As good as the WM9/TC/Whatever 16610 subs have become, it's amazing how quick and immediate you can still spot a gen in the pics. I like the exhibition case back also. Hows the glide lock? I hear it's a huge improvement.
I'm starting to like the new ceramic subs a bit. I don't feel right about admitting it though....
You never know what's happening in people's lives at any particular point in time. All you know for sure is how they've treated customers in the past. And in KB's case, based on that history, he deserves more patience and trust that you're giving at this time in my opinion.
Whoa, now that's some migration! Pretty interesting. I would like to know why some T dials from the same era don't exhibit this and others do. Moisture?
Smearing might not be the best word. How about "degrading"? Actually that looks like the same effect. You can see the white lume "pads" coming through on both watches. Were you the original owner of that 60s Speedy?
What do ye vintage enthusiasts think of the tritium on the stick markers here: normal or a bad relume?
I've been eyeballing older Speedies, and am interested in this one. But if it's a relume, I'll definitely pass. Rolex tritium does not seem to smear like this, so I'm a bit skeptical.
Looks great!
Here's the entire recipe for mine: Phong case, gen bezel, gen dial and hands, V72 serviced by the Zig, gen crown/tube, gen crystal, Cousins pushers (gen waiting to be installed) and gen 78350 w/ 557 ends.
Just received the finishing touch for this piece today: A pair of NOS gen pushers. The search for a pair priced sensibly lasted almost 1 year. Patience is indeed a virtue.
Can't wait to get this things installed. The Ofrei/Cousins pushers really are junk.
Lookin very good. I don't think the gen bracelet is going to offer enough bang for the buck as you'd probably need to double the price of the project to acquire one. But you will notice the thinness of the rep next to the gen bracelet.
Anyhow, enjoy!

Ya you guys are right. I actually thought about the Fifty Fathoms after the post too. Especially if they did an exclusive limited rerelease.

You'd have to price at or modestly above today's Daytonas and well under the cost of a vintage to make any sense I would think. Anyhow I think it's a damn good idea if I do say so myself.
