YAY!! Thanks, TeeJay. Another Big Thanks to you for motivating me to buy this lovely, "flirty" watch as my mum calls it (second mum reference of the day! But then she's the only person around me who shares my passion...). I saw that Narikaa had Emily's smaller HBB Aspen equivalent, and it did seem that the subdials did as you say above. Please note that my big 45mm version also has the datewheel, which the smaller version Emily has doesn't. That was another consideration. But yeah, my subdials are completely faux. Neither 3 nor 9 are up to much, and the 6 is redundant as it's the seconds. I remember him. The chap who never paid a farthing's worth of child support, but has a watch stall or similar? Yuck. Sorry for that, TeeJay. Sounds fantastic. Due to RWG being down, I haven't read your funny entitled "Patient didn't make it" thread, but I'll follow its progress with interest. I love when members say they service their own watches. Goes to show, rep watch collectors are just as savvy, if perhaps not more, than gen watch owners out of dint of circumstance. But more than that, because we are at heart tinkerers. They're just geeks. And I say this as a gen owner who never so much as changed a strap or adjusted my own links before I owned a rep!

Thanks! It has really gotten a lot of nice commentaries today, on all 3 boards. This is what a WIS or watch fancier lives for. Yes, I do, Raymond. Guys, when I told you I bought 50 watches in 2 months, I wasn't kidding. I know it seems crazy...but as Kollektor says, OCD collecting and watches are a fatal mix. I have one ready to go! But as my mother mentioned, look at all the negative energy the last collection of PAMs and straps got you. Maybe she's right. Some people take "showing" as "showing off"... So, I don't know if I'll ever post it. Besides, I'm always adding to it, so it'll never be a complete collection photo! Perhaps I too will do a "How can you tell a Newb Collection from a Senior Member's Collection" post in 1 years time.

Good idea about the great re-uniting thread for pics. Also, I did specify the gender, yes. And FWIW, I said "please please no bling-bling". I can't see myself wearing that Frankenblingtona with leopard jewels someone posted here...

Not sure if this is bad form to reproduce this here, but here is his post on RWI: "Summer End Sale - at US$19.99 u choose brand we choose watch Reply with quote From now to end of this month, 2007-08-14 to 2007-08-31, with every order you place with www.watchsilix.com or www.silix-prime.com , you could opt to get a watch from www.watchsilix.com for additional US$19.99, you choose the brand, and we pick a watch from the brand. US$19.99 only, no additioanl shipping for it either. A good price for a happy suprise. Please email us at silixprime@gmail.com." As long as your email reads 31 August, go for it. That's what I'd say.

This is me reading your post: "Ouch! OUCH! Ooh...poor thing. Yipes! Aww (Wife/Oregon). Isn't Oregon the most naturally beautiful State in America? Other than Hawaii, California, Florida, Washington, Vermont etc. etc. etc.... Mille Miglia & long shorts, just no! Ouch! Awww. Hehe. What a great guy." Feel better. Great story, darling!

FRIDAY NARIKAA STRIKES AGAIN! Following Hambone's lead here is the Hublot Big Bang Aspen in faux white-ceramic against a sea of Bay of Biscayne blue. TeeJay will see this and freak! A closeup of the rather nice dial. Mmm. Perfect for tanned arms! P.S.: I realised one thing when I took this photo yesterday. That my mother is the only other person on earth I know who doesn't think I'm crazy taking snapshots of my wrists at every opportunity. SATURDAY Here is my newly arrived Walter PVD strap on my DSN 112. Not too shabby! Plus you get a sneak peak of what I'll be wearing Sunday. But first -- my trademarked cut-out shot of the strap, with Strap Culture PVD buckle. SUNDAY Sunday being bling-bling day, I'll trot out yet another new watch: the Chopard Happy Sport XL series, with rare yellow band. Pretty as a picture! And that's because it is. @Puggy: THE FLIEGER! That or the Steelfish yes. They'll both knock the socks off those cold-weather baskets up there. @Star: HEY! Doral. ...went to play the Blue Monster there, but the green fees prevented a return. I made a 10 on that hole too...

I'm sorry I missed this review, due to RWG being slow/down! Nice job, Andreww. You made me interested in my own Mini-Fiddy, easily my least liked rep watch because of QC issues. That strap is perfect with it. Hmm!

:clap2: The whole review is classic By-Tor, and it's really difficult to add praise that sounds novel, or genuine, that you must not have heard before, my darling. But truly, thank you for this! Coincidentally, we are in the market again for a Daytona (this time in white) so it couldn't have come at a better moment. About the photo which stood out for me. How long did it take you to size it, so that it was visually perfect?? Incredible compare-contrast photo, By-Tor. You rock. (EDIT: STEPHANE TOO, THANKS! Fancy the thoughtful delicacy of adding links so that By-Tor could wear it. What a gentleman) @By-Tor: Gotta get me a copy of Photoshop. I use Paint...

Vmena, FxrAndy, HE JUST REPLIED! So if you guys don't get a reply soon, please let me know, since I have his "ear", as it were. Just about to pay now, so it's all systems go here. Good luck! I did direct him to this post, so if you guys have any questions, post them -- Jay might see them. @u31st: I wish I could give you the payment info he gave me, but I think that's streng verboten on the forum. However, I just emailed him my payment details, and said to please answer the past emails with pending orders. We'll see!

We have a coinage!! The Batwatch it is. Wow, I feel like I was present when someone first coined the PAM 127, the Fiddy.

Not sure if this is known on this site, but Jay of watchsilix.com and silix-prime.com (one of out trusted collectors) has a Summer Special. Buy one or more watches on either of his two sites above, and choose another watch for just U$19.99, which will come from the watchsilix.com site exclusively -- there's a catch, you choose the marque of watch, and he or his staff choose the exact model. It's random luck what you get. It ends today, August 31. I'm assuming he would honour the orders emailed today, even though he hasn't personally responded to my order email last night... I'm going for this Rolex Daydate, with my second choice of watch another Rollie. I suddenly felt like getting them: http://www.watchsilix.com/product.asp?id=1455 (28 Euro. Probably costs 5 Euro in Guangzhou High Street, but not where I am. I just hope I don't get a bling-bling freakolex as my second watch) Just thought you guys may want in on the Special too.

I had seen this watch before, and thought, EWW. But the more I look at it...the more it's growing on me. Are Hublot Big Bangs my new Panerai? Not. But they are interesting watches. Yes. I believe in Sweden they are called "p r i c k s" right? In other words, dots like "umlauts" are called this enormously amusing word to English ears.
-
Ma che cosa?? No nice straps arrived from the US yet, still the rep strap, Stephane? P.S.: The AP RO is still the best watch I've seen you wearing. It does something very sexy to you...

The Love Parade and all its equivalents are for me combined what Room 101, Dante's 4th Zone in the 9th Circle of Inferno (seated next to Judas Iscariot and John Wayne Gacy in his clown costume) and being condemned to watch The View for eternity, must be like.

Hee Haw theme song antics aside, where are: - Ubiquitous? - Eunomians? - Miss Understood? - Rek001 (Rima)? - Who else can you think of that has gone missing? I see Gunnar Gran came back, thus shattering that vbarrett-GG urban legend (which I rather enjoyed actually). @L-Dizzle: That's more alarming. I guess we can put Sashwatch into this category too then...hope it turns out well for you! (NOTE: Correction on the dealer's name. Newbie apologies to the member from RWI!)

Erwinner, guys, I'll respond to the remaining comments tomorrow, but I had actually logged off when I saw that Timeconnection.biz -- Mario Paci, Toscana, etc. -- are running a 50% off special on all items, except Daily Specials. Use this coupon at checkout: 50%_off_Special! This is really a very special deal for all of you interested in quality Italian straps. And no, I won't be posting these specials all the time -- just thought this one was pretty special. Wednesday only but I'm sure he'll discontinue it only when he wakes up in Texas, his time, Thursday. UPDATE: Ooh, just noticed the second strap, the Vacchetta Nero is on super special for USD33.33 plus shipping! That would not be included in the 50% off, of course, but still a good price. Another interesting Daily Special one is a honey crocodile strap at 69.99. http://timeconnection.biz/page/timeco/CTGY/Special

"V Track this topic V Email this topic V Print this topic V Download this topic V Subscribe to this forum Display Modes V Switch to: Outline V Standard V Switch to: Linear+" That's all I see, Admin, although I did once see that bump topic in the scroll-down menu, after you pointed that out. @Admin: Ah right, that would explain why I don't see it.

Guys, shortly after RWG crapped out last night, I got a PM on RWI from our own, Gioarmani. He asked if I could post his farewell to you guys, here. I said, sure! So Bon Voyage, Gio! "Last post for the month--will return in a couple of weeks. Wishing for good luck on the journey! Decided to celebrate with a bit of the ol' Epernay. Cheers to all, and bon voyage!! Take care of yourselves." - gioarmani7428

Boy, I missed you guys! WEDNESDAY Since summer is leaving us, I'm putting on my brand-new DSN 112h, with the appropriately named Moroccan Sunset by TOOTALL of RWI! Stunning combo on this versatile PAM model. Throw anything on it, and it plays. And TT's strap plays real good. Look at that royal blue thread in the sun, with the DSN PAM 112 on my wrist! THURSDAY Unfortunately for me and my love affair, I have an appointment today needing a more formal watch. So I'm taking out the SS Gucci Twirl from Andrew -- remember I showed you guys the gold version? Well, Mum and I have both versions in gens and reps. But the moment I come home, I'm putting back on the PAM 112 with Toots strap 'cause... ...I WUBS SO MUCH! 3 holes, yes! @P4GTR: (Dan Aykroyd voice as Louis Winthorpe III in Trading Places) Feeling good, PG4TR! Ho ho ho ...and nice followup Sub!

The hot watches for ladies are the ceramics. The problem is I cannot stand these, save for the Hublot Big Bang Aspen, which I am getting from Narikaa, a famous collector here. You could PM him for ideas. Another problem with me is that I have specifically classic tastes for ladies' watches, sticking to Cartier and Rolex when I was growing up. I still mourn the loss of my Two-Tone Rolex DJ I had for yeeears, but which was the victim of an errant golf club swing (crown fell off, never was the same again. Rolex wanted to charge a fortune to fix it, so we are just hanging on to it for the moment). Since I have boku ladies' gens, it really never has occured to me to get reps, or to see if the reps are available of the ones I have. But just so that you know, the Technomarine Ceramic (gen site below) and J12, the Chanel equivalent, are very popular right now. The latter has some great reps. http://www.worldofwatches.com/Technomarine...o_brand_id=2301

Hey Ssabripo! Gosh, I don't like that Omega...if your wife is like a lot of women, she might care more for the Omega Constellation. The TT quart seems to be fairly popular amongst members' wives, as I recall one or two posts saying that. As for Gucci, I really don't care for their spindly, spaghetti thin ladies watches, but the one you showed is quite fashionable at the moment. Neither my mother nor I have the rep, sticking to the Twirl instead (of which we have the gens). I still have to show the SS one, but here is the gold rep by Andrew -- very close to gen: Does she have or would her style be in tune with the Cartier Santos? One of the most wonderful watches ever designed. Another good one is the Cartier Tankissime (Joshua): I have been trying to vary my wrist-checks, especially on the weekend, with traditionally "female" watches, but one thing I will never do, and you can take this to the bank, is to have a Panerai watch with pink lume. Might get a pink strap though. Good luck, neighbour! OTHER GOOD INFO THREADS ON LADIES' WATCHES: - "Aarrrgh the misses (sic) loses watch" (rather nice SS Omega Constellation shown) - Lazarini's "Getting a piece for my better half" - Also, this is By-Tor's girlfriend's Tag Heuer review: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=14263 - Recent "Watch for a Lady" thread

No problems, Admin. I'd like to upgrade my boyfriend's account, if I can, on his behalf though he has one whole post to his name (you can see who is going to be the listener in our family). Is that a possibilty, giving you his ID via PM? If not, let's just call it a donation.

Good response. I offered my translation services shortly after I posted, and mentioned Scotty & Plaifender as other Hispanophones who could possibly help him out. Two Brits and an American. Gotta love it. Yes, he again said "armix" which I would never have understood, if not for his immediate clarification "correa de acero" (SS bracelet). Thanks Ptolomeo for that insight into the vocab of Spanish rep forums, too. I'm guessing Edge and he will have some problems comprehending each other, same as Stephane and he, so I will tell him what to write in clear English, so it doesn't go awry. If any of you have already "solved" this matter of finding the best, most authentic SS bracelets for his MBW watches, with Elias via PM, please post! I fear inundating his PM box... @Ptolomeo: There I go again! I made the same mistake with a German forum once. Are there any foreign-language rep-only forums?
-
Don't excited your Zen sensibilities, Sssurfer! It was me freaking on "Babelfish" translations from one language to another, in the "Spanish" thread by Stephane. Lazarini recommended that he use that online service (until he awaited the arrival of a Hispanophone) which how ever important in general, is horrendous in actually conveying meaning. I asked him to translate into English what they had translated INTO Italian, to see if he got it. Well, he didn't reply, but just as well. I forgot what I said about the Pope (whom I love).
