  1. I hate to pile on regarding the deployants but I am looking at a gen polished deployant on my wrist as I speak. The deployant should not be fully polished and the "panerai" on the outside is way off unless the engraving on the deployants for H series and onward changed.

    Boo, Kruzer00. :bangin:

I think it's been established that DSN's accessories after-the-fact (:p) are badly conceived. I still like his logo buckle, but it's no where near being close to gen.

In fact, amusingly enough, Greg Stevens' new Fatty Buckle (only a California boy would think of this Fatty Arbuckle hommage) resembles DSN's buckles so much, that I wonder if he took one to a ironmonger, and said, here copy this and slap GSD on it.

Again, I love that kind of buckle, but I did smile when I got my new buckle from him.

The boo comes in being the first reply and being negativo in tone. Men.

GREAT PICS! Raymond. My God, so much eye-candy review today on RWG. Someone get me an insulin shot! (Not you DBR)

  2. what's your problem exactly Vic? That it's portrays a Communist revolutionary? Like TMG I also appreciate the irony of such a man looking for all the world like he could be sitting in some high-backed leather chair in some gentlemans' club off St James', smoking a Romeo Y Julieta with a Rolex on his arm :D

I KNOW THAT, DBR (oops caps lock. Ah well, I'll leave it there).

I just hate looking at that mush anyway.

I'm sure if you kept your own avatar the same for more than 48 hours, we too could get the chance to irrationally hate them too :p

Hell, you hate them after 3 minutes. You can't fool me! :p

  3. Oh, and I forgot... Here's a wristshot (for Mademoiselle Victoire) ^_^

    07wrist1pp5.jpg

Your reviews, and By-Tors, are one of the best things of being on RWG. So complete, so professional. A joy, every paragraph.

My father has a Malte Vacheron and as a gen owner, it's interesting to reverse caps for a moment, and see how close to the original these makers can get them.

Okay, the subdials are off, and thus the missing markers, as you say. Another great conjecture, which I have long thought the same, was that our collectors re-use the cases for one particular model to another, even though it's a different dimension altogether.

But overall, tell me, who can fault the quality of this watch? AND it has a working chrono! Amazing.

I find the price a little steep for my purposes, but I am very glad to hear that Watchmark has provided you with good service. I was considering purchasing one from him, but was scared since I had never heard of him (he sounds like another Andrew, IRT answering emails. A BIG plus for me).

Now, when you say that in your part of the World no one knows VC, I find that very unlikely! The French may not look like they're looking or interested, but your average Frenchman IN MY EXPERIENCE, I rush to say, knows what a Vacheron Constantin is.

They must be as impressed as I am. :)

    Great review, Pix. Comme d'habitude!

  4. I keep mentioning this watch, but my Franck Muller Crazy Hours get the most smiles/notice/conversation. They might notice the rest, but perhaps people expect a rolex or something.

    :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Second only to the HBBs, my Crazy Hours makes women and kids stop in their tracks.

EDIT: Except Norwegian German possiby gay rich Nazis.

    franckmulleraventurawricb4.jpg

An uncharacteristic shot of me with closed fist. I find that kind of shot gross.

  5. I think the cake decorator must previously have worked for a Chinese rep engraver.

There, now we've established the relationship to watches. This thread is safe for General Discussion.

    Nice week!

  6. Some of these shots are fantastic, any chance you fantastic photographers will upload some high-resolution shots? I'd love to have some of these as my wallpapers, but I have a pretty big screen (1920x1280)

Yes please! Even Ola's lips, though it might surprise my parents when they pass by. ;)

BTW, is there an end-date to this contest? We want resolution!!

(A little photography humour for ya)

  7. Actually the thread is not gone and Mark has responded suggesting the mystery person contact him directly to resolve his issue directly. Those who felt the need to "out" him should be satisfied and those who don't care - don't care. ;)

Don't see what you're saying, Kru, but I can imagine what happened.

"# WHY WAS MY THREAD DELETED???? View entire thread - XXXX on Nov 10, 2007, 3:39 PM

    * Simon, if you had the courtesy to leave an email address I would tell you... - XXXX on Nov 10, 2007, 3:58 PM"

BTW, the chickenturd pansy who outted me didn't have an email either.

  8. Okay, I was waiting and waiting for the rep watch related content. Since I realise there is none, let me just say:

The UNDER NEAT totally threw me. I was like, "She's a neat freak? She cleans her bottom all the time? She's always in the loo -- what?".

Oh God, the woman who took down the info not only got that wrong, but misunderstood the NEATH. HEHEHEHEHE.

  9. One of my favourite toipics or is it favorite Ms Barrett?

I'm lapping this thread up, WB! For once, I have NO CLUE what anyone is saying, nor can I add a dissertation on the history of Ducati.

    More more more guys!

(I can't believe Euno isn't all over this thread. I'm thinking of PMing him)

  10. That broken one, for instance, is almost a lange 1, something i've been looking for for a while now, but they discontinued them.

I thought about you, the moment I read Beowoulf's title "Lange". Guess my dad lucked out with that one bought here...

Beo, welcome again darling. Man, I hope you don't mean the forum I'm thinking, because I just said they were the friendliest around. ;(

Hope you are well, and I'm sure you'll love it here! That watch is a beauty, no matter if its fantasy or not.

  11. People in Houston are very good people, from my time there. Great place to live except for the crushing heat.

Not just the heat. The HUMIDITY. That's the scourge of the South...

With apologies to our Dallas RWG'ers, but your city has all that, and it's dusty. REALLY dusty. With bad highways. Was that just a fluke when I went there (mid-90s) or is that the case always?

Re: Watches, what I find more amusing is when 2 people (say, me and another guy) are in a coffee shop, w/sleeves rolled up and big fancy watches on, and trying to check out each other's watch without being obvious. Sort of a furtive glance / look away / look back / avoid eye contact dance. Quite funny actually. ;)

Reading this is like getting a secret peak into the world of men.

Because the furtive glances, the look aways, whispers, look backs is something which is par for the course for women. Only we're not so furtive.

    Love it!

  12. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, we've had some interesting watch building chats, I just don't want to take advantage of him. I told him that, and he said thanks, can you get it or what? I have money. Money is the one thing my father always taught me to never say no to. I sell stuff left and right to strangers, cars, phones, computers, satellite equipment, but I never really took pleasure at making a profit off of someone I know. This guy sure doesn't seem to mind though.

Stop me if you've heard me say this before :p, but I know plenty of rich people like that. HOWEVER...

Maybe he just doesn't want the hassle.

...this situation still sounds fishy to me, llsteve80. It's almost as if there is a fall to be taken, he'd rather you take it at some point.

You're nice. I personally would've ditched him long ago.

    Stay sharp. Good luck.

  13. His cases are his cases, his crown guards are his crown guards, and his bracelets are his bracelets. I don't get it.

I guess it's easy to explain for me. I don't want to go the modding route.

And of the 17 PAMs I have, the finish and quality of his cases are exceptional. No comparison whatsoever with any other I've bought from several sources.

So, if you're the tinkering kind, you may want to forego DSN. If you want a straight out of the box piece of "perfection" (minus quality control and dial issues), go with Davidsen.

    IMHO.

  14. merc1.jpg

Now, don't kill me, I am Mercedes girl through and through. But I do believe BMW make a more beautiful red. Fire engine red, rather than the Merc's candy apple red (a hint of white and orange in it).

Good luck with whatever you decide and POST THOSE PICS!

Thanks! I'll definitely say when I've bought it! :)

But my parents have rules about me being online. No pics of myself, of gens, of inside our home, or a full shot of cars and possessions we have...sucks being a girl online sometimes.

    Other times it's great.

  15. And to preempt the next obvious thread (The watch that receives the least notice)

    vc_patek.jpg

When I met old President Bush, this plain Patek was the watch he was wearing on a blue/red grosgrain strap. It was so casual, and yet so elegant. I think he could get away with that because he's King Prep. Anyone else, and it would look retarded.

(Hmm, actually his watch was a little flatter. Still, same idea!)

    Ain't life grand?

    :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  16. vbarrett, what are you in the market for particularly? A roadster? A PROPER roadster? Or just a pretty convertible?

Pretty convertible. Probably a second-hand Mercedes one. In January, I get my dividends etc. from investments, so I'll be flush for exactly a few days. :p

Fortunately, I was always told December-January are excellent times to purchase cars.

(My dad is unwell, as you know, so we have to sell off his 5-series Beemer. Thus my car which you see in Wristchecks will revert to my mother, and I'll need new, less big wheels)
