  1. My understanding was that the lack of crispness on the Watchmeister numbers was intentional to match the printing back in the day... Because, as you can see, the numbers on the gen are also somewhat blurry and this is well replicated by their overlay. My 1680 with gen tropic crystal looks very close to the gen through the date mag. Gen 1680:
  2. The ETA based SFSOs already have a reasonably good AR coating. I think both the Navi and the UPO will have a very poor AR coating that you'll need to remove first. And on the EVO, I am not sure. Anyhow, let us know soon. We're about to get started. Anyone else, too.
  3. OK, didn't know about the individual numbering... But yea, I have a first run original 063 as well. Anyhow, 2 years is well worth the wait for these beauties... Let's see if we can't pull off a PVD run in slightly less time, now.
  4. If that 005 is a rep, where do I get one?
  5. Thanks for sharing. Excellent post. Now, no offense to the owner nor to the others who have opined, but if I am being honest, then I have to say I can't get too excited about this watch vs. an MBW or even a DRM Mariner... Rehaut still a bit too shallow (albeit not by much - compare below). Bad dial. Bad bezel. Bad bezel insert. CG shape is a little weird - tips too pointy. On the positive side, I think these are the best end links I've seen on a rep bracelet yet. I'm going to have to try tracking down one of these bracelets! Also, while the rehaut is a tad shallow, it isn't blow horn conical like some... This is good. The crystal reveal looks good also. And the acceptance of gen parts is of course a huge plus - if in fact true... But once you get into gen bezels with inserts, your total cost will be well into the $1200 range. Gen sub rehaut: WM9 sub rehaut:
  6. K - Is the case back on the 063 the original that came with the watch? 016/500 is different than mine...
  7. Bertie I have a vintage overlay produced by Ubi, archibald, kruzer00 that I can spare. PM me if interested.
  8. The famed TW Best went out of production years ago. Whatever it is that people now refer to as TW Best doesn't measure up. The watch in your pic looks nothing like the true, original TW Best of yor.
  9. Interesting strap. Is it from SC? Tubes are preferable, but you can get by without them.
  10. This strap, while not my style personally, is really a work of art. Very impressive. I can't wait for my "boring" tumbled black tootall strap to arrive!
  11. Someone PM me when there are 25 firm commitments. Thanks!
  12. I prolly have a spare Noob overlay somewhere. PM me a reminder to look for it.
  13. If you can produce aspheric lenses to gen spec, then please let us know. Otherwise, I think you'll be reinventing the wheel at this point...
  14. We need 20 to do the run.... And people ALWAYS drop out, so more than 20 is best.
  15. Well I don't know what a 'tromp l'oeil' is, or even what language that is for that matter, but I do know that the rings have survived the AR coating process every single [censored] time. Pardon my French.
  16. I think we need to add a "Gay" icon above the "QUOTE" and "REPLY" buttons. Maybe the lightening bolt "Zing" icon could be replaced. Then threads such as this might be rendered wholly unnecessary. Admin? If not, could I at least get a light bulb from someone for the idea?
  17. Here on the left coast, I believe the consensus is that watches to do not become gay, but rather that they are born gay. This is strongly supported by the fact that white ceramic watches have, from their conception, always preferred to be worn in the company of dresses and purses and other miscellaneous feminine fashion accessories...
  18. So the point of this post is to allow people to decide for themselves if they want to send their watches to Joe... I see. Here's a question: why? Why do we need another data point? But now that we have one... same shoddy lume work, same lack of genuine parts, same ungodly turnaround time, same outlandish pricing, and same apathy from watch owner who doesn't know better that we've been accustomed to seeing from watch work courtesy of Joe. Thanks.
  19. I've done double AR on many 187s now, and the results are fantastic even though the gen is reportedly only a single sided coating. I guess it never hurts to have a rep that looks better than the gen!
  20. Great project.... I can't believe I hadn't seen the progress earlier. I just saw Bas Rutten wearing a Santos on TV today and was thinking that I should get one.... So I'm in for one. Any chance you'll produce the silvery version of the as pictured above? Or just the white? Thanks!
  21. You're in, Mr. Padget. Previous customers are always welcome. The last run was overwhelming in size and I apologize if you were overlooked, especially given that some members (shamelessly) dropped out.
  22. I held one in my hand the other day at Palo Alto Micro. Don't know what he wants for it, but you could call David.
  23. New AR sign ups coming soon.
  24. I've got a gen insert on my sub, but would say yours is probably the nicest non-gen sub insert I've seen yet. The printing is good, the pearl is good. But the large stick markers are probably a bit on the thin side... not that anyone would ever notice.
  25. It seems like pics of the ball bearing based CG surfaced 6-9 months ago. Interesting design for sure. But rep proof? Hardly. Then again, CGs aren't exactly the rep mfg's forte, now are they... On to the watchs.... The PAM 193, if well done, could be my first 47mm rep... And that 292 could very well be my first ever Radiomir. Sweet!!
