V! I can't imagine this beauty is for me! Efharisto!!

Just to give you some insight, I had given V three choices for the all-important thread to accompany this gorgeous demi-burgundy strap.

    kthreads1qo7.jpg

The champagne was Number 1. The white one was Number 2, as I wanted a contrast stitch to the Metta and PAV 91, which both have golden thread. And finally, Number 3, because I haven't any red strap with cocoa stitching.

It was V who convinced me that the third choice would be the perfect vintage look for my PAM 232, for which the strap is intended.

AND HE WAS RIGHT! Look at it. Vlydog, you seeing this?? Order a second one, dude! :p

THANK YOU V!! You're a master strapmaker in my eyes!

  2. The best movie this year? The Transformers.

Trust me! For us guys who will never grow up, this movie is amazing!

This has been an ABOVE average summer movie season. Transformers lost out to Number 1, Die Hard 4.0 for ME, but I loved Transformers too. Not just because I grew up with the cartoons, because I rarely watched it.

But because I love to see New "Everyman" Shia LeBoeuf in anything. And as mentioned, Megan Fox was HOT.

  3. First, yes, I don't say "movies" usually except when around Americans. But it's an international forum, so sue me. ;)

Second, due to my cold, I haven't had a chance to watch many new releases, except the ones I receive as sneak previews for review. Here go a few of my quickie film review capsules for your consideration.

Hey, when a ticket costs $7.50-$13.00, depending where in the US you are, or

  4. I thought I would share some old friends... I paired my Reps with my genuine Meerchaum pipes... hand carved by Master Carver Yanick..

One of the best, most inventive Wristchecks I've ever seen, Lanikai! Congrats! :)

Don't get me wrong. I loved the pirate, the skull, and the couple doing a bit of the ole' insides-outsides, but this is just awesome!

I never plan what I'm going to wear... but maybe these maybe not :D

    Tease!

  5. MONDAY

Hoping to have recovered 100% from my blasted cold -- and to keep my spirits up, my new A Series OEM Brown Alligator strap on the DSN PAM 112. My dream come true ever since I saw Crown Prince Felipe's!

    TUESDAY

    I'm cheating today.

RWG member, Pix, had a magnificent review of his Vacheron Constantin watch this weekend, and I wanted to show him and you my dad's Vacheron Constantin Malte Quanti

  6. Mine is definitely a Time Connection strap. The hide may have indeed come from elsewhere.

Great quality strap, but no longer available (at lease it's not listed)

    Indeed -- it's a collector's item!

They START at $320 at Camille Fournet. I'd say anything below that was a steal, Estaban. :tu:

  7. TC strap.

    Check again.

If it says Timeconnection.biz on the inside of the strap, and you think it's a Toscana, hang on, because they used to sell Camille Fournets 4 years ago. It could be left-over (but very beautiful) hide! :)

EDIT: Check this out, Estaban, guys. This is what TC sent me some time ago.

    standard.jpg

I made a mistake up top. My Beavertail is a Camille Fournet NOT an APB. I'll correct that.

And it seems that my glossy black beavertail is the equivalent of the TC1. Yours would be either the TC10 or TC14, if the hunch is right. A giveaway price!

  8. I just looked at DSNs pics of this watch and he should seriosly think about re taking the pics or using maximilions shots, on the sales shots is looks like a boreing sausage dail, in maxes pics the shines and sparkles!

I am constantly stunned by the low quality of shots offered by some collectors. Some verge on the deceptive (but in the good sense -- once I got used to it, I "compensated" in my mind for what I was about to get, because the pics looked crappy), or dilettante.

DSN's pics...so-so. But for the money he charges, I'd certainly get professional shots done of my watches. Who can forget this lovely photo, showing a rather shadowy figure in the background?

    DSCF5476.jpg

I called it The Ghost of Davidsen's Past.

  9. Well, so far we have two character references in Kruzer00 and b16a2 (who pleads for his post not to be responded to. Heh, some hopes).

That's pretty good I'd say, given the weight of what was written, and the calibre of the gentlemen involved.

I don't know if Mark will be trusted or not in future, but at least you know there are two people who stuck their necks out when this matter was still red hot, and called him "Friend". One should be so lucky.

  10. That is stunning, i dont think i have ever seen one before, blown away,

Hey! I was the one who suggested Maxi buy the Toscana Amber strap...and it looks GORGEOUS. Like they were made for each other.

i think now i know what my wife is getting for christmas! Vic would you think she would like it?

    Oh my word YES.

For me, on the next-to-buy-from-DSN, it's either the 232 or the 082. I think I want a change of pace with the Radiomir, but this is a no-brainer.

BUY IT! Mrs. Andy will love it. :)

(Goes great with "lady colour" straps, in case she likes those. I'm speaking specifically of whites, beiges, and light tans)

EDIT: Don't forget to check the Daily Specials for a low-priced Amber. Not currently on offer though.

  11. Magnum (Tom Selleck's) GMT Master... with the only real color combo for the Rolex purists: Pepsi.

    MagnumPI-Rolex.jpg

Newbie question: Were the 80s Pepsi Subs smaller? Aren't they all one size?

Reason I ask is that the watch looks tiny on Selleck's wrist. Having IMDB'ed for his height, I see he and my father are precisely the same height. But dad's gen Sub covers nearly his whole wrist, and doesn't look small compared to this photo.

Of course, men of similar heights can have different body builds, and Selleck's wrist could be very big, but still...

@TMG: Yay! Lovely pic, is that watch yours?? I think I'll rip off your Che idea, giving it my own spin. Stay tuned. ;)

  12. Thanks for the advice. You're right. If I can get a new for 4750, it might be more attractive than a 2nd hand for around 4. I have never heard of this dealer, Alan Furman, is he wellknown and with a good reputation?

Alan Furmans are an established discount jewelry/watch emporium. My mother has bought from them. I would say, research, but yes.

  13. He DID make the first move to try and repair things with this post, if he were a scammer, why would he get himself entangled in an apology... To try and get the people's trust and then rip them off again? Call me naive if you want, but it just doesn't make sense to waste your time like this. I believe there are a lot more people out there getting scammed on bestswissrepever.com kind of websites than compared to the people who are on RWG and with the knowledge he has, he could definitely make a lot more money scamming people that way than here on RWG.

Actually, one of the theories (or shall we say, question as to motive) posed by Lanikai on top is interesting...hope you read that.

If a lot of you folks are adamant on your position about Mark, it won't change a thing anyways, he wouldn't get far or away with anything on RWG and I think he knows that and we all do as well.

I give the Admin team a lot of credit for not banning Mark outright. It shows a spirit of incredible fair play to allow someone the chance to defend himself, at a later date, given what happened.

(Banning was the case with Smushed-Finger-Joe, as I call him, whose services were no longer required after many outrageous modding attempts, and with no show of contrition...)

Anyways, I just hope that Mark is true to his words and that he will truly try his best to make reparations to those who need it.

    I'm sure he will. Now.

  14. A hint of things to come... Emily's stepdad used his camcorder to try and get a shot of my 111h underwater, but I've not yet seen the footage, so not too sure how the footage will look or if it will be suitable for a screen shot. Also, when I can get a camera and a free moment (might not be for a week as I've got a load of work to catch up on  ) I'll be posting some pics of my PVD'd PAM :)

Thanks for your (as ever) understanding, TeeJay! I read about the PVD PAM up top, wow! Not too sure brown straps would look best. I'll throw in a nice tan for it, unless you have one already. Would help enormously if you could take a shot of the straps you have now. :)

As for the underwater shot, I am in awe. Check out the History of Underwater watches (a thread I started after you left) for a personal reason why.

Either way, I can't wait! Be they underwater, or just regular. :tu:

P.S.: Hey, anyone have underwater shots of their watches? Maybe one of you can start a thread?? :D

  15. Yes I know the question was posted in July with no response, but I just answered this same question yesterday at RWG1. In Smokin' Aces, Jeremy Piven is wearing a Polanti G Zone

Brilliant! Thanks so much. I wondered ever since watching SA a few weeks ago.

    BTW, Jfreeman, didn't like it.

It tried too hard to be a cross between the Vegas hipster elegance of Ocean's 11 (well Ocean's 13), plus incredibly some Keira Knightley "Domino" watch your back storyline. It even had some 007 and Sopranos into the bargain.

And no, I'm not using my Vittorio de Sica/Luchino Visconti/Jean Renoir/Max Oph
