  1. Thanks Lani...for days I've been contemplating whether to get a UN or not! I've been staring at the Maxi Marine pics and it really does looks awesome. Gotta cancel my Tag order and have it replace with a Maxi Marine! Thanks again.

    Good advice from Lani.

Maxi marine isn't overly big at all for a small wrist. You'll be fine. Chances are you'll wear even bigger watches eventually. My wrists and hands are on the small side, but even my Skyland or PAM is just fine. Rule of thumb, the lugs shouldn't be extending over the sides of your wrists.

  2. @McRae: My Fish has the exact same datefont as my old one (from the 1st batch). Look at the 1st picture in my first post.

It's the standard ETA font. But look at Makoberry's watch... it has perfect Breitling datefont. Mine doesn't have that. Other that that, my watch is 100% identical with his.

@P4GTR: I have been thinking about the Skyland for a long time... it's a great rep but I'm not sure if I like the design. It has a polished bracelet and the watch overall looks a bit clumsy. Impressive, yes... but not as balanced and nice as the Fish. Just a personal taste thing I guess. But if I saw it in the flesh I could change my mind. But I think Skyland is very similar with Fish in design in many ways... and definitely not as nice. I doubt it'd see much wrist time if I purchased one. Fish is the only Breitling that I really, really love. One of my all time favorite watches bar none. :)

We know how much you love your fish. Eventually you'll get that gen. The SF always felt chunky until I got the skyland, now it seems more moderate in size. The skyland doesn't wear as big as it looks. If I could change anything in my watchbox from rep to gen, it would be that. The rep quality as good as it is, pales in comparison to the SFSO. I'd never part with either of them!

  3. I'm starting to think that everything that was to be said has been said...

Though I guess there are still a lot of unanswered questions about those midgets. And no one is talking.

Andrew let you take his picture? That was during the famous "stop stealing the lume powder" speech to the factorys.

The only other known photo of him is where he is seen here with Joshua:

This should scratch the surface on the midget thing. They prefer oompa loompa.

  4. Guys, we need to realize that there are gen and rep owners on this site and I am one of them.

We know the most about the differences of the reps from gens because we want our reps to be as close to gen as possible. We know the tiny details on what it needs to look like.

WHat I find funny is that these members on TRF think they can some how make a dent in the rep world...very naiive in my opinion.

Many of us own both, I think we realize it but they don't, hence the "better than you" attitude. Go's with the territory of that particular brand though. Naiive is exactly what it is. The information is here for anyone that wants to look for it. This whole high level alert they have over a DSSD tells me they simply don't care enough to seek out the information, or want to turn a blind eye. Ignorance is bliss. Members here (again, most owning both gen and rep) seem to appreciate watches as a whole, in such a different way.

  5. Haha, I was waiting for that to be mentioned in this thread. Wearing my GEN PO as this is being written, my reponse to your observation is; If you ask thousands of girls to sleep with you, you'll hit jackpot at least 4 times in a row at some point. Damn tired of asking though..........

I was kidding unless you win again!

Theres irony in your girl theory, for example... Lani bought thousands of reps, you'd think he would be the one to get broken ones 4 times in a row, not me. :(

  6. Personally I couldn't care less if the raffles afford LoS enough money to buy a fleet of Enzo's. People got the chance to get some great watches they wouldn't normally be able to for a fair ticket price.

As long as our forums aren't taking money from dealers or censoring (a reason i've stayed away from RG since the whole little white lies thread) then whats the problem?

I commend the staff of RWG, as always, people here are free to talk about whatever we want to.

I hope to see RWI back and those personal conflicts resolved. All the best.

What we really need to be questioning is how the hell NORing has won 4+ raffles. :brow:

  7. Well, buying one with a gen ETA inside will run you somewhere north of $350 and I don't think it is worth it. I know where to get "AAA" grade ETA copy and 21j (yes I know the term AAA grade is bad but I'm sure you know what I mean.. sapphire crystal, double AR and other things). Those are sufficient. The only difference between one of those and the $350 watch is the movement and possibly the seconds hand is variant on the watches. I wouldn't spend over $200 on one with a gen ETA inside. The price is inflated on that watch. It's a replica of a watch that in gen costs ~$2500, so just personally not worth it for me (well that and the fact that a 45mm watch looks geeky on my wrist but that is beside the point). Basically it is a $80 watch with an ETA inside which should add maybe $60 to the cost. So you're spending $350+ on a $140 watch. That's quite some markup to me.

    I don't follow. Gen ETA 2824-2's cost a lot more than $60.

  8. I like it. I also like it for this possibility that for all we know it could be the next PAM or something. I hope for you, that it is. Remember I said that and pay it forward with a personalized watch for me if and when that time comes. RWG family first! :whistling:

I think the bezel needs a little something. Even a machined rim in the center, or off center to break up the width of a plain bezel. You don't necessarily have to put a lot of detail into it and deviate from its simplicity, but thats my opinion if you're looking for it. Awesome work. Looks like vintage Geneva/Italian work.

  9. The fit, the finish, the color of the steel... The bracelet screws, those crown guards, so impressive. Really. Bravo. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

These little things, the "minutia" as you so eloquently put it, the minor details that get even some damn good sub reps instantly outted are just simply not present on the WM9.

Simply put, I'd be hard pressed to say "REP". That is quite a feat, given the model in question. Isn't that the most beautiful thing about this? Admittedly, I haven't been a fan of the price of these watches; having been known to say "we're supposed to be protecting ourselves from dropping $500 on a fake Rolex". I'm stubborn and By-Tor thanks for biting your lip with me (no pun intended [You too BK]).

Truth is, with all these hair across your ass nuances finally being rectified, there's no question about "who has the best sub" outside of Geneva. The extra pocket full of pence on this rep seems well worth it for anyone that is leary of the $6,000+ double edged and ungreased buy-in to the Swiss crown facade.

Needs a WM pearl though. Dead giveaway otherwise.

  10. I can easily sum up my opinion on the immediate conversation...

Knowing Reg likes things the way he does, and having acquired my Reg O' Rikka shortly before these pics were made, I felt only one timepiece was suitable for sponsoring the days event.

One thing thats hard to dispute, a 1911 in its native caliber always aims to please.
