    What you really want, are a pair of EMU (brand) boots. Emily swears by them, and apparently, they're more popular in Australia than Uggs :o Also, they're made so the 'hard rubber' of the sole, rather than being totally flat, goes up at the back into the 'foam' later, so any unusual foot pressure won't wear into the foam so quickly :)

    Fear not, I have EMUs, too. There hasn't been a [censored]-over-[censored] trend set by the Olsen Twins that I haven't followed. Nice one, Vicky.

    BTW, the EMU v. UGG rivalry reminds me of the Husky v. Barbour jackets one. Well we know who won that one, don't we. :lol:

    I think the worst case scenario for her is that she was being genuine.

    You have to think of WHY she was being genuine, though, CT. Cynics like us would say she was upset because she feels 1600 slipping away. I give her the benefit of the doubt about feeling the emotion, but not as to the reasons. Others do, and I find that bewildering.

    Frankly, there are many reasons why she isn't doing well. For one, Americans are tired of Bushes and Clintons. Bush Clinton Clinton Bush Bush Clinton Clinton could be the potential future of America. What is this, a monarchy?

    I heard that last remark in the supermarket queue on Saturday.

    Because first of all, and obviously, America doesn't need an emotionally unstable president at this juncture - or at any juncture for that matter.

    And if the campaign trail is more than she can handle, then she certainly doesn't belong in the oval office.

    I couldn't agree more. I can't believe sweet, demure Condi Rice, who looks like a lady who wouldn't be capable of hurting a fly, has more balls than she does. She stared down many a personal attack in her trips abroad, with grace under pressure.

    Does that really look like a soft, weepy woman?

    Neither was this one.

    Like her, hate her, and there are many who will dance in the streets when she goes, but MY GOD THAT WAS A WOMAN. Moreover, that was a PRIME MINISTER.

    Look at those eyes, and tell me America doesn't deserve a leader of that calibre, not a fussbucket who cries every time she's attacked.

    P.S.: Diana Gould, who became something of a celebrity afterwards, gave as good as she got. Women are never scared of other women. At least, I'm not.

    I'm not a fan, but I was touched by what I took as a moment of truth.

    Can you imagine Margaret Thatcher or Golda Meir getting teary-eyed like that? Oh God.

    Lots of people think it was staged. Not I. I believe her advisors said, after she had a disastrous debate on Saturday (looking daggers at all the men, alternating with, "That hurts my feelings", yeesh), "try be more emotional, show your vulnerable side."

    So whilst I think the question was a plant, and that she had that advice in the back of her mind, I think she was being genuine.

    Well, as genuine as a phoney can be...

    Anyway, she's going to lose three in a row (Iowa, NH & South Carolina). Unlike Rudy, she never had a "it's all starts in Florida" strategy, and she's in serious difficulties financially: down to 25m. Oops.

    I like the 1960s style of this watch... if they took off the Panerai labeling they would probably sell many of these...

    But you kinda dance on my original question -- of how the rep watch scene is in Russia? If the motivation is there to own a rep, etc.

    Just who are you going to impress in Russia, with a Panerai, Lange, etc.? The people who are in the know, know your watch is fake. Worse, because money is so fresh and ABUNDANT in Moscow, amongst that set of people you will be outted immediately as a poseur.

    It's like wearing a rep PAM at a restaurant near the Beverly Hills Panerai boutique. Potential embarrassment factor = 100%.

    EDIT: I have a post on old Russian Imperial watches I was working on, before my Dell HD kicked the bucket. I'll have to re-download all my pics, and re-type everything, so it won't be as nice. Coming soon though. :)

    Interesting site.

    Some watches there I would be seriously interested in, too bad it isnt on the level.

    I had the same reaction. Some are godawful, but the variety of godawfulness is rather intriguing!

    Just to see what KINDS of A. Lange reps have technically been available, is a handy reference to have.

    Well, because they're reputable. :p

    Seriously, they know their clientele by now. The backstreet Guangzhou tschokes would raise some eyebrows here.

    It's like buying stereo equipment. Would you rather do so at an audio-only store, or take your chances with Best Buy, who sell anything from fridges to DVDs to popcorn makers?

    ( Please dont someone say that it isnt popular, Pams and similar do nothing for me )

    It's an interesting point, though. Even Jay doesn't offer these in his reapie-cheapie watchsilix.site.

    I am so sad that it's somehow too big for me, but am happy it found a new house where it will be taken care of...

    Don't you think it's a little "freaky" to see a watch you had, on another RWG'ers wrist? It's one of the best parts of this hobby.

    Oh, BTW, I didn't buy this watch for me. It is too big too. :)

    I am a true collector -- I just like owning a large variety watches.

    Queen Elisabeth II in Versailles... Sounds supernatural... :king:

    Don't kill me, Pix, but Versailles is a little overrated. *gg*

    - GHW Bush 41 wore Panerais before Clinton, but was a lifelong Patek man. Interestingly, for a man who loves watches, he wasn't featured here. :)

    ... and to show you how easy it is, here's one I made earlier using just Quicktime Pro, Adobe Photoshop

    Inspired by FxrAndy, I changed my avatar but though I tried to follow your instructions, couldn't get this to work.

    Found this animated .gif on a site. Tried to resize it (being 1.6MB) but when I saved in Paint or one of the Gif Resizer proggies I downloaded, it wouldn't continue the animation. Several of the online gif resizer sites wouldn't upload such a large file.

    So failing having Photoshop, are there any tips you can give me?

    (I finally just uploaded the url and it worked)

    Tourby, Mrandazzo said it right -- summer and Panerai go together like Monica Belluci and uh, just about anything in this world? :)

    Put away your PAMs for a month, even two. Store the straps well, so they won't mould over.

    And then you will see. By the time spring rolls around, you will fall in love again! Happened to me and Rolexes...

    I wanted to surprise M. Pix -- I received his MAGNIFICENT Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offsore, in Rose Gold, on Saturday. So I took out my old, yellowing photo album to honour his native country for this Wristcheck. :tu:

    Maybe they will correct the L SWISS MADE L on the next run of these watches? That would be excellent. Has anyone talked to Trusty, etc?

    I believe I mentioned it in passing. EDIT: Can't post what I did, since I went to double-check, and can't find the reference.
