  1. Broke down and bought this a couple months ago. Liquid caramel that lingers on the palate for days, and worth every cent:
  2. Great strap choice for the Safari there. Really looks sharp. Enjoy!
  3. I have to agree with the others. That case is the problem, not the movement. Hope you didn't get scammed on the case.
  4. Here are a few to see, by the same writer/director team: 1. "The Red Shoes" 2. "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp" 3. "I Know Where I'm Going"
  5. Hmmm the 3019 should fit. Ubi has a gen case with the Ebel version, which I also have in my phong case. And as memory serves, el primero 400 = 3019.
  6. Prices have changed since the OP made this post. The cost of the franken build has gone up as has the pricing of the used gen. $5k is on the very, very high end, still. But absolute dollar amount of franken vs gen is still the way to look at it. The gen is going to be $9k to $10k depending on year, seller, condition, etc. So you're still going to be looking at a $5k to almost $6k savings by going the franken route. On cases, J&W used to have a phenomenal case. I'm not sure he still has it. The last couple examples I've seen were a different model. The NDT case is not worth considering. The best bet right now is try to to push Phong to see if he still has the good case, and cross your fingers that he does. But I think he has started hand modding some of his cases to make them look more like the older one. Probably not want you want to pay the Phong price for...
  7. In a normal browser the video is only in the small chat window at the top. Apparently the iPad isn't displaying the forum correctly.
  8. The newer service replacement pushers definitely have the prominent groove just like the Cousins pushers. As far as I can tell, they're one in the same. Gens pushers:
  9. Ordered from them one time. Shortly after my credit card company notified me of suspicious transactions. Three charges for $1500ish with shipping addresses out of the country. Got the charges backed out by Visa. Now I don't know for sure that Gilt had anything to do with it. But the timing sure seemed odd.
  10. This should give you an idea: Look at the pic of the Omega under the lamp vs the 3717 under the same lamp.
  11. The gen has the chrono seconds at 12. The base 7750 used in the reps put it at 9, but then they added some transfer gears to move it to 12:00 per the gen. This, of course, can call reliability in to question.
  12. It's either when you soften the edges to simulate wear, or when you soak the bracelet in stool softener dissolved in solution.
  13. OK thanks for the feedback. Might as well get the rubber deployant from josh for 98, which comes with end links and a clasp that could be reused on the AP Bands straps, eh?
  14. Does anyone know (for sure, first hand) that the conversion links from AP Bands will fit on the APROO sec@12 rep case and give a good fit for their straps? Thanks in advance. Chief
  15. Big time! Dom, our tastes are impeccable.
  16. What's a lumograph?
  17. Yes, I know. But try spotting that on a moving wrist from 10' without attracting attention.
  18. On the wrist?
  19. So I was looking at the SGS II side by side with the new HTC Amaze in the TMo shop this morning. I had both phones on the 4G network streaming ESPN live. For some reason, and I'm not sure why, the SGS II video looked really pixelated while the HTC video looked nice and smooth. Hmmm.
  20. Love it!! I've done some turning of wood spindles on big wood lathes. Can't even thinking about dealing with miniscule watch parts on a lathe though!
  21. Fantastic work. I wouldn't have thought you were starting with bar stock!
  22. Dial depth. Noticeably shallower with the gen. Could see it was too deep from a fair distance. The owner confirmed when we got to talking after I gave him a "nice watch!"
  23. Spotted a rep APROO on the wrist from approx 15 to 20' in the airport today. Impressed?
