I owned the black one for a time and I hate myself for trading it... double Jakub AR, regulated, ETA day-date wheels and no black paint on the back. It was basically perfect as compared to the gen...
I've got one of the first Girard-Perregaux 36,000 VPH vintages and the sweep is mesmerizing... my gen R's and O's look choppy after I've worn the GP for a while and my Eberhard (21,600 handwound) looks so slow! Interestingly enough I ordered it with the "Japanese" movement and instead of coming with a (lower grade) 21J DG/ no name movement, it had a 282x clone movement...and that was a few years back! Makes you wonder how many "Swiss" movements we've had pushed on us with dealers laughing all the way to the bank.
If the watch speaks to you and you really love it- that's all that matters. The fact that you're able to save 12K in cash at 23 years old is pretty impressive in and of itself...best of luck and can't wait to see the photos!!
