  1. No, but I've had the same issue with that "camp" so I've deferred my needs to others who are paying me more dedicated attention. I don't have enough valium or patience for the anxiety broken $300+ watches cause me. I won't put up with that kind've service more than once ever again.

I have had good luck with Reg, and marvelousreplica, a new recommended dealer over on RWI. He has been superb as far as communication with me and helped me source a bracelet for a watch I didn't even purchase through him. $20 less than "that camp" wanted. The package was the same as the ones I usually get from Josh, even filled out with the same handwriting.

Doesnt help you with this one, just hope you learn your lesson sooner rather than later.

  2. On my work PC here, I've been typing all of my posts into wordpad, then copy and pasting them over to the reply box here for at least a month now. This work PC runs IE6. If I have to edit i'm screwed!

At home, I have no problems using chrome or the newer versions of IE. Its just this work PC.

Considering I do 90% of my RWG browsing at work, it would be nice to see this fixed, especially after I just finished fixing the last issue where RWG was being filtered out by our proxy server here. I blame the work PC's.. ah, well im not gonna lie I blame RWG. But I love RWG still the same.

  3. Could you imagine buying the solid rose gold version? Or now the "Gen" with rep buckle?

I'd have 10x more referrals if stuff like this didn't happen. You definitely showed a lot of trust spending $600 on a rep. I'm really sorry, I know what its like to roll the dice and find this when you open the package. Your stomach must've been in your mouth.

Now you get to enjoy the next 2 months waiting for screws or sending things back and forth to guangzhou.

Unacceptable. Personally, I'd like to know who this is. No point trying to stay in someones good graces when in fact you aren't, and never were to begin with. Same go's for me. I'm not special either!

    Sorry Thogaa.

  4. I like that WM, too. Gotta get one of these homage watches sometime. I saw that Invicta Automatic stainless sub the other day. $200. Nice watch, just seems kind've pointless right now. I have my rep sub, and a dive watch.

Anywho.. as far as water proofing. I just recently greased up a noobmariner and it is proven to be waterproof. Gotta pop the stem and grease the trip lock crown system and insure all 3 gaskets are in place for good measure.

  5. I made a thread about a month ago, saying I saw this watch, and thought it looked cool. Many members showed interest. A week ago I ordered one off of Ebay, and for less than $50 it is now on my wrist. Heres the verdict.

I've found that I have no "beater" in my collection. I saw this watch on one of the watch forums, and when I researched and saw the price I knew I had found a ringer to fill that niche. Here's a watch that could stay strapped on for work, school and play. I mountain bike, swim, and although I haven't scuba dove in a few years, I desk dive 5 days a week. Every watch I own, sits on a microfiber pad and watches me do my job. Until now.

I didn't even bother to mention the factory rubber strap, as its rubbish and got tossed aside immediately. If you wanted to use it for sport/thrashing, I don't see why you couldn't.

Most of the surfaces are polished, except for the tops of the lugs. The watch wears just a fraction larger then a Submariner with 22mm lug spacing instead of 20. Having worn my 16610 all day prior to this arriving at my door, the change over was rather unnoticeable.

Domed mineral glass crystal, no AR.

    IMG_1064R.jpg

There are no sharp edges to scrape yourself on. At first I thought they should've cut the bezel teeth sharper, then I realized it was purposefully smooth. The MDV will come in and out of your pants pocket without snags.

The overall fit and finish of the MDV102 is excellent. Screw down crown and caseback, nicely engraved. Solid stainless steel. Bezel rotation is tight, however there is rather sloppy play in between each of the 120 clicks.

    IMG_1069.jpg

The button above the crown is non screw down, and when pressed will trigger a small white LED light at 12 and 6 that will remain lit for 2.5 seconds unless held down. Date window at 4 o'clock.

The Casio MDV102 is not an automatic. It carrys no pedigree, no COSC papers or swiss markings. It has no soul and tugs at no heart strings. Therefore it is perfect at its job. A classically designed and layed out watch you won't mind using and abusing. A dispensable tool watch with all the basic necessities.

  6. I was talking with a friend about this, and I thought it'd be funny to have a thread about it. Stereotypical watch people. These guys you've seen before, you know them well, and can tell me 20 things about them or less in 10 seconds, so chime in with your own, this could be pretty funny.

For instance, here's a few to start:

    The Know it All:

He was there when cape cod cloth was invented. You just wasted $1000 on Bergeon tools, they arent as good as this "Kluchec" (I made that up) brand tools he uses. You advise that since its been 10 years, he should have his 7750 serviced. He will ask you why? He services his own 7750's, but its not broken. He leaves the chrono running too, because it doesnt matter and looks better. He owns one gen, a stainless Breitling which is, obviously, the best watch ever made. He can source his own 316L steel, because.. He put Rolex in touch with the guy that made that stuff. The precious stones in your gen Rolex do not fire like the diamonds he can get you from his friend Frank.

    The watchmaker:

He hates watches. He works at a mall kiosk and is either over the age of 60, Asian, or both. Any straps or cases larger than 17mm are huge and trendy. Hamilton makes his favorite watches, he owns one, from the 70's. He won't work on Rolex, Omega, Tag... this is because he's forgotten how to do anything other than change batterys and install those stretchy metal bracelets. If you ask him if he has any NATO straps in stock, he spints a plastic display on the counter to reveal florecent colored "Shark Wrapz" velcro surfer watch straps.

Looking forward to someone doing "The Submariner"..

  7. The skyland screws have no threads. They just spin round and round and they WILL fall out very easily. Take a tiny jewlers flat head screw driver, spin the screw to break the glue that holds them in, and then pop them out one by one. I used of loc tite super glue gel, dabbing each little hole before pushing the screw back into it. Be careful with the amount you use, not too much not too little. Its hard to wipe off and it will ruin your AR on the crystal if you get it on there.

referring to bezel screws, by the way.

  8. It cracks me up that people think a Tag is a "good" watch. It disturbs me that they think it's a watch worth bragging about.

I like the OP. You seem like a good guy! At first its easy to say "You shouldnt sink to his level". Sometimes, you have to defend yourself. If that guy hadn't been an asshat then he would've been alright. He had it coming.

It cracks me up that people think a Tag is a "good" watch. It disturbs me that they think it's a watch worth bragging about.

Seriously? We're all entitled to our opinions, and for every brand there will be a hater.

TAG has been very innovative. Have you ever resized a LINK bracelet? Probably the nicest looking bracelet since the oyster.

And the new belt-drive Monaco? People are calling it the coolest watch on the planet!

  9. Seeing these wrist shots, I realize many of us share more than one hobby in common, photography. Some great shots, all of you.

oh my, what is that? I mean, I know what it is, but tell me more! I'm in LOVE!

Today, I wear the Breitling that started it all.. None other than the SOSF.

  10. A close friend of mine drives an F430 and eats subway for all day everyday. He refuses to get anything BUT the 5 dollar footlong :).

pics of the F430 with $5 foot long or it never happened! :p

I saw a guy in Blockbuster a while ago with a PAM on.

3 days ago (monday) I was sitting in my car in a parking lot and a brand new Viper GTS coupe pulled up next to me. Some homeless looking guy in sweatpants and a walmart college football shirt got out to get some taco's at Moe's (a taco joint).

These cost around the same as 10 Regatta's, right?

  11. thank you.

I dont feel so bad now. I have tried taking the crown out and stuffed out the keyless a few weeks ago. So now i am very nervous about taking the crown out. I had the watch overhauled a couple of months ago and there was no sign of dust etc. I guess it could be any of the things suggested here causing this.

Im sure just about everyone here has done it. Personally, I find pulling the stem to the hour set position then pushing the stem release lever as gently as necessary has been most successful.

After you do it a few times it becomes second nature. Buy a really cheap watch or two to practice on.

What watch is this happening on, by the way?

  12. I'm in Tampa. The watchsmith I used to use and recommend has since stopped taking rep work for some reason since last I spoke with him. I would volunteer, but I don't feel comfortably skilled enough not to make things worse. Best of luck, let me know if I can be of help in some manor.

  13. hmm... its a toss up between this or the submariner from bestswiss.com.

So, we're supposed to protect people from dealing with scam sites and paying way too much for a watch. Now then, who's going to protect us from ourselves?

God forbid they gold plate some other parts with .001 microns of rose gold, or dlc or pvc and throw in some ceramic screws, we're looking at upwards of a grand buy in. pvd... More like someones smoking PCP if they think I'm dropping a grand on a watch thats not going to even work when I receive it... Yep a grand. Don't forget to add $200 to that cost to have The Zigmeister service the 7750. Thats [censored] pre owned gen territory.
