  1. At dollar-euro parity, you're talking about more than $100,000 per year.

I think he was factoring in the C$, but if not, wow, good point!

The bottom line is that it all depends on the life you want to live: some people find it hard to tear themselves away from Paris (personally, I have a love/hate relationship with it) and others prefer a hybrid existence, alternating periods of time in the capital with relaxing down-time in a country place in the provinces.

Having a little stone house in Normandie or Bretagne is definitely the way to go. It's cooler for one, in summer.

As for the language, yes, but remember that French-Canadians get a lot of stick from the snobby Parigots. If there is a child involved, factor in the school teasing adjustment on that alone.

Mind you, it could be worse, in terms of teasing. They could be Belgian.........

  2. The crown guard.

Barbosas congrats!! It looks beautiful. :)

Yes, the crown guard has the dimple.

The dial looks a bit not centered.

A visual trick, but I noticed the same thing.

On the back, it has officine panerai mispelled.

Wow, that's a new one!! I ran to my DSN 112, and it is okay. Whew.

Just a few things that don't bother me at all. :)

    Good! :)

BTW, you have good taste in straps. *g*

    savstrap1ge2.jpg

Big, thick, chunky, SOFT as butter Savage strap, that DOES look like rubber actually.

  3. Or if you go by The Economists list:

    Tokyo Japan 124

This is the most expensive city I ever LIVED in, not visited. That continues to be Oslo...

Paris wasn't in Tokyo's level, because you can find a lot of bargains in the banlieus. If people don't mind safety concerns, you can even do your shopping by hopping off Bobigny/Pablo Picasso in the Metro...I found shops there that were cheaper than anything in London's East End.

80k per annum in Paris makes you an upper-middle-class person, something tied to education not income, oftentimes, anyway.

If people want to live in a nice Parisian neighbourhood, my choice is Le Marais (III/IVe). I survived there comfortably, with all the mod-coms, and I didn't earn anywhere CLOSE to 80k Euro.

  4. oh yeah i forgot to add the link

I did leave you a followup in my original reply, as is my wont in posts these days to keep replies down, but then I thought -- maybe s/he won't see it.

So just for the record, I don't like that TC croc strap at_all. Looks cheap, comparatively.

However, the followup posts suggest you might be in search of strap suggestions for your PAM 111h in general, yes? You might then be interested in a series of 4 threads I did, recently.

I did a Bob blue shark, but no crocs. If I take it up again, I'll bear the frequent requests of gator/croc straps in mind. :)

(I also passed a rather embarrassing number in terms of straps; I believe I have 200 as of last Saturday...that one was an OEM Bordeaux Glossy Gator, 24/22, in fact. It's stunning. When it arrives, I'll post pics. This is what it is supposed to look like)

OH! This reminds me. You won't believe this, but I have found a way to merge Ajoesmith's Electric Tootbrush thread, with my Coffeemaker one.

The crema is fantastic in my Gaggia Evolution (not as great as that above), but you need to clean it with a Pallo, such as this:

    espressopallong9.jpg

It's less than $10 on ScAmazon, but then there's shipping and the WAIT...no thanks.

So I just hunted down my old $5 Oral-B Cross Action electric toothbrush, and wallah!

    Only on RWG.

  6. Looking at the straps on TC's site and with his 50% special on i found this croc band, would it go with the 111h?

Hmm, dunno about that 50% special, but then I haven't bought a strap from TC for a fortnight. A member just posted his horny croc (heh) strap:

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=65136

Is that the one? I bought it for a friend, and it's fantastic. Looks good on Titanium PAMs too.

or not, i tend to wear both long and short sleev shirts during week for work, and depending on my mood, either black dress shoes or my gator pointy toed ones which are what i would call either a bone colour or very light tan. weekends i wear either casual shoes, jeans and tshirts...

This is member Bazz' photo of his bony croc (hope he doesn't mind me posting this):

    IMG_4218_1.jpg

    And mine in black:

    298012-629.jpg

I think crocs are the way to go, to look smart with PAMs.

@Silvia below: Yeah, I've seen that TC croc before. Don't like. Looks cheap.

  7. That's absolutley fantastic :) As mentioned, not sure if it would be most people's cup of tea, but, my friend's 'aesthetics' are somewhat 'unique', and it should suit him perfectly :) Thanks for doing the test fit for me :)

I took a Wristie but I'm saving it for tomorrow.

    TBH, it looks w.ank. :)

But if these shots can be of service to your chum and to others, so much the better! My pleasure indeed. Point of interest: this strap seems to be a very rare 26/22 size. Usually they're 26/26 or 26/24.

@TeeJay: I only mention the size because you said you have 24mm buckles mostly? So if it doesn't come with one, you might be stuck in gifting him it. Also, I'm glad it's 26/22 since that produces the right amount of "taper" the Radiomirs REALLY should have -- they look more elegant than with a chunky 26/26. :)

  8. what is the price of this strap?

    http://timeconnection.biz/Merchant2/mercha...roduct_Count=25

    $168.88

However, I got it when it was still listed at $179, so TC must've discounted it. It comes infrequently under the Daily Specials.

It's beautiful...I have the black version, bought from Rolli here.

@Tourby: It is not high! It's okay. I myself would only pay up to $89 for one. :p ...but now that I know you sell them, since I receive a LOT of PMs about croc/gator straps, I will tell them to PM you, Tourby.

  9. Probably not a combination many people would even like, but it'd probably go best with my friend's wardrobe :)

I'll put on that diver strap you got on the Fiddy for it (OEM Caoutchouc-style).

Otherwise, I can place the more usual 24mm one, which might show a lot of lugwire though. I'm not doing both even for you. Radiomirs are a PAIN to change straps.:p

@Followup: Try RWI's sales section. They have those rubber straps much more often than here...if you want a cheap one, Tony can get it for you, I'm sure! I got mine from TWP.

@#2: Gotcha. I'll try to shoot these in 2 hours, as I'm only just waking up. :p ...meanwhile, this shouldn't prevent any other member from providing a photo of said strap on the Radiomirs! Please. Help a brother out. ;)

  10. PRATU5a.jpg

    :yuk:

TeeJay, do you know I never even THOUGHT of putting my 210 on a rubber strap? And mind, the 210 looks best with black straps.

I'm a bit lazy today, but I promise to give you a rubber diver strap shot on my (only working) Radiomir later today!

@TeeJay below: The 45mm/47mm Radiomirs are said to look best with the 27/22mm straps, so slightly larger than the 26mm ones, but tapered down. HOWEVER, I have put on my Fiddy straps (26mm) on them, and they're fine. Heck, I even place the 24mm on them too...they expose too much of the lug wires, though. Not the way to go.

  11. In Canada we have the "liberal" Liberal Party, the "liberal" Conservative Party" and the "liberal" Liberal New Democratic Party on the national scene. All politicking in Canada at a national level is done in the middle with only rhetoric and posturing used differentiate the parties. Point in fact all governing parties on the national scene in Canada have governed in the middle for the past 30 years +/-. They is very little difference in how Liberals and Conservatives have governed. In Canada we the electorate don't so much Vote them is as we instead throw the bums out. "Red Tory" is a slogan used to describe the middle leaning Conservatives.

Without getting too sidetracked in a thread about fake eggs, I do however thank you for your informative reply, Raijor. :)

I'd just like to say that whilst I agree with you, from what I know of Canadian politics what you said is fairly true, I can surmise you live in Eastern Anglo-dominant Canada: you forgot the Bloc Qu

  13. I view everything as a 4D target ...X,Y,Z over Time

Just got back from my party. I drank a demi bottle of champagne, and I have to tell you, either it's the grapes or the time, but I actually understood this post, POTR.

Except I read 4D target, as WD-40 target. Bed calls I think. Hope you guys are safe and sound. :bye1:

    And it shows.

This watch looks impeccable against the houndstooth scarf. More shots like these?? Please M. Pix! :)

Can't wait for the next part!

@Pix: Thanks! It's my new wallpaper now, for the New Year. :)

@Pix Followup: NICE! 3 new wallpapers. I chose the yellowish one, which looks elegant and cheerful. What a beautiful watch...

  15. There really isn't much of a difference between libs and socialists these days. As for conservatism vs. facism, there is a world of difference. Most conservatives favor smaller government and individual rights. Facism, on the other hand, is authoritarianism combined with collectivism.

Come on, Chieftang! Let's party like it's 1989! Champagne's on me. :tu:

    freedomwallth2.jpg

...see you on this thread tomorrow. ;)

  16. Thanks for the all the replies to this last pictorial review of 2007.

Since the Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon rep is the only watch I have which changes YEAR, tonight I'll be keen to see if this works. Can a $108 change at the stroke of midnight to a whole new year?

Do you have a watch that turns calender year too? :p

(Just checked. No, it's the Vacheron Constantin Retrograding Calender. But the question still stands!)

  17. MONDAY

P4GTR is right. Go Big or Go Home!

I'm seeing in the New Year tonight with my gold Omega, a Cartier tennis bracelet, and to go with my all-white evening dress, a Fendi cocktail clutch. :tu:

    Hello 2008!!

The girl on Lincoln Road with the Bvlgari Diagono Sport Ladies watch, Narikaa's Mont Blanc fountain pen, and the Italian diary will be me. :good:

...be safe, RWG; Happy New Year's!

    @Coolfire: Happy birthday!

  18. You mean Socialist Alert, surely. ;)

The LAT are not Socialist, they're liberal in the American sense, Pugwash. But then you know that, right? ;)

Liberal in Europe = pro-free-market economy known loosely as "globalisation"

Liberal in North America = anything left of centre

Of course, there are the Canadian Red Tories. Not sure how that works out. :p

Or is anything not your flavour of fascism Conservatism called Liberalism now? :bangin:

I think your point would've been stronger without the accidentally-on-purpose-wink-wink-nudge-nudge strikeout.
