  1. here are a couple of pictures, not so good but i hope you enjoy them!

What "not so good". Very good! Effort in finding the right background, too.

    My two favourite. :tu:

That Bob carbon is flawless on this watch! I just posted a Fiddy Toscana carbon strap in the Wristchecks, and it's easily as nice, if not nicer than mine. The stitchwork on the Bob looks better.

If I had to give you a suggestion for your next strap, Reklamkillen, this is the one:

    mfbluern8.jpg

That is a gen 253, on a custom-made Manifatture Firenze strap (Sportech, with specially-bought blue thread). They can custom-make straps, but they must be pricey.

Another suggestion, is the Greg Steven's Toro Moro with blue-stitch:

Thanks for posting shots of this beautiful PAM.

  2. I let him know in a round about way. My first message to him was "Let me know if the Panerai turns out to be genuine".

Something occured to me yesterday, but I didn't think it right to cast aspersions on the buyer.

Still, I wonder if he really bought an 108k Patek Philippe OR if it is a duplicate account of the guy selling the Fiddy? That way you can leave yourself good feedback on a pricey item for future (larger) scams.

-- The one logistical hole is that there were plenty of others who wanted to buy the watch, but maybe the seller got nervous, and decided to bail on his own item. It also presumes a third dupe account, WRT the Patek --

This must happen ALL the time on Fleabay. Ironically, dupe accounts as we have seen daily here for a while..., are immediately removed I presume by targetting the IP of the member trying to cloak himself on RWG.

Fancy that, a rep watch forum has more care in protecting its members than the world's largest boot sale.

Not to mention its membership are trying to protect others from being scammed. Not Fleabay, that's for sure.

  3. There is certainly nothing wrong with davidsen's cases but a standard 005 from josh is a pretty nice dial. Sure it may have some issues but nothing a relume could not fix.

    I see.

I just do not understand davidsen.

Well, there's a language barrier. :bleh:

If an iwc or hublot rep was released that had the wrong main font, wrong shape numbers and wrong tint lume this board would be all over that.

Do not even get me started on his new 111h. It is actually a G series dial that looks like he cut around the numbers to make it a sandwich dial. It is atrocious.

I don't know like you know, but something in my gut told me not to get it. It just doesn't sit right with me. I do have to say his u112 that I got is excellent, though.

I have had the standard josh/andrew 005 next to my gen. It is really quite close. on the dial.

Very good. I've never bought from Josh (my mum has) but I may turn to Andrew if things don't work out.

Get a dsn and a standard and swap the dial. haha....expensive though.

Decisions, decisions. Gen 005 in Summer '08, or rep 005 for Christmas, and gen 111 in Summer '08?

Either way, thanks for the input, Chad!

Whatever you do I strongly discourage buying into dsn hype. Is it a mystery I will never understand.

It's quite simple, and it's all about one's personality.

1- If you buy reps for their accuracy, perhaps don't go to Davidsen.

2- If you buy reps for their quality, Davidsen is your man.

I understand that accuracy is part of quality, but I mean in terms of heft and sleekness.

Oh, and another thing is that there are people who don't want to spend hundreds more and wait, and possibly get their watch ruined by a modder.

Of course, there are gold standards of modders on this and other boards, who you could entrust your watch with TOTAL EASE -- but I don't like modding. I don't buy rep watches because I necessarily want to pass them off as gens.

This desperation to mod, to better crappy fonts, get datewheels, AR, and apply lume, when it's not to tinker with a watch like guys love to do, something inherently male I think, is just not why I buy rep watches.

I have gens, I can get gens, but I love being able to possess 17, going on 18 Panerai watches, just because. I LOVE THAT.

  4. They look like chinatown stuff!!!

Actually, any info, suggestions, or references you may have, Chad, will be greatly appreciated. I canceled the pending PM to DSN yesterday and was about to email him instead. Maybe it's a sign from on-high to look around a bit.

    TIA!

There but for the grace of God, go I. I'm sorry for them...

    Thanks, Corgi. Most interesting.

  6. It would be great if I could get a couple of responses (with pics if possible) of the sought after reps along with price range of what they generally go for around here to help me aid in purchasing.

Waloo, did you check out my recent Lange 1 (Timezone) pictorial review?

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=61072

These are very hard-to-find watches. In the thread, one of the trusted forum collectors (as rep watch dealers are referred to here) showed his (Richard) Lange watches, in three dial colours. He and others were unanimous in saying the Lange 1 reps are awful, and besides as mentioned, difficult to find.

However, I am PMing you a recent link I received. Caveat emptor. It's not from a known dealer HERE, but it is the only other place where these rare watches are found. :o

  7. Moved my reply here from the wrist check thread.

    Nice TAG Vic! :)

Thanks! All down to you and your girlfriend having modelled it. Should you feel it appropriate, BT, please show her these photos. :)

Apparently they have enlarged the bracelet (which is good). Lots of people complained that the old one didn't fit on their gf's/wives. It was really small.

Oh cripes, that's good. Sizing a watch down is no problem, but when the watch doesn't fit from the box, you can almost bin it. I usually have to take from 4-6 links from any watch I receive, though I do like to wear mine tight.

It's not completely the same watch as my gf's. Yours has some subtle differences, like larger crown, different date window, dial and pearl. But very nice, either way. I suspect yours has a screw-down crown, which is definitely a plus.

    Yes, it's a screw-down!

Don't berate me for the n00b question, but seeing how the caseback is rock solid closed, and it's a screw-down crown, does this mean it COULD tolerate a dip in the jacuzzi?

Some silicone on the crown, perhaps?

    Enjoy!

PS: The bezel should definitely turn counter-clockwise. Is yours stuck?

Thanks! I just twirled it again, gently, and it did finally move. The pearl is at the 6 o'clock posish now though. :p

  8. FRIDAY

I'm late to the Wristies, but I have some surprises!

Here's my lovely new Narikaa Ladies Tag Link watch, as reviewed by By-Tor here. :tu:

    taglinkwristienb4.jpg

It's SMALL. Very small. That's my tiny Rolex 25mm MOP Salmon dial next to it. :animal_rooster:

    taglinkrolexdjmopsalmonht7.jpg

    You little beauty!

    taglinkladiesfacebu2.jpg

Only thing though -- I was scared I hadn't asked Narikaa for extra links, having read in By-Tor's review that the Tag Links were meant for Asian lady wrists, and not Caucasian ones. That's as may be, but I need to have it sized by two or three links! :o

Check out my little lizard buddy next to the TWP PAM 217. :D

    Gorgeous Toscana Siena Carbon strap.

It's been off and on again in the Daily Specials, sometimes as low as $19.99. Bah, I bought it for twice that. Worth every penny -- look at that sparkle!

You gots Christmas parties? Me too. You gots bling? Me too.

  9. Please check this out and if it turns out to be a rep i hope somebody saves these bidders from a expensive mistake by reporting this to ebay. If its genuine then my eyes are getting old.... Ebay item # 110203388046

Let me know what you think? Thanks, Wan

Interesting. The watch's provenance is very dodgy (check out the questions asked & answered section); two months old and no papers.

You know there was a Fiddy stolen from a Risti member around two months ago -- it disappeared from the back of a FedEx lorry. IIRC, it wasn't in its box. It was traced to an eBay dealer, and the owner didn't keep others updated so I don't know what happened.

I see at least one Risti member asking a question about it, and others even openly trying to buy it OUTSIDE of eBay, which contravenes their rules. Phone number and everything, hooboy, that's desperation.

The strap is the butterscotch one, and the case looks like a rep box BUT I think the watch itself is real. This could be that missing Fiddy...or it could be another Fiddy that went missing, like a famous Risti member's 127 that was lifted from the table en pleine GTG in NYC!

    Check it out: hxxp://www.network54.com/Forum/385842/

"Operation Save the Fiddy". Beautiful. Anyway, Wan, hope this isn't a scam...

EDIT: Oh 117? Fake. Looks like an Eddie Lee Special at that. Message to eBay to alert them coming up.

  10. A gen Panerai is HIGH on my current wish list. If I could stop spending money on wine, good Belgian beer and cigars (a few of my vices joined by road cycling and golf) - I could swing it shortly! Having said that, if my second quarter at work is anything like this one is shaping up to be, by the end of March I'll have my 112 or 005. If not, I'll have a DSN on my wrist.

Wow, I had heard from my postman that the Christmas rush is down, so I thought, maybe people aren't out there spending on/sending presents. Slow-down of the economy and all that. Guess it's still okay in some areas.

BTW - got home from a tough day of getting kicked in the teeth to find a box from Taiwan on my desk.

    Yay!

Wonder if this is why we collect watches? What other affordable commodity gives us so much pleasure, than the rush of happiness you get when you know a watch is coming or arrived?

    Let's see...sex? No, that's not a commodity. That's a luxury.

"Mr. River delivers. . . "(in best David Caruso voice as the head cocks sideways)

Need the straps to show, but I'll snap a few on rubber. Rubber is cool, right? :whistling:

Eh. Look at what I found at CQout, searching for a cheaper 005.

  11. *blushing*

    :bleh:

Davidsen hasn't answered my PM to him in 2 days; not a bad thing, since I've been thinking -- maybe I like the 005 SO MUCH that I'll buy a gen of it next summer. Why have this one, if so?

That was always my rationale with the 111, since I thought that was going to be my choice for the gen. I thus never bothered to get a modded one from DSN, TWP or Angus, or anyone.

Maybe I SHOULD get the 232 for Christmas, since I know I can't afford the gen of that now. But your 005 is so pretty; I love it so much.

Decisions, decisions. Any help would be appreciated...

EDIT: Oh! Link to a gen 005 being sold in Ozlandia, with pics for your drooling pleasure.

  12. Hi, I'm thinking of buying a watch next week, but I simply cannot decide which one...

Cleobis, let me know if my opinion is skewed because I know you are a classical singer (I'm thinking of all the people you will meet in your profession).

    1. IWC Aquatimer Chrono Slevin.

Beautiful, but too informal. As you say, perhaps not a Super Rep yet.

    2. Hublot BB SS - Lite version.

Of the choices you gave us, this is the one. Precious Time in the UK has one, IIRC.

    3. Tag Heuer Carrera Limited edition.

Classic, but perhaps too classic. You need something that will make you stand out, be in fashion, and yet be both for formal occasions and leisure moments.

Along the lines you quoted, I would also suggest an AP ROO. Boa sorte! :)

    P.S.: Congrats on getting upgraded!
