  1. TRC was also the first forum I joined. I peek in from time to time but have also noticed the declining member activity. Very sad but easy to understand why it has to end.
  2. Lanikai, great pictorial pal!! It looks great. Mine will be in tomorrow with white/silver subdials. I will post pics also. I can't wait!!
  3. Thanks Andrew for taking the time to respond to this thread. I guess misunderstandings happen and I am glad we cleared this up. I know now not to take you too seriously You have always worked very hard to keep me happy and many others in this forum. Now when is this damn C1 available?
  4. With threads like this one, these are moments I miss The Zigmeister!! I miss it when he steps in, and whips up an article. Come back The Zigmeister!!
  5. Well Andrew emailed me and told me that he was just joking and that what he said was not meant to be taken seriously. It makes me feel a bit better and I feel bad now about posting this thread. He thought and assumed that I was a small collector reselling his watches because of the quantity I have purchased. He didn't fully realize that I was buying for my own personal collection. Appologies to you Andrew.
  6. I agree 100%. They value our business in the forums more than you think. Even if they sold a measily 10 watches a day from the forums, that would equate to over $500 assuming there was $50 profit in each rep. I don't know of any business owner who could afford to lose that much a day.
  7. I sometimes wonder about this too. Andrew seems to answer emails any time of the day. It is hard to believe that 1 person can single handedly manage over 50 orders a day. The way he runs his business still remains a mystery.
  8. It is hard to tell whether Andrew is just being cynical or serious. I would think he cares based on customer service he has given me in the past.
  9. The reason I bought from Andrew was because he has given me good service the past year. I didn't mind paying extra as long as the service was maintained. I just don't know what to make of his email. Was he being condesending or just joking?
  10. For this past year, I have purchased over 50 reps. I considered this a fairly large number for rep purchases especially when I also collect gens. Something happened today that has dumbfounded me. It started 2 months ago when I bought the new TT3 from Andrew. Most of my reps have come from him, over 30 pcs and closer to 40, all for personal wear and not reselling. I had a problem wearing the watch the first time and the crystal popped off rolling in my sleeve. Also, the watch ran +30 mins a day. I requested it to be replaced, but Andrew complained about tight margins with the USD the way it is. Whatever, so I sent it back for repair. The repair was quite prompt and I got it back in a couple of weeks. After getting it back, it then ran +1hr a day and then died. As you might imagine, I was and still quite upset about this. I e-mailed Andrew, and he told me to ship it back and he will pay for shipping. I sent the watch to him and asked him to put it on priority since it is the second time sending it back. Here is his response, "OK, ... but seems that you havent been ordering. I have tons of customers on priority list too...hahha Thanks and have a nice day" Suprised by this I responded with, "Lol, check all your records. 30+ reps from you in a year. If that isn't a lot, I don't know what is He responded by "LOL.... Thanks, pal. **I sell more than 50 pcs a day... so nowadays.. 30 a year isnt alot. Small collectors like you... many collect like CRAZY.. every month, they buy at least 10-15 pcs... =P LOL Have a nice day WTF??????? How many damn watches to you have to buy to be considered a good customer or big collector? That comment makes me feel insignificant and not important. I have to rethink this hobby.
  11. As said many times before, If we want perfection we buy a gen. 1:1 should definately not be used with all these flaws however. I bit the bullet on the white / silver subdials and I will post close ups once I get it. As watch fanatics, only we can spot these flaws. The general public has no clue and most of them have never heard of AP. It is just us being so anal but that is what makes this hobby fun
  12. Thanks for the interesting info and comparison. Many people have commented on the inaccuracy of the v2 dial. I have the v1 3717 with an eta swap, datewheel swap, double ar, relume and an HKtan custom strap. The Zigmeister is not booking until closer to the end of the year, but I am planning to send him the watch so he can fix the raised hour markers. He has a new process to thin the markers, then reapply the lume. I hope that is what you are getting done. Here is my 3717 as it stands:
  13. I went to APStraps and priced out the conversion links, buckle and strap. Total is $540. As much as the watch itself. I know the strap will completely transform the watch but DAMN that is pricey. Where can I find the MBW straps?
  14. Now that the steam has settled a bit, I have a question about bracelet/strap options for the ROO. I went to the APBand website where I found some killer croc and gator straps. I also noticed a conversion kit for fitting straps to an ROO fitted with a metal bracelet. Is this conversion kit necessary? The horned gator is killer
  15. Andrew and Kings watch samples are the same according to Andrew. This is a quote from him in an e-mail : "We used the same sample item for shoot. Same maker same watch. Apologies I can't view as I am outside now. Thanks warmest regards ANDREW" I think there is only one factory doing these AP's.
  16. Can't draw any conclusions until somebody purchases these to do a fair comparison. A $100 gap seems pretty extreme to be the same watch.
  17. This could be a pic of the gen. As far as I know, these all come from the same factory.
  18. I don't think there is a way to determine if the movement is good without disassembly. Maybe if the watch was sent to The Zigmeister for a servicing, he could elaborate on the quality and reliability. I was the first to send him a Bentley 6.75 for servicing and he did an awesome write up on the new movement.
  19. Seems close, but King's model has a sapphire class
  20. Are there any strap dealers that make a horned alligator strap for the ROO?
  21. So is it confirmed that the screws on the bezel is brushed on the rep and not polished?
  22. I think he just cleaned the watch before he took pics. As indicated from Pugwash, the key to photographing watches is to make sure the watch is spotless. I always leave out that detail.
  23. For me, this is definately a Super Rep and Rep of the Year. Very well built with no visible flaws. The lume application is excellent with even application consistency. Keeping great time at +15secs a day.
  24. I think one good way to determine if the new ROO is reliable is to send it off to The Zigmeister for a servicing. I did that with my Bentley 6.75 and he gave a great evaluation of the new modified movement. If the ROO is any bit the same as the 6.75 I am game.
