Thanks but he didn't accept my little. Refund. But I'm wondering if I should I accept it and re Lume it. :)

Well that's the way reps are sometimes. Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield. I learned to be very careful and ask for extra QC pictures, and also refusing some watches during QC.

My first rep was a SubC Noob v3 from one of the biggest TD's. When I received it, the first thing that happened winding it up was declaring it dead. I had it repaired for 150€ but then it went +/- 5 secs for 2 years...

    I got 20USD refund. ;)

I would ask for a 20 USD discount on next purchase or something and just accept it.

Anyways... New dial or not. With genuine superluminova you will be very-very surprised. No rep dial even comes close. Flakey lume or not.

(it's actually a bit more lumey than genuine Rolex Chromalight, Zocker made a post about it on RWI)

  2. Since it's a modern re-lume we're talking about I would recommend:

    1) Kenny at http://www.rwg.bz/board/ has raving reviews (also he's in Europe)

    2) Dirk (Zocker....) over at www.replica-watch.info is really good (+ he's an expert when it comes to modern Rolex) (also Europe)

    It's somewhere around 100-150€.

If you have some free cash, (although the stock crystal is actually quite good) invest in a gen crystal. I think that Zocker can help you with that.

Then, there aren't any obvious tells to speak of.

The crown on the "rehaut" the part of the case that's between the crystal and the dial is not properly aligned. The Crown should be centered (aligned with the orange).

Also check all the inserts grooves. Is it dirt or is the grey/platinum color applied sloppy?

Another thing to check is the cyclops. Is it in line with the dial/case? Or is it crooked?

Last but not least. Check the SEL (solid endlinks) and their adhesion to the case. Look at a gen 166110 for reference what to strive for.

I've borroed a picture to give you an idea (this is a Noob v6s):

  4. Nope...

That's what jackal's are selling them for.

I don't know how well you know your watchmaker, but the prices I wrote in my first post is the price I pay to him. What he pays is most likely lower.

    • AR crystal: Rolex B25-295-CAR-C1 205 EUR from secret sources
    • Bezel insert: B315-116610-A1 160 EUR from secret sources

Yes, you forgot to mention where to get the insert! :D

If you only knew what some people ask for these parts. These are basically the price straight from Rolex.

    I've seen a 116610LN insert for 600 EUR.

    ...

Let's put it like this. In Sweden you don't have to send your part in to Rolex in exchange for a new.  Don't know if that applies to Netherlands too, but... if it does, look for a watchmaker with a Rolex acc.

  6. So, I couldn't just resist the Noob v6s. However, there were a couple of issues I felt had to be addressed.

    Therefore, here comes my Franken-thread.

    • Noob v6s 116610LN 338 USD from Sead/supermirror.net (A2836)
    • BP Miyota 116610LN-dial 25 USD from Sead/supermirror.net
    • TC 11610 LV v2 hand set 50 USD from TC
    • AR crystal: Rolex B25-295-CAR-C1 205 EUR from secret sources
    • Bezel insert: B315-116610-A1 160 EUR from secret sources
    • Relume of hands and dial to Superluminova BGW aprox 100-120 EUR

I've considered a 704-crown too, but I want to see how well the stock one holds up. Anything else?

  7. Since there are so many vintage experts here, that have a good knowledge of good and not so good prices. Added to the fact that some items so rarely show up. Might help with fewer threads with similar questions. And since "search and you shall find" sometimes and that easy for some items. Well, maybe I'm wrong and it'll go to page 10 in a couple of weeks. Or maybe some other readers will throw in their current chase, and maybe get a good feel to however or not it is a good / decent / bad price for the item they're pondering to buy.

    My first take:

1680/8 Skin(nier) font original insert with tritium pearl w/ surround // condition good // 170 USD
