  1. 12.600 USD.... with 8 hours left to go, Wow! Some guys do not know about the TRL and subdial spacing...
  2. A funny thread! Chrgod.. From my name: Chr= Christian God= GodXXXX It has no connection with my avatar.. I remember TTK once guessed that "Chrgod" was short for "Chrono God"..
  3. The "Serie Speciale" is the one with the "Breitling Fighters" back?? I remember that these had "Messerscmitt" mis-spelled as "Messer1477" or something... A major fault on an otherwise very nice rep.. At least that kept me away from spending 300 USD on it...
  4. Interesting to read your history. You have received the right impulses! My interest in watches started in the early nineties, when I watched Pierce Brosnan and his Omega Seamaster on screen. When my parents went to Malaysia, I asked them to source a nice SMP rep... They returned with a rather bad replica.. So I started to look for a better replica myself.... And slowly, the interest growed. Especially after finding TRC and the old RWG. :-) Now, I have gotten a liking for old Quartzes end electrical watches, Girard-Perregaux, Omega, Tag and Longines. Nobody else wants the early quartzes, so they are still cheap. The Rolex OysterQuartz are one of the few really expensive quartz watches.. They are getting more expensive. I search for watches on eBay and the sales Corner on timezone.com.. Christian
  5. Does the Aquatimer have a screw down crown? According to Trusty's pictures of the Aquatimer in the dealers section it looks like the crown just pulls out..?
  6. It is?? Sorry, I must have been distracted...
  7. nice... Too bad the t-shirt is not white! All the subdials, even the running seconds is pointing to 12 0'clock..
  8. Velkommen! Lots to learn here. :-) After a while maybe you will even start to see the beauty of the real thing, and get a liking for vintage watches.. that are no more expensive than the reps. :-) Good luck with the collection.
  9. No way... Norway.... All the way Even though I am 1/4 Swedish.
  10. The cyclops is one of those trademarks which screams "ROLEX!!" The no-date Sub is a bit more classy, and gives the dial a more even look.. It is not as common as re, either.. And, you get of the dirt!
  11. The problems with adjusting the bracelet on the SMP is well known. With the complex bracelet, it is very difficult to adjust it without the tool. If you intend to continue to collect watches, you might as well buy one of nariikas cheap tool sets for adjusting bracelets and stuff... . It will save you alot of tears, broken fingernails and watches. The tool sets are also very cheap on ebay. I am lucky enogh to have one of the old, good version SMP... Just love it!
  12. Except from the GMT-hand which is always too thick, this one is very nice indeed. Nice date font and magnification. Good red color. Maybe I finally should go for that Pepsi...
  13. Just go ahead, Jagger... Give them a try and tell us about it afterwards.
  14. Just love that Kiev camera! An Ukrainian "replica" of the pre-WW2 German Contax... Nice glass in those, it beats any 4,1 Mpix cam.
  15. GMT-Master and Explorer II on leather.... That looks weird. In my mind, Rolex Tool watches are supposed to be on steel bracelet... After all, a Steel band is "The Rolex trade mark "...
  16. Oh-la la..... Your collection never stops to amaze me... What a source for referances.. NICE PICS!
  17. You could always go for vintage... or the little-loved Cellini...
  18. Who has the best sub..... ?
  19. Well, good luck anyway! It takes man to do the plunge...
  20. Too bad about the nice Quartz, TAG Heuer Link Calibre 36 chronograph... It was just about to find its way to my wrist.. I was a bit slow this time But, I have the cool, slim Patek on my way from Neil
  21. I belive that there was a factory which made almost perfect Omegas, with correct long hands and good pearls. The factory were busted, and all current reps have the same faults... Maybe it is just an urban myth.. There were a used black SMP with long hands on the trade board some days ago, so they do turn up once in a while...
  22. A nice read, thanks for sharing! It is always interesting to read about the history of all the different Swiss manufactures, and the interactions with the American and English factories.. The Quartz race in the late sixties/ early seventies bought along a couple of good/ futuristic looking watches. Since the basis of the whole business was shaken, we got all kind of "jump hour" digital style mechanical watches, flashing electronic led's and fancy stuff... Collectors items in their own right. Lately, I have been consideing an early Girard Perregaux battery powered watch. Not quartz, but a transition model where the balance wheel is electrical powered. To me, this is an interesting model in watch history, and relatively cheap. Personally, I like quartz watches... Much more rugged, better time keeping, cheaper, takes a beating... all over easier to live with... I prefer a quartz chronograh replica with funtional chronograph before those stupid automatic day/month "chronographs".. For me, mechanical watches is a bit like the car manufacturer Morgan, they sells well on their "old fashion", and does not try to compete with modern sports cars... A special taste.. Nevertheless, I have the obligatory Omega Seamaster Pro and Submariner and enjoy them both. :-)
  23. Hi folks! I never got around to introduce myself on the old RWG, so I guess this is the right occasion to say hello. In fact, it is also about one year since I first joined TRC. I soon learned about RWG and have visited both boards regularly. However, since RWG long downtime in december. I stuck to the more stable TRC.. Anyway... I am 30 years old, from Norway, and enjoy the good sides of life. I have a soft spot for simple Rollies and Quartz-chronographs... My dailiy beater is mostly an Omega SMP, and occasionaly a black PAM pvd. For real watches, I like Girard Perregaux and Omegas. I hope to stay around the board for years to come.
