  1. One picture has the cannon pinion looking good.

The second one. But as you say, the others look as if the cannon pin wasn't done at all. It could be a reflection though.

I was curious to see whether the lever sits in the middle of the crown guard.

What do you think of the width of the crown itself? Nice and fat, I think, but too much?

Kiki, overall and especially with your strap, it's beautiful!

  2. Gotta thank you for this Prince, last night I sat the pipsqueak down to part 1 of Bee movie, a movie she wanted to see but we couldn't get the free time before Christmas to take her.

The best thing is there is still 3 more parts to watch when she has free time. :sun:

Bee Movie is awesome, Ken. You chose well last night.

And I believe your nipper will adore "Enchanted". It upturns all the traditional soapy Disney fairytales on their head, and yet not. She'll love it, if you can find it. :)

(Oh, conscious that not all parents like films with violent scenes, FYI, this has a scary-ish last scene with a dragon, played appropriately by Susan Sarandon)

  3. Pan's Labyrinth is a amazing movie and the soundtrack is also very good..

Interesting. I'm not an aural person, but a visual one, so I don't usually notice soundtracks. :(

Vic have you seen the Aussie movie The proposition? That is also amazing movie a must see :)

Nice! Thank you so much. I haven't but my local rental shop carries it. Not much into Westerns, and I must've been one of the few people this year that thought the "3:10 to Yuma" remake was not worth the hype, so I gave The Prop a pass.

Having said that, TWP's original mention of "The Assassination of Jesse James..." was something I dearly wanted to see.

Don't miss "The Waitress" and "Lars and the Real Girl", Dani. :)

    P.S.: Can't believe the Times.

Amongst their 5-star rated films of 2007:

    Bobby

    Bridge to Terabithia

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus

    Oceans 13

    Sicko

    Miss Potter

In order, mediocre, depressing, boring, you've got to be kidding me, sickening, and syrupy. Yikes.

  4. V, you seriously have to stop showing pics of that strap. I don't know what you're trying to do, exactly, but it's starting to get a little distracting, and I think it's only fair that you should stop posting pics. Maybe you get a kick out of derailing threads, I'm not sure, but I feel that the mods are neglecting their duties here...

It's so beautiful, and my own Metta Catharina was so messed up, that I actually purchased another last night which V is aware of. All due to his photos, and the heads up of the ever generous K2222.

Vic, do you have a ceramic J12? I'm thinking of getting one for the girl, and I love the way that the polished ceramic looks on my HBB. I've shown her a pic of the black and the white Chanel, and she likes the black one.

    nicolechanelj12en0.jpg

As featured in one of the Wristchecks, we (mum and me share it) have the J12 Superleggera bought from a member here. This particular black ceramic J12 is very beefy. If you can, make sure she wears it beforehand. I think the white one will suit most ladies a little better.

The white one IS growing on us, though we always said never to the J12s because every woman I know, has one.

Classic for women does seem to be more restricted. The pams are a great option- they combine a lot of the modern and classic elements and I don't think they're gender-specific, really. If I were to see a girl out wearing a Pam, I would be intrigued- that is one circumstance under which I find disproportionately larger watches attractive.

    :tu:

Because Panerai lines are like a woman's lines. Shapely.

They are Sophia Loren's figure complimenting Marcello Mastroianni's machismo. :)

  5. Yup I was just reading about this fight in the paper, they say tickets were being scalped as high as $45k!!!!!!! Mayweather is a pompus ass and I hope this little brit can knock him off his stoop. Should be interesting to say the least!

No one in America likes this guy, so that's why w2w's post (not a bitter one by any means!) to our American cousins raised a smile.

Didn't watch it. Haven't opened the Sunday papers. Please tell me Ricky won...

UPDATE: Oh. :akuma: Well, at least people got their money's worth.

  6. I suggest you are referring to rotten tomatoes Victoria? If so, 96% is way to high for No Country for Old Men.

    Correct, my Prince.

    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/no_country_for_old_men/

One of the most unanimously highest-rated films I've seen there, ever. I think only "Pan's Labyrinth" (which I found exceptional) received more. PRE-POST EDIT: Nope. Same 96%.

Interestingly, the "Cream of the Crop" film reviewers -- the elite movie critics -- gave it 89% positive. That's more like it.

  7. I'm always going to have a spot for the moderns...but they're going to be balanced out by some classic pieces. After receiving my first modded MBK rollie, I'm convinced that the ability to create an accurate rep of the sport vintage Rolex divers is one of the cooler things available to us in this hobby-

Classic for a lady means traditionally Cartier and Rolex DJs. Modern these days means ceramic watches like the J12 (and Technomarines, of which there are scant few reps).

My tastes had a strange evolution. When young, classic. As I grow older, more avant garde. Just before finding reps, I had bought a Nixon watch monstrosity which looks like an aluminium fridge from planet Mongo.

    291009-5288.jpg

I still like modernist lines, but I'm back to the classics save for Panerai.

But then Panerai is a strange blend of the art deco and oversized modern. It's a marque whose time has come.

  8. I em whating for a quality realse of No country for old men, that movie will be awzomeeee

I saw it, expected much from it, since it's the Coen Bros obviously.

I won't say much about it, but let's just say that 96% on RT is much too much. Bardem turns in a curious performance. I was both amused at his Prince Valiant hair cutted bounty hunter with a gypsy streak, and repelled by it. It is a must-see film though, Dani. Enjoy it!

@TWP: Thanks! One thing is that certain films need the big screen (I think Dieselpower will interrupt at any second). No Country For Old Men really is one of those. As is the sugar plum modern fairytale, Enchanted. See it at the cineplex. ;)

  9. Not too shabby for a A Lange rep. Odd that there is that translation error same as on my VC Jubilee 1755. Oh well, works for this dumb American :yahoo: . Is it perfect? No. Is it a nice looking watch? Oh yes

Since that's what we can get, why not! :)

    Sun to Sat...LOL. Love it.

  10. Being US American based, I assume it would not, therefore, preclude the use of Cockney Rhyming Slang? - Opens up a whole new can of worms, me ole China !! :D

    Don't be such a James Blunt, Fireman_Fred!

(Oh, BTW, my cousins tell me the latest one is Uncle Fester for Child Molester. Sometimes I miss the UK. Then I remember the bloody weather)

  11. Well it's illegal in Italy because of all of the [censored] being [censored] about the [censored]. I goes back the [censored] era where such things were frowned upon such as [censored] and [censored].

That's because Winston Churchill WOULD keep referring to Il Duce as Il [censored].

  12. I'm SO glad "wanking" isn't censored -

    :tu:

I'm wondering if the censorship script is US-American based? Let's see. Bugger.

    (Yep. One more)

The Queen is a rat-faced old gargoyle and we need a bloody republic.

    (HMMM!)

    I love "wanking",

You're lucky you're Fireman_Fred and not Victoria, else that would've been .sigged immediately!

  13. thks for the replys guys, very helpfull, as allways...

Narikaa, those are some stunning reps!!!!! :)

And Narikaa is British, so no EU problems in shipping, Cleobis. :)

Well, for example, I don't trust the French post and Italian post at all, but between Portugal and the UK, it should be fine!

@Emmzy: I was going to link to Narikaa's forum with the prices.

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showforum=63

But since the other day when I bought the Tag Link, he's taken down almost all of his rep watch sales! Boo.

  14. Agreed. But all I am asking is that you consider posting the other content in a separate post? That way, members looking for your very informative non-wrist posts can still get their fix without having to filter out the extraneous stuff and members looking for wrist shots can do the same. That seems both reasonable & fair to me.

Thanks for the input, Freddy. But the Wristchecks are my special joy, and what keeps me going from week to week here. The enthusiasm will remain, along with the shots.

  15. Vic -- To be honest, due to the extended length & ratio of wrist-shot-to-non-wrist-shot content of most of your recent posts, I usually scroll (& scroll & scroll & scroll) past them (I really do enjoy your strap work, but not so much in a 'Wrist Check' where I expect to see mostly wrist (or, at least new watch) shots).

Freddy, as you know, I am very different kind of member than the usual here. I use my Wristchecks to impart a lot more than a simple show of watch on a wrist. I've mentioned these a couple of times.

    - To keep my promise to show my entire collection, with a new watch per post

    - To assuage my guilt at suddenly stopping the Great Panerai Strap Capers, and give you a mini-one each time with the straps

    - To target the needs of the three forums I am in, since they are often much more enthusiastic and complimentary than those here (that's only because they don't have the ratings system, to be fair to members here)

There are other reasons, but these are the major ones.

Oh, and I'm also unbelievably enthusiastic about this series. I love the Wristchecks; I put a lot of effort into each, and I think it shows.

Unfortunately, today, you included your extraordinary 'Nantucket' watch, which got lost within the scrolls. Now that is the kind of wrist shot (on a woman's wrist) that I never tire of seeing. More of those please.

Thank you so much. I won't cloud your lovely compliment with any thoughts about what ladies "should" wear according to your taste, because we've had this conversation before.

I am just very happy it pleased. :)

  16. RICHARDLANGE.JPG

I knew you'd come up with the goods, Narikaa.

I'll be buying one of these from you (prob. the white or black), in the coming week. Thanks for posting this!

Oh, how many do you have? If someone wants them, and you only have one, don't worry. Sell it.

  17. "For the gentleman hunter on the prowl"

WTF. Sounds like a Victorian pater familias looking for poonanny in the East End.

Wow - I think the folk at the J Peterman catalogue are getting worried....!

LOL! I was only just looking at their online site the other day. Check this out:
