Thanks to reply. It's reassuring knowing somebody else in the same situation... I think I just need to calm down a little bit It's my first purshase with Angus (in the pass I was with Andrew, Josh, etc. now I decide to switch for personal reasons) so I don't know how he drive his business.
-
I bought for more than $500usd monday, I received an automatic response status yesterday with the mention of "payment problems" without any more details, I try to contact angus, no answer. I called my credit card company, the payment passed correctly... I understand that if the total of a trx is more than $500, we need to go through other type of payment than credit card (PP, Western Union, etc...)that I didn't do...anyway, I still no answer from him since I bought monday...and I don't know where he is... but my payment passed on my credit card andI'll be bill at the end of the month...

Am I the only one here who do that... re-rent movie at a movie store, just because in this movie you can see a IWC slevin (in of course Lucky Number Slevin), or, Bourne Ultimatum to see the IWC aquatimer titanium wore by an agent, or in "The Deep", just to see how the SeaDweller wore by Nick Nolt fit in that time (1977) or on Sharon Stone in "the Sphere". Gosh...am I nuts or what? 8P

Yup! +1 here. I'm pretty ready to pull the trigger on the SSD... and at the same time, I will go with the new GMT II 50th anniv...but I still hesitate... I'm afraid about the GMT mvt, time bomb mvt

I found something to answer the Q1 "Asian movements ...Most need nothing, and overall are new and clean and well oiled." -
Asian 2824-2/2836 vs Swiss version, need a maximum of input.

Bump ! Nobody know the answer of one of these question? -
Maybe I should post in Movement Q&A , but I wanted the most attention as possible, and income. Can be move after (discretion of the Admin). With all the controversy about dealer who give you the Asian 2824-2 clone instead of the Swiss ETA 2824-2 when we purshase a Swiss model, I'm looking for a review of the reliability of the Asian 2824-2 or the Asian 2836 to make a good future choice for my next rep. I looked in the "Movement reviews" section, but no article or review about the Asian 2824-2 or the Asian 2836 (but we can found stuff on the Asian 7750, made by The Zigmeister)...maybe I didn't look at the right place. Well, somebody can just help us by answering these major concern: Q1: Asian 2824-2/2836, come dry or oiled? (We all know the Asian 7750 come dry, but is it the same case about the Asian 2824-2/2836) Q2: Do it need an initial full services like the Asian 7750 to prevent problem? or it is less prone to fail due to the less complexity if we compare it to the Chrono Asian 7750? Q3: Asian 2824-2/2836, has more jerky sec hand than a Swiss one? Q4: Asian 2836, the MOD version GMT already had bad reputation, but is it the case for a non MOD Asian 2836 mvt? like the one in a Seadweller for exemple? Thank you for your cooperation.

The purchase of things begin to be a problem when you are never happy with what you have but more with what you want. -
+1 Sacrilege for THE moon watch This model was waited for a long long time from moon watch enthusiasm due to the fact that the original moon watch don't has a date fonctionality and for some it was a pre-require for a watch. I own the see through case back double sapphire edition, and I can tell you this, if you are a PURIST, you will NOT be happy with this one, even if a date fonctionality is a must for you. Still away from the original moon watch...there's one and only one moon watch, the acrylic glass, solid case back, without date. Sometime, I think I made a mistake when I bought mine ... I don't regret it, but I know that mine is a "fantasy" model that come from the real one...very nice, but, still, not the original one.

Here's a little review of the GEN one and how to adjust hands... after chief AR, a crystal without AR is very painful to look at it.
-
A Clone 2824 come oiled or not?
-
What can be new in this one to come? Is it greenish dial color?
-
Well well well..that's interesting!!!
-
I ask him a question saturday and still no answer. I think he's away from his PC/communication... don't worry...
-
With AR coating, this little pilot will be awsome... I like the subdial contrast.
-
Already discussion about it here... there's a loooooot of bad comment on it.
-
UB7, where did you get this new roman version ?
-
One of my new one that I received from The Zigmeister this week, a true classic. 1- Chief AR coating 2- Full service on Asian mvt 3- relume Look the offwhite sub-dial/bezel vs my true white shirt, that give a really good idea for some who want to purshase one too.

I back 100% your suggestion. All dealers should take them for exemple... specify Asian clone 2824 vs. Swiss ETA 2824-2 that is NOS vs. Asian 21j automatics. This business need more discipline gentleman
-
All this begin to sound like a rebeliion This business need to receive some discipline, and that will start with customer, by his experience of loosing his money (fooled) or his time consuming by sending back the watch, wait, etc. time is money, everybody know that in business. If the problem come from factory, and the dealers are fooled, it's the dealer responsability to fix his problem with them and to respect the contract between them it's not our business, and I don't want to know, we have enough problem on our side, just with customs, and paying an astronomic shipping fee, so no justification will be accepted. Imagine if you bought a GEN watch, and you receive an NOS in it, and the dealer say to you "ho! this is out of my control, etc." trust me, you will NEVER buy from them again, from this brand and from this dealer. So it's the same with rep business. $300USD is NOT cheap for a lot of us here. Some work HARD to accumulate this kind of amount.
-
For everybody, what is a"normal" price is not very explicit/informative. Do you think (for member/supporter) that it can be a good idea to elaborate a price range for an exemple a PO or a UPO with Swiss ETA 2824-2, with a Asian clone 2824, and with a Asia 21J Automatic mvt (japenese version) sometime called "lite" version, and put these info in sticky area of this forum?

Ordering a 4th gen PO 42mm, asian vs "swiss"
magagne replied to radiohead101's topic in The Omega Area
Depend with wich dealer you deal with. Andreww, I think, and you can correct me, but you do reference to the "lite" version, that cost ~$120USD with a Asian 21j mvt vs Swiss 2824 version, $278USD that some dealer offer, and YES the case/crystal are NOT the same in both. But PT, for exemple, offer the UPO (45mm) in two different configuration, the case&crystal are the same but you need to specify and choose between two mvt when you order; Asian clone 2824 or the Swiss 2824 with a drop down list box, and you need to choose between the bracelet or the rubber configuration with a drop down list box too. So you can go with a new Asian 2824 clone or with a Swiss one, but keep in mind that if ytou go with a ETA Swiss model, you will probably have a NOS swiss 2824 mvt (new old stock), and it can be rust, or it can have oil in escapment, etc. really, it's rolling the dice in rep world. You never know what you will get Good luck. -
Of course he will doing things right... and he will give one million jutification reasons, like all others do, and happen to me too... they just want to keep there business alive
-
I don't trust dealer anymore, even them with good reputation... they commit to much error...specially drop shipper. All of you who never open your watch, you can be victim of scaming, from the factory and/or dealer. For me, it's the same, cuz the dealer need to do his homework and need to be sure of what he sell, and I'll blame the dealer for these kind of error, always. So dealer, don't try to drop the fault on factory. Sorry I needed to vent ... this kind of error happen too much.

I can't agree more than what you say here... I come from TZ (and still go there sometime) but I was caught by the spirit of help/hint and trick here...it's like a little family... I like this hobby
