Ya the black goes well with a full sleeve tattoo. The white with a suit. LOL. Actually both are quite versatile. These are great watches.
Hey tx, how's the datewheel alignment in the gen dial's date window?
Well, except for a couple old school PAM reps which are merely modded and a couple gens, all my watches are frankens. Some now gone...
Here's one built as a present for my brother a couple years back when he completed his PhD. He still wears it daily. The recipe was Gen dial, case, bezel, crown, tube, bracelet, date wheel. Rep no-lume hands. Aftermarket crystal (I really liked the quality). ETA 2892A2 in a stilty movement holder.
Ya I had a nicely modded VCO quite some time back. I still like the watch a lot. I think I prefer the black dial, though mine was white. The problem with the rep back in the day was that the bracelet was a piece of [censored] and mine fell apart while I was driving down the highway at 75 MPH with my arm resting on the window sill with the window open. Hasta la vista baby.

Saw one of these at the mall on one of the Jewelers' billboards. Nice. I have to say I'm a fan.
So, of course, I gotta wonder which generic swiss movement will work in these and when Ofrei will be selling dials.
Yea you're going to hit 3k and beyond. The 6265, 6263 with v72 are good choices and have plexiglas crystals. Here is mine:

Which Daytona? I broke the $3k mark for both my 16520 and 6265 Frankens. It's just a question of how far you go. Mine are all gen but the mid cases. And the movements are the non-Rolex branded versions of the same movements Rolex used.

It does look good. The crystal just doesn't look fully seated to me. But I'm sure to the naked eye a complete non-issue.
