  1. But are you saying you visualise me wearing a Carmen Miranda halter top with a drag-queen bow?
  2. I have a photo of my younger dad, bent over his microscope, wearing a lab coat, and though he doesn't remember which watch it was, he tells me the watch he's wearing is an Omega. I like to think it's the Aqua Terra on black leather band! Looks very late 1960s. Funny that Mrs. Andy would have one too!
  3. Dad has the gen. In fact, I do believe that was one of the first watches he ever bought for himself. Omega is a SOLID marque, Tazzman. You chose very well. RWG'ers are the best. EDIT: Tazzman, you MAY want to invest just a little more in a better leather band, for your friend. The one in the photo isn't THAT bad, but rep watch bands as you know, are just awful. http://www.internationalwatchman.com/exotic.html Not sure they do international sales, but for those prices, you CANNOT beat that quality of croc, gator, etc leathers. EDIT #2: Tazzman, make SURE you tell Joshua that that is the strap you want (I noticed just now it's a deployant). My mum ordered a watch from him, specifying the colour of the strap, with deployant, etc. but still the wrong colour and tang buckle one arrived. Don't worry, he makes it up to you immediately -- but just to make sure there are no disappointments on your end, and for your friend.
  4. Ola, neighbour! Haven't seen you around for yoiks! As for the welder, I was already planning my "Just don't ask Notasolder." Had no idea this was a watch. First thoughts...bad rip off of a Graham. And we all know how much I appreciate them! This one at least doesn't commit the heinous sin of looking like Marty Feldman's redheaded stepchild. €420,00 though? Eh, why not!
  5. For the love of all things holy and Rolex! Not Bambi! I see him sharing lonely nights with his girlfriend pillow. He probably slings a 1655 on "her" wrist.
  6. Oh we're too awful. I bet you Harley there is just a wee lad of 16-20, who can't even properly shave yet! Cut him some slack!! Because if he's a 40 year-old man who trolls rep watch forums posting pics of his "gens", and ISN'T doing it for fun, well, I just hope he enjoys his other collection as much.
  7. And I have this of Mr. Pix!! Corr!! RRRRRR! Where's the rest of you, handsome?!? J/K. I love that photo, Pix. That was the best Pubus-TWP hommage I've seen! Great watch too.
  8. Fresh wristie, from Sunny 80F (cuando no?) Cloudless South Florida. Guys, allow me to briefly address the question of photos. I love taking photos of myself. But I actually stopped posting (regularly) over at RWI because every time I opened my Inbox, it was a creepfest of "You're hot! I want to see your face!!" request for photos of myself. Recently, uncharacteristically, I've noticed an increase of such requests at august, sophisticated RWG. Being sometimes the lone woman on a forum gets you lovely compliments, and I enjoy and appreciate every one. Never stop, because I try to return whenever I can in kind. But take what the lady gives you. You have my wrists, my fingers, my arms, even my feet. My boyfriend has the rest. Capiche? Thanks guys. P.S.: He's a VIP member here, and in fact, this is the only thread he checks out regularly. He loves my Wristies.
  9. Yes! I'm totally Gisele B
  10. It's a photo shot with a Sony cam from a magazine or similar...either that or Gisele B
  11. Yeah, a lot of people here don't "read" that thread. Odd because surely it's one of the best. I personally put in a lot of effort in making them creative and worthwhile. Ahh, no. No gen PAMs yet. My snuck-in gens are usually lady watches.
  12. Thanks, V! That was at the very beginning, as I said. No Simonas, no OEMs, no Strapmasters, no Dirks. I added another PAV 91 for the Fiddy, which wasn't shown in the "rollcall" either. It's called Strapitis, and it created a bad buzz not only in that thread, but spilled over in others. Anyway... I'm still queen of the cheapies, both in watches and straps. Got two great Europelli straps this weekend for less $60. Each costs well over $130, when new. I never buy anything rated less than 95%, so I think I made out well there.
  13. I'm reminded of that old saying, "If you have to explain a joke, it wasn't funny in the first place". Except it was!
  14. Thanks, TMG! See how I positioned the PAM so that it looks like it's on her wrist? Think Tom Brady would approve? Interestingly, I was at an AD the other day, trying on that Ebel, sans bling. Like it...but buying a gen now means having less money for reps and straps. Toughie.
  15. Fitmic, where have you been!? @Plant: He and Andrew at TrustyTime are considered amongst the best, in fact, perhaps the best of all rep watch collectors. Not just for the quality of their rep watches, but for their customer service care. Good luck!
  16. Proving that not all Swedes drive Volvos or Saabs. Flawless. Impeccable. Elegant.
  17. Precisely. BTW, a few people contributed to his recoup fund. I know he posted a few donor names, but did we ever find out what happened to him, or if he bought the replacement rep watch? Hope he is okay. When someone asks me the time on the street, and they look dodgy, I pretend I don't understand... How can one give a big enough DUH for this? I can't believe what that man did. Hope his wife recovers...
  18. Well, V, as I mentioned in my recent "Straps: Are We Done Yet?" thread (I think you were away still), I did indeed post one such shot, 1 month and 4 days into my Panerai collecting. That photograph, and indeed, thread was very discomfitting for me, because it brought me a lot of negative vibes all that following week. I vowed never again to post a "reunion" shot of either my straps, or my watches, together. Instead, as I told Hambone, I promise to always shoot a new strap or watch for my Wristies, so that you can see for yourselves the variety I possess. But how can I resist such a request from you? Again, that was posted early August 2007. I had received my first Panerai watch on the 4th of July. All told, I today have 17 Panerai watches (one on its way from TWP, perhaps two; and I will buy another DSN for Christmas, so by year's end, 20 PAMS). And a simply staggering amount of straps. I haven't counted the haul. If pressed I would hazard I have well over 150 straps. July to November, mind you. Throughout my life I have always been about quantity, not like you, quality. I have really nice straps. You have timeless classics. Big difference.
  19. WEDNESDAY I'm keeping my mouth shut this Wristie, too. So without further ado, my Andrew PAM 113 wearing new whitey-orangey shoes; a very autumnal strap! I think Gisele is enjoying it. THURSDAY YET ANOTHER SILIX ROLEX. I love 'em! Today, a Two-Tone gold-dial Datejust. ...so, whatcha rockin' today?
  20. Bar (n. Eng.) - (1) establishment or counter where alcoholic beverages are served (2) long pole or stick used by ballerinas, dancers and Lenny Bruce wannabes.
  21. Gosh, that's a shame, Slai. Do you have the correspondence where he promised all would be fixed? I'm sure if it's a trusted collector that he or she will make it right. I'm hoping the best for you!
  22. Yessir, 'sum. It's the only Houston's I know, since until now, I wasn't aware they were elsewhere.
