  1. I'm glad I got it, too. He put a lovely Super Avenger up for sale on RG: Gen dial and Pro 2 bracelet. Stunning, but $1,100. The Skyland is much better balanced on the rubber band than the rep bracelet, IMO. It doesn't feel so "weighty" or top-heavy.
  2. The blacksteel is a different watch. I don't know that much about them. Have you read the reviews in this section?
  3. As I recall, the V2 bezel felt cheaper, had a rattley feeling when I turned it. And the lume dots were sloppy and lumed very poorly. With my SA, which I sold but shouldn't have
  4. Picked this up from submersible24 on RG last weekend. It's a V1. My understanding is the V3 is the better of the 3 models as it corrected most of V1's faults. I had a V2 but the sloppy lume dots ended up bugging me too much so I sold it last year. This V1 was very well made, very solid. The lume is very good: a 15 minute charge is sufficient to read the time at 4:30-5:00. Even the tiny hour markers are visible. The rubber band, which is new, is pretty stiff. I've ordered a leather strap from Panatime. Hopefully it will be thick enough to support the watch head. Overall view: Pearl and bezel (bezel is very well made): Very good AR, IMO: I think the pushers are a bit longer than the gen: Squished lume dot at 3:00 and lume dot at 12:00, where there's not supposed to be a lume dot (neither bother me): AR is blue at certain angles: Wristie: I thought it was a nice pickup for $175!
  5. I can't help it. I'm just cheap. They both have a ways to go to catch up with Demsey, though. Or JohnG, who was a lawyer and still thinks he gets paid by the word. Lani: That's right, it was Oren not Owen! You are gracious with your words, as always.
  6. You were writing the same time I was, Lani, so I know you didn't see my post. Never said, nor implied, the forum wasn't worth shelling out a paltry $30 for, or whatever the forum's asking these days. Just didn't like the sendoff Owen got. And "medical ethics"? I've donated a lot of my time helping those who can't afford my services, and if someone stiffs me on their bill, I write it off. I don't send people to collections. If I see them in the grocery store, if they don't duck their head and run the other way, I smile and say hello. Occasionally I've had one of these patients return for care. I take them back with a smile (I do collect at the time of service, though. ) and I don't kick them in the ass as they walk out the door.
  7. I did say that. I was drunk last night, which is not an excuse, but it is a reason. You put the cart before the horse, though, when in fact it's behind the horse. My intent was not to start a thread to [censored] people off, it was to start a thread I knew would upset some people, but a thread I thought was worth talking about anyway. There's a difference: one's a troll, the other's not. Maybe a drunken nitwit, but not a troll. I've been thinking about this topic for at least a month, or whenever it was that OwenG left the forum. You remember Owen: a thousand questions followed by a Bulova purchase and a dark youtube. Owen's "farewell" thread went on and on for what? 3 or 4, or more, pages? He was given the business for not having become a paying member. Some posters were rude, I thought, as if they resented Owen for having learned something here... for free. Isn't the main purpose of the forum to share information that helps people get a decent watch while not getting scammed? I thought it was. If so, why give some like Owen a hard time? That really was my whole point. I put "trash talking" in parentheses because I've never known the admin here to be rude to anyone, but at the time I lacked other words to explain what I meant. I'm sure part of my reaction to Owen's treatment was personal: If he was thought of as a freeloader, then I am, too. And so is everyone else who visits here but doesn't pay up.
  8. I've noticed a lot of "trash talking" lately to members who don't financially contribute to the forum. What's the "official" policy of this forum? Can someone join and participate without ponying up? How long can someone participate without donating, and not draw the ire of the board? What's the purpose of this board? To steer members away from scam dealers, or to pay the bills? My question ensues from me observing the treatment of non-paying members, like myself, who have been ridiculed lately for being "free loaders." If someone doesn't pay up, should he move on?
  9. The value of anything is what you can convince someone to pay... But this watch can be purchased for $260 + shipping, new.
  10. IMO, WM9 bracelets have a 904L-like sheen: very bright steel. Wear with joy!
  11. Photos alone don't mean anything. Trusty's and Josh's photos are factory photos. Reputable dealers have the same photos on their site because they simply use the factory's photos. (I'm not saying the site you linked to is reputable, I have no idea who they are.)
  12. TT, Andrew, ships from China. They ship to the U.K. all the time. There is a U.K. dealer, Precious Time I think.
  13. I lived in N.Z. for a few years, if that counts... Welcome!
  14. Probably this one: http://www.watcheden.com/rolex-daytona-chronograph-asia-valjoux-7750-movement-gray-dial-s-s-2009-new-release-version-i-39382-p-1.html
  15. I guess we're all hanging on to Thurs...
