solved. Why is it guns are so notorious? Everyone likes to throw out these pretty charts of how the more guns there are, the more people die from GSW. But have you ever looked at the bigger picture? Assault (all forms, not just assault with a gun)doesn't even make the top 10 causes of death in the US. The number 1 cause of death: heart disease. Where are all the sniveling liberals marching for the ban of fatty food? Where are the supporters of food control? I mean surely far more lives would be saved if people were forced to eat foods that aided health and well being. The number two cause of death? Cancer. Yet all the bleeding-heart liberal politicians continue to rake in the money on taxing cancer causing products like cigarettes. Where is the million mom march when it comes to soda? It's been proven to promote diabetes, the number 6 cause of death in the US. Guns aren't bad. They are inanimate objects. I happen to like mine very much, and I'd appreciate it if those who don't enjoy them would stop trying to remove mine. It's rude at best. Oh and when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. Be prepared to take care of yourself.
  23. Perhaps to spread the truth? Only someone a bit "slow" in the head thinks Hillary is a good choice for anything besides the occasional jab with a sharp stick. She is at best a ho-hum politician, and at worst an evil [censored]. Either way she's been as close to the presidency as she needs to be. She can't run a marriage, yet liberals expect her to run our country?! Thanks, but I'll pass on that one.
  24. I can see it now. Pug will wear the PO, someone will inevitably ask: "Is that a Rolex you're wearing?" Pug's response: "No, it's an Omeeeeeeega" Say it ain't so!
