  1. And who the hell has told you that?

It's that arrogant attitude that has caused most of the problems revolving around you to begin with...

YOU HAVE NOT BEEN EMPOWERED ON THIS FORUM [in any way shape or form]...

I am referring to another thread, one of many which targetted me today, Two-Tone. I think you know which one that is -- the one where out of the blue I was attacked by another member in what is a lingering matter which they cannot let go in their minds.

I find it bizarre that after all we've gone through in this past week, trying to put the festering remnants of that odious thread behind us, that this should happen now, Two-Tone.

In the morning, when I have come back, I hope to do so without these CONSTANT sniping posts about me, which obviously leave me fatigued and demoralised. But not vanquished. Should that sound arrogant, it's only because I'm in bunker mode after all the gratuitous shelling today.

Fortunately, 20 men out of 8000 members do not a hatred make. If anyone wants to shake my hand, peacefully, you'll find my hand the first to be outstretched.

If not, there's nothing I can do.

  2. go on ahead then... just sad to see so many people manipulated for selfish reasons......

These long, meandering, incoherent rambles of yours are absurd. God only knows what you hope to accomplish by this -- once again, I am not leaving, so your paragraphs full of ellipses are as naught.

I think men like to see fights. But I don't fight. I will not address one syllable of anything non-rep watch related you address to me, Lanikai.

Once again, please stop your obsessing over what I post, and add to the forum as best you can, if you truly wish it well. Good night.

  3. Bottom line if we loose members such as The Zigmeister.. what happens? .. do we become a gossip and fashion and survey forum?.. can anyone do reviews on movements .. i wonder if anyone is interested in those things anymore?... after all they're just about watches aren't they???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Members are already under warning far more senior than you are, Lanikai. Please understand I am not leaving so stop criping, stop obsessing, stop bullying. STOP IT. I beg of you.

If you have a problem, press Ignore. Life is uncommonly problem-free when you do.

Now, if you don't mind, this thread is a Guide "of sorts" to help people out. In the morning, I will be adding on to it.

  4. Hi dear all, I got a Mont Blanc pen from one of the dealers here. The ink ran out thus I went to get a genuine Mont Blanc rollerball ink refill but it could not be fitted into the pen. I'm like only able to screw it in 1/3 way and could not screw it in fully thus I can't use the pen now. May I know do you all faced such similar issues? And how do you all resolve it? Hope I need not throw away the pen... Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Gen Mont Blanc refills sometimes do not fit the rep pens.

I wrote this in my "Pen in Pics" review, when I first got Narikaa's MBs:

"For those interested, each of the rollerball pens in this review uses a Medium Mont Blanc 710 refill cartridge. Given the other members' complaints about refills not fitting rep pens, I'd use caution though. I believe a Uniball medium fit most of the rollerballs."

    Try that, Alant. Good luck!

  5. Agree with you on Blancpain. I've long lusted after a good BP rep. Dave Gates, who used to be a regular on this forum, had one but wouldn't sell it.

Yeah, he's not doing too well, I heard. I'm not shy, but something has prevented me from sending him a get well-PM. :(

Thanks for the semantic point deciphering. Good call. Smaller dial it is.

I have tonnes of relatives in the general area where Lange have their headquarters. Heard the 'museum' is phenomenal. A swing-by is in order. :)

  6. Victoria,

Thanks again. Do you know how to get in contact with Davidsen? I saw his feed back section, but no gallery section like several people have. I have read several good things about his 111H and his fast shipping and would love to get more info on his watches and pricing.

No dealer here isn't without his faults. Davidsen can be temperamental (he's an artist, as much as an engineer), and his QC has suffered of late, but he's working on that he said. We'll see. I may have two orders soon, with him, and then I can compare.

    PM him at Davidsenjpn. :)

PS what bands do you like/recommend for a PAM 111H?

    The million dollar question!

If you could, Mike, do a search string with "Great Panerai Strap Caper". Before I stopped, due to family issues, I had 5 installments of some good strap ideas.

The 111 is the most versatile of all the PAMs, save the 112 (my favourite). You can throw WHATEVER strap you buy, and it'll play.

  7. I'm not bragging here,

Of course not. You're sharing, dude. That's what makes this place great!

I am just ecstatic that a deep desire can finally be filled. Now, I'll read some more on RWG, get me some tools, and eventually get into some mods once I understand enough about what can be done and how to do it.

I couldn't be happier for you, if I had bought them myself. And I will, I will. :D

Please post wristchecks, of the ones you keep! :)

  8. Hi Victoria!

Wow! Beautiful watch, but excellent photography! Are you a pro? Nicely done!

    Thanks, HikeUSA! (Nice ID, BTW)

Nahhh. Unless by "pro" you mean...still nahhh. ;)

My Sony does all the work for me. I do regulate some of the settings, but it's 90% the Carl Zeiss lens at work. :)

  9. So maybe everyone is right!

It seems that some members cannot access the Wiki thread, according to a few posts mentioned to me today. Could it be it's only available to RWG Supporters, Cornerstone?

Because this is the purpose of this thread, to give newbies a quick guide on spotting tells in reps, in turn encouraging them perhaps to upgrade -- though its purpose is fast leaving it.

BTW, no handbags from me. Ironically, for the only voluble lady on the board.

  10. I'll decide when or when not to post, thanks. Although you might start a new thread about imposing your views on board etiquette on others.

That was a civil and sensible request. I think you'll find the next message won't be from me, but it'll say much the same thing. Thanks for understanding.

  11. Excellent photo review, Victoria. Superb photos.

    Thanks, Doug!

The only real flaw (other than the fact that the rep case is larger than that of the gen) is that the running seconds subdial (gen) is a 24-hour dial on the rep.

That seems to be the case. I've seen another version of the Zeitzone, without those blue mini-subdials near the bigger ones (I'm scared it might've been a really good rep though).

    Actually, here's a question.

If the Lange 1 has no proper "watch dial" in the traditional sense of going around the watch, is it still correct to speak of the main time-telling device as a subdial?

I have 2 of these watches, one gold, one stainless steel,

    Wow, lucky dog!

I daresay this thread will chivvy out, like it has you and Emmzy, all those Lange 1 owners.

but the moonphase version, that is identical to yours but with a moonphase arch at the top of the subdial which, like yours, is a 24-hour register.

I used to be very big on moonphases when I was a young girl, not too much now. Not too sure why that is, as it's a beautiful complication.

Also, neither of mine have the cities around the perimeter, are just the "standard" ALS Lange 1 Moonphase. Both are handsome watches, and the stainless version set off a near frenzy in one of the local mall jewelers when I wore it in there.

Well, jewellers and not AD. That's a good thing. ;)

No one noticed the absence of the running seconds, but all 3 all but drooled openly during their foot-and-a-half distance inspection. These are rare watches, and I'm surprised we don't see more of them.

These must be from a very early batch, when rep dealers were more diversified. It seems now they target marques, and simply don't have Nardin, Glassh

  12. "Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information"

Mike! I'm so sorry about that. Perhaps it's a section available only for RWG Supporters, of which you are not yet. So sorry about that -- it's been yonks since I've been a Member, that I forget what is available to whom.

I hope the other replies here have been more helpful to you, though. :)

  13. This makes my fantasy look rather pathetic.....but I like it, it's different alright.

    Lange.jpg

Wow! I kinda like it, Emmzy...probably because Langes are difficult to find, even in the real world. I have no reference for them, other than my grandpa's old watch (which I didn't care for, actually. What a fool).

    Thanks for the post-pic!

  14. WEDNESDAY

Huge change of plans for me in the Wristchecks. I had originally planned on two different watches, one of them the Lange1 which belongs to my father. Instead, that will be a separate post since a few members mentioned it today. I'm also saving a very special Rolex DD for this weekend. :)

So without further ado, my DSN FIDDY on a lovely Toscana Capretto Tan strap!

It's either very dark or very light, depending on your light source. Very versatile strap. :tu:

Oops, okay, next time I'll know to place from where this strap is, not just the make, since I received two PMs already:

    http://timeconnection.biz/Merchant2/mercha...Product_Count=3

It's at full price at the mo'.

    THURSDAY

Incredibly, ever since I restarted watching Top Gear, I've been wearing my Pumpkin Planet Ocean (from member Navigater), on the black diver strap he threw in for me. I prefer it on the orange strap, but this is a nice change of pace!

  15. Just my 2 cents... don't kill me over it.

Thanks for your input, eddhead. There are some as still unresolved issues at play in threads, but don't worry about that. What is important is to help out folks, as best as we're able to.

The motives aren't altruistic, merely practical. However, I personally also wish for newbies to have ever more reasons to upgrade to Supporter status. :)

Oh, BTW, there's no suggestion of having a truly all-encompassing thread. It would take years to map out, and a committee's worth of time. This is just putting out what knowledge we have, here and there. ;)

  16. A supposedly "one stop" thread is useless,

I'm sure you didn't mean to be unkind, or impolite, so let's not touch on this part.

Instead, let's say that there are some people here that as newbies would truly appreciate any quick tells, that don't take but a second to divulge from the more seasoned members. It gives them greater piece of mind, when buying reps, and wearing them. In time, they too will scope around the forum, and gain the knowledge others have with painstaking patience.

This forum is practical, above all else. This is a practical thread.

I'm going to be expanding it later on.

  17. WHat is the difference btwn the PAM 111H and the 111E?

No, the "E" means it's a sausage dial (hour markers on top of the dial), the older design, rather than the newer sandwich dial (cut out hour markers).

Here is SSSurfer's handy reference guide in .xls format to the models and the years (letters) they refer to. :)

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=32170

    There's also the "Risti" site:

hxxp://www.paneristi.com/reference/index.html (xx'ed because we don't want trackbacks to this site)

Is it a swiss ETA movement versus the asian movement?

No. The nomenclature is the gen one, not something used for the rep watch community expressly. ;)

Also, the Wiki at the top right does not have the movement info several people keep referring too. Any one know where it is? It would really help.

Hmm, not sure why it's not working for you. Let's try again:

This is the Wiki Guide in toto:

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?autocom=ibwiki

    This is the movements section:

    http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?autoco...md=cat&id=9

Third, I have been thinking of getting a particular 111H that is ready modded from TWP, any reason to go else where?

He may be swamped at the moment -- try emailing him. I would personally try Davidsen.

  18. So, my dream rep. (and the reason I started reading this forum) is a A. Lange & Sohne Lange I Moonphase.

Personally, I haven't dealt with townbags.

I know this is your dream watch. In fact, we have a similar one (dad does) which I was going to post in the Friday Wristcheck. ;)

But this site just doesn't look legit, as you mentioned about the vague descriptions. Tiny photos -- sometimes using gens! PRICEY rep prices. And just an overall feeling of being second-rate, and all over the place (rep handbags, etc.).

I looked at the one I have:

"Chopard Happy Sport - Landies Replica Watch"

Ay. Not the price, nor the watch, nor the spelling gives me any sense of credibility about them. Sorry Supermoves. :(

  19. Here's the Pugwash method for spotting a rep. It's pretty much foolproof.

    Know the watch.

That's it, I'm afraid. If you know what a genuine Sub looks like, you'll spot replicas. If you need a Word doc, you'll never be sure it's not out-of-date. If you're serious about rep-spotting, go to an AD and commit the tells to memory.

Sure, but newbies don't know the watch, until they know the hobby.

This guide truly isn't for the experts. It's for the experts or self-defined hobbyists to share with others less capable of themselves, at the quick and easy tells out there.

I'm sure you can add loads to it, as you surely have in individual threads.
