  1. I was trying to be decent, and this is the thanks I get?! No, seriously. I realise there's a physicality that is repulsive to straight men (frankly, a little bit to me too), but the physicality images are not present when you are growing up. It's in those crucial childhood years that boys are taught that weakness is female. As they grow up, they equate that with effeminate gay men. Wait, this thread is about ghetto watches, no wait that's another thread! Arrgh, too much gay on RWG. I think Chieftang was right. We should have a gay button. In pink.
  2. First, didn't know he had passed on. Thanks for the info (yeah, even I don't read everything online). Secondly, wow, what a collection! I'm a bit stunned by it. It got off to a great start. Audemars Piguet. A little too much gold, but a fine timepiece, all the same. Then, this. Oy. And I thought I was pretentious. Wow, I have one of Jorg Hysek's pens. Watch is OKAY. Wannabe Bvlgari, with shades of Mont Blanc. But this?? Look at the red underlined part. Well, that's nice. Nerdy and you can't fix it. I see Bill Gates gunning for it. At least the auction ends on a good note. Not the gen movement, but a nice vintage watch all the same. I'll bid a looney. Wait, that's Canadian money.
  3. Toady, there is nothing about condoms in that thread! Unless you meant you had put sillicone on your willie to waterproof it.
  4. Dunno. You gotta ask her when she knew. (Around the same time I knew I liked boys. Simon LeBon, I still love you!!)
  5. Coals to Newcastle...
  6. *daydreams* Sorry, where we again? British Racing Green MG. The car my parents had when I was born. You know what they say, if it doesn't leak, it's not British. I'm sure it was. Check Trevor's Store. I think I saw him advertising a Range Rover for $499.99. SHIPPED!!! Great story. But here's a wrinkle. Let me tell you a story too, this time with no name-dropping ON MY PART. Strange but true. On another forum, there was this chap who was selling a Breitling for Bentley watch. I hope he's not reading this, but it was an ugly-ass watch. Ooh, mama, mercy. FUGLEEE. It was all golded, and oversized, and the hash marks were all red and nasty. FUGLEEE. Anyway -- long story short for once, turns out he was a sports agent, and some famous American sports personalities had used this very watch, since he had bought it for one famous player, who not surprisingly declined to wear it. The second guy, too. Finally, a very famous QB's backup wore it around for a while, before he too ixnayed the watch. Now my question to you,
  7. Everything you said above is exactly how he handled my situation. He constructed the new Fiddy from scratch for me (instead of possibly taking it from his pre-made stocks), and sent me photos, apologising for having such a crappy Canon. I posted the photos here to get others' opinions, and they all said it was cosmetically flawless. I also got a nice new Paneari leather keyring, and other stuff, for my bothers, in addition to the items I had already requested in compensation. This took me completely by surprise, and though you may think it's a little thing, I liked his thoughtfulness and generosity a lot. Good luck, Jawo!
  8. Well, lookie here, lookie here. Trying to get an image of the 42nd President of the USA wearing his Roadster, but what should I find? Senator Clinton, a member of the Chanel J12 Club? Cancel my order, Gareth...(where is my watch anyway?).
  9. Okay, okay. I grant you -- she's not a bad-looking girl. But as far as Air-Kings go, there is no hotter pic than this handsome Norwegian gent, and fellow RWG member, wearing his:  I bet you he would've liked me tapping on his sapphire crystals.
  10. TBH, the gen Roadster is A BIT cheesy too. Have you seen a photo of Bill Clinton wearing his Roadster? In gold... I'm getting La Do
  11. Thanks, Sssurfer! For both of us. I'll get one too. Now, do we have a sticky for people who ask these types of questions? Pugwash, why don't you write a Sticky about which cheap PAMs are out there or best bang for buck, etc.? I just pointed out your Navitimer review to someone, since I must get around 5 PMs like this per week, and that was 100x better than anything I could do. You're da man! And yes, I am humping your leg a bit.
  12. Lose the moustache, and we'll talk. (Guys, please remember that we may have gay male members of the forum. I know for certain there is a lesbian member of the forum, and it can't be easy to read these threads. All in good fun though, I hope they realise that!) @Sssurfer: LOL!
  13. No. Seriously, you are asking a lot when a brief look over the entire Panerai area would answer a lot of your questions! Try from July to August. BAM, in that time alone you have two of my posts commenting on how awful the two cheapo PAMs I bought from Paul/Wo-Mart were. U$99 shipped. What did I expect? Well, I got crap, is what I got. To any newbie, ANY, I would say, go with Andrew's PAM 111h. Still at the old price I paid for $158 (not including shipping): http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...;products_id=94 Real sapphire crystal. Nice sized crown. Good font dial. Half-way decent lume. He even includes a rubber strap deployant for free, if asked, and not those leather monstrosities Paul sent me (in fairness, all rep straps are nasty, save Davidsen's). This is the second time today I've mentioned Andrew, one privately, and I have to tell you, IMHO, he's the best. Full stop.
  14. That's the best laugh I had all day today. Thanks, Kelster!
  15. Oops, didn't see this in my RWG haste. Bing-o, go with what Corgi said -- Roadster all the way. Go to the Cartier official site and compare it A LONG time before getting whatever version is out there. There are many. It's not on my own radar, but you never know...I'm getting La Do
  16. Did Kelster really say that? Brit + German no go together? Someone tell my parents!! A 6'4" British dude and a 5'2" German gal produced a crazy watch obsessed kid, FYI! And yeah, sure, DBR. You know I'm the only model you want. Got the PAM already.
  17. Wow, nice gen DJ, UB7, scratches and all! And thanks for the compliment! Since the Wrist-Checks are a little slow today, I'll post a little longer reply in the thread than usual. It's a name-dropping post, as ever. Once upon a time, my parents and I went to see the famous Spaniard soprano, Montserrat Caball
  18. When we suddenly find a glaring mistake, or a swirl on the crystal, that's all we notice. It's like having a canker sore in one's mouth. Your tongue can't keep away from rubbing it. And kudos for using 'fora'. Gotta love a man who uses his Latin plurals correctly. Mwah!
  19. Thanks Puggy. WEDNESDAY My new Cartier Panthere rep from Andrew!! How I love this watch. It's PERFECT. My mum has the gen version, and we've put it side-by-side. Like Andrew's Gucci Twirl, and our gen versions, it's nearly flawless. Guess how much? Go on, guess how much? U$98. Now you know your wife's Christmas present. Took this photo late, with overcast sky. It normally GLOWS yellow gold, in the most believable fashion of any rep YG watch I have. THURSDAY Got a Dermie appointment, finally, to see how my Lotion Rash is healing, so I'm going to scare the doc by wearing my new Toscana Honey Tan Python strap on the DSN PAM 112. Menacing shot. It's like it's slithering on its belly towards you. And it might just be! Can you tell I love this strap? @V: Welcome back! Again. @Dluddy: Very few people wear the JLC Memovox here! l also think that's a better strap than the black rep one it comes with, yum. HKTan strap? @Slai: Isn't the PAV 91 just the BEST?
  20. Mark, great watch! Now can you or someone please post the Midweek Wristchecks?
  21. I know as a newbie, which I don't know if Antonio is or isn't, I could never do that, or want to do that after shelling out $390 + WU fees. I'd want a near perfect watch, as advertised. For U$20.25 registered airmail, if from the US, I'd say take a shot and send it back to Davidsen WITH confirmation.
  22. OMG, what the heck...this is awful. Antonio, contact Davidsen via email immediately. Tell him of the situation. He is already apprised of the thread's existence by Jawo, so if he's been reading it, he knows his reputation is suffering. I'm sure he wants to do his best to gain back the confidence people had in him. Tell him that you will send him the watch registered airmail (that has a tracking number, so he knows you're not lying). If you're in the US, it doesn't cost THAT much. Then ask for stuff in compensation for what you spent on shipping. If he's honourable, he should cover the cost of the watch, in case it gets lost. Good luck. (Mine took 2 weeks to the day to reach him. Andrew received my package sent at exactly the same time, a day later)
  23. You know, on Repgeeks there is a chap who wears a rep to Church on Sunday. I haven't had the courage! Although I pretty much know the Lord knows I buy reps. I think this thread will pretty much break down to whomever likes to mod their watches, and those who don't. Mostly vintage rep Rolex owners fall into the category of "I prefer reps to gens", because I've seen some AWESOME Frankenprojects out there. Same for Paneristi members. But how can you mod an HBB? Me too! Love 'em.
  24. Not being a modder-rep owner like Stephane and others, or wanting to be (wonder why), I am not into the idea of making a watch your own, unless you mean trying on different straps. So the answer is -- I like the availability of reps, the ease of owning any watch I could ever want which has been repped. But do I prefer reps to gens? No. If I had the money, I'd buy a gen 90% of the time, as I said in another thread. Will link this thread to Anton's in my poll post.
  25. Wait, so he's a German Norwegian, possibly rich gay Nazi?? (Poor thing, you know, some guy out there who had the briefest of encounters with a British girl in Lincoln Road Mall will never know he sparked such a convo about him. I almost wish he were a rep watch owner. We'd stand a decent chance of seeing him here! And no funny business, guys. Some made-up ID like "Lars von Himmler" telling his side of the story isn't going to cut it. I'll just ask you what I was wearing and shame you if you lie! )
