  1. Your local water company does not run mass spec analysis on water samples. That 1ppt is routine impurities and solids that they look at. Problem is they dont look at a broad range of chemicals/drugs present in the sewage. Good to hear you are conscious about your food sources! to Freddy: - thats great! im switching to the RO myself ,I wish i've done this earlier. Do you have a your whole house/flat on RO at the point of entry? from the article : "Troubled by drugs discovered in European waters, poisons expert and biologist Francesco Pomati set up an experiment: He exposed developing human kidney cells to a mixture of 13 drugs at levels mimicking those found in Italian rivers. There were drugs to fight high cholesterol and blood pressure, seizures and depression, pain and infection, and cancer, all in tiny amounts. The result: The pharmaceutical blend slowed cell growth by up to a third suggesting that scant amounts may exert powerful effects, said Pomati, who works at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. And while researchers do not yet understand the exact risks from decades of persistent exposure to random combinations of low levels of pharmaceuticals, recent studies — which have gone virtually unnoticed by the general public — have found alarming effects on human cells and wildlife."
  2. Just wanted to give everyone heads up on this. I have not really heard about this until some data started leaking out. There was a good PBS show awhile ago, they did their own investigation, here im linking AP's investigation. Pretty much tap water in any city is a cocktail of drugs (PBS quoted that they were able to ID around 200 drugs by sampling tap water in various states and running HPLC/MS on samples) at low concentrations (not always though). Our water treatment systems were designed and built several decades ago and were not meant to do anything about drugs, their metabolites and modified drugs (through chlorination) present in sewage. Water regulations do not regulate drug levels. Officials are simply ignoring the issue. My concern mainly is long term effect, drinking this "soup" all of your life cant be a good thing, even though they claim that these levels are too low to negatively affect our health. So even if you do not take drugs directly, you are still drinking them....Long term studies are simply not available. Just some food for thought for those who care. AP link
  3. I am getting bored here guys, last great ones for me were Skyland and SA (if it was not so freaking big) and before that titanium CA. Any rumors about factories making some new exciting Breitling reps? Or is this crisis making it impossible for the factories to R&D new good quality stuff? A SE Navitimer with Skyland quality would be awesome..! What do you all think?
  4. Hike, your sig may get me in trouble at work!!! [nice pic btw ]
  5. ...damn 780 for a sub a bit too much for a rep these days. they'll have to come down if they want to stay in business..
  6. where do you keep getting pre-V cases from? got a pre-V tree next to the mango tree in your backyard ?!? lol
  7. confirmed. my 201A case back does not really fit. looks like it is a correct diameter from what i can tell but the thread size is different. it catches threads just a little but does not screw in all the way. so avitt, me and you - we all have the same case. lol.
  8. Hi gang! I've got some parts for what i think will be a 201A project: FGD dial, older Helenarou? case (see pics below), 201A caseback. Is this case a good place to start? TIA.
  9. Lani, which case did u use for this project? is this old Helenrou's case?
  10. holy moly lani! this is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l !!!
  11. man, just work on what you eat and how much you eat. go on raw veg diet for a month. avoid processed food at all costs! make sure you get lots of nutrients & vitamins from plants/vegetables. if you cant live without meat - get locally grown organic meats once in a while or wild caught fish only. you will notice the results. what you are doing is too much for a beginner. its like beginner pilot who just got his license gets to fly F16 with no supervision. you will do some damage.
  12. considering the economy these days many are selling expensive gen watches and getting "cheaper" reps.. how is bezel on this U1? does it have nice gen click feeling like skyland? im also curious about waterproofness of this U1 case.. my fish is doing fine under water, if U1 is as good - im sold!!
  13. nice watches man! are gen skyland dials available?
  14. well if its a well built watch like the reviews say then i say its totally worth extra 100$ for a reliable and serviceable movement. my 2 cents.
  15. Madoff getting 150 years in prison, MJ's kids and some politicians love letters are more important than this. time to go "all in" gold?
  16. I looked up into this and looks like this is true, actually he could have been a vegan (100% no animal products). Also, Aristotle, Einstein, Lincoln (apparently grew his own weed as well), Brad Pitt (lol) were/are vegetarians. link
  17. how do they feel in your hands compared to each other? does rep have that gen feeling?
