  1. looks good from here, but I'm still not in the market for one. omega PO 42.5mm or no omega for me the watchmaker should try to sort out what watches people are willing to buy, especially after the crystal and happy feet blunders on this watch. hopefully if they wise up and build that 42, they'll do a bit better with it from the get go
  2. heh when do you figure it might come out by, some time in the middle to late 2011? I am happy with my 4th gen it still looks brand new. And yeah guys apparantly they are notorious for some issue with the clasp. So since my tool stripped I have to helicoil it and then once that is done I can push all the pins out of the new clasp and repair the new clasp lol. I am sure it will work out fine but I just gotta get to that project. right now the watch is sitting on clean bubble wrap without not even a hair line mark on the entire watch. it is a very pretty thing. when the clasp starts popping open on me before I get out the door, I take it off and put it away so it doesn't fall off my hand outside and get damaged. off subject, but right now I'm considering an asian ETA rollie because I forgot these new 21j watches are difficult to set. I mean I try to find the date setting and it still sets the time. my older 21j watches don't do that.. ugh.. to find the 'perfect rep' takes time and extra money if you don't get it the first time. as far as modding the 4th generation watch goes, I don't think I really need to any more. some people who have modded theirs moved on to gen which is interesting. I like what I have got. if they come out with a new version of this same watch, I will still buy it.
  3. I think silix had a rep of this on sale a while back but afaik there's no such thing as a 42mm being produced right now with the correct style of bezel with the coin edge. could be wrong though since sometimes silix sends out a watch that is somewhat like that, just the teeth are uneven on those. would be interesting to search through the entire watchmarket building in GZ to see if one could find anything good lol. And ya i mean the upper floors as well
  4. Man this still hasn't got an update. Well at least I still have the 4th gen. I still need to fix the clasp though it flops open so I don't wear it. Love the watch though.
  5. cool mod but aren't the feet thicker on the flat foot one than on the rep one? I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot since you made it flat anyway. I was thinking one could maybe bum a dial off a trusted dealer for one of those fugly new omega ploprofs and swap the flat feet from it. kinda stupid that they came out with that watch instead of working on what everyone wants to buy. luckily i have a spare dial as well maybe i can rob its logo and try it out and see how that goes. I just looked at the dials and it kinda slants and has that happy feet. oh well it doesn't bother me any more at all. I held a 45mm gen the other day and could barely notice the flat feet. all I need is a bezel and I am set. bezel pearl is not bothering me much any more as well so... i dunno I bet if I wanted to sell the bezel on the rep I wouldn't get much back for it.
  6. I was ready to buy one. a guy who was selling one was giving me a run around. and then i found out that all the body work i want done on my car costs as much as a PO rather than costing over $5k so I think I know what I am doing with my money now. A watch is not worth $1700+.
  7. cartel pricing. these were $230 at almost every dealer when they were still in production.
  8. They used to show up from time to time in member sales. Wouldn't hurt to check around. I forgot what the last dealers were that were selling them were called now though. I'm sure someone here knows. I actually purchased the very last one the watchmaker created but it had the wrong dial. The one I still own is correct though from a different dealer.
  9. 4th generation PO is great and hopefully this one will be released. I'd buy another. Remembering holding the gen at the AD and unwrapping the 4th generation just days ago.. feels about the same. It is a very nice watch.
  10. Well they do sell more rollies than other reps so it may be easier for them to lower the price on those. and they probably feel that we are a niche market that will spend more on niche watch brands. however with how the world economy is crumbling and people are buying less reps over all, they should keep the prices lower imho. I buy less watches due to having to save money. I definitely would not ever buy a watch that costs over $300 that is just ludicrous. Unless maybe it is a gen. I keep getting emails from trusted dealers about new additions that are like $350 and other nonsense. I just ignore those emails. When I started in this hobby, Silix had good prices and King's prices were alright. But then every trusted dealer raised prices and I started getting less interested in buying watches.
  11. It looks best on black rubber, imho. Not mesh, not bright orange fluorescent rubber. Also someone stating you need a loupe to see the happy feet? What? I can see it on all of my watches from 3' away. The casual observer won't notice it.
  12. I considered this but came to the conclusion that I doubt it. The main reason is that the Chinese do not make money off of the original company. Plus a lot of Swiss manufacturers charge the consumer a lot more money than it costs to manufacture the watch. There's even more reason to compete with the gen. Look at the price difference between a preowned rollie and a brand new one and you'll see what I mean. Often times it can cost half as much money to buy a preowned. The flaws I believe are there because they used their own tooling to manufacture these and did not get it exact. And on the other hand, why do we keep having happy feet? Completely baffles me but in the 42mm PO thread, a guy showed that there were Omega reps made in the past with flat feet. Come to seeing how close you can match a rep to a gen, take a Breitling SOSF for example. It is nearly spot on. The flaws are very minor in this watch. Plus there's various rollies with very minute flaws such as the Explorer I and Datejust II. Well this is just the first version of the ploprof. Who knows if they will make any changes or not. I remember when I used to follow the 42mm PO and got so interested in it that by the time I bought it, they quit making them. They continually updated the watch and the dealers told me that the watchmaker got bored with it. If it had continued, they were listening to us apparantly through the dealers..and we would have had the flat feet fixed next I believe as well as possibly a better pearl at the very least. I still need to size that watch..
  13. wheaton26, that one looks really good and the font looks decent as well. I'm not sure if the date window is suppose to be framed on the 45mm or not though. It is on the 42mm. silix claims to sell a better 42mm PO than the 4th generation right now too. nobody has become a guinea pig yet though.
  14. lanikai, any word on this lately? after the Ploprof I kinda wonder how this one is going to turn out. Seems like it'll still have happy feet but I'm guessing a couple other things will be fixed though. Probably 1:1 with laser engraved caseback logos and correct crown and slightly recessed pearl this time. Possibly even correct font and definitely correct date window. These are all just my guesses. If they sort out that happy feet issue, that'd save people more than a couple hundred bucks on a mod right there and would make it pretty worthwhile. Also why didn't anyone ever talk about the Planet Ocean on the caseback of the 4th generation? On the gen, it isn't laser engraved. Actually nothing on the gen is as far as I recall. Seems like to address that issue, one would have to buy the entire case off Ofrei to get the caseback. The 4th generation easily costs ~ a grand to fully mod.
  15. Gen caseback too right? If they got these things right on the rep, nobody would even need to buy a gen.... I wouldn't call out either of these two watches.
  16. I would assume it'd be easier to make the logo without happy feet. But has an Omega rep ever been made without happy feet? All of mine have happy feet, even the original 007 SMP 300M which doesn't have a separate logo from the dial. It is painted on lol. With flat feet on the 42mm PO, I'd go on it. Without flat feet, debatable... Proplof? I don't know wasn't planning on purchasing it anyway but it would have been interesting to see the factories switching gears after all these many years of happy feet. Which I believe happy feet was the old fashioned original Omega logo and for some reason the factories keep shoveling them at us although it is no longer used, sans their web site. Anywho... hoping for that 42mm PO next soon. It was said that it will come out in June. Hopefully that is within the next couple of weeks I've held onto my money this long and I can hold onto it a bit longer especially if most of the flaws are fixed. I am totally guessing that the caseback this time will have the globe logo. It was amazing to see that on the Proplof rep! But not trying to hijack the thread, back on topic with the Proplof.
  17. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. It looks great to me and nice lume. I might consider it rather than the 42mm depending on how that 42mm comes out.
  18. Looks like this link got pulled or something. From the looks of the proplof, I doubt we'll be seeing flat feet on the new 42mm. I wonder what they possibly could have changed then. Maybe the pearl and crown and that's it, who knows. I should ask Silix. Looks like we're going to have to franken these still.
  19. Looks nicer than I even expected on this watch. price isn't too bad. But what's with the happy feet? Why can't they make a new rep with flat feet lol.
  20. Didn't Ruby or someone (from the cartel lol) say that this watch got pushed back to May or June and that it also pushed the 42mm PO back to the end of June some time?
  21. Heh they practically look identical to me. Nobody would know the difference. He didn't mention anything about the globe being missing from the caseback either. He is blind.
  22. Does "tool" describe the person or the watch? I'm kidding! It is an interesting piece, much different than the other omegas. I'd still have to veer toward a PAM though since I don't own one yet. They seem pretty now after seeing this watch.
  23. Of course I'm not saying that it will be 180 but I'm saying that if it was, I'd be on top of it like an ant on a sugar cube. However regardless if I feel the price is fair I've already planned to buy it when it comes out. Just a matter of time and to see what it goes for. Oh and if I said fat wrists earlier I meant thick wrists... I would somewhat guess that a 42mm watch would look fine on thick wrists but I dunno.
  24. sold for 425 british sterling? Isn't that like $637.50? sheesh and it is easy to tell it is a fake.. incorrect He location as well as not smooth obtuse lugs and no serial number plus no globe in the caseback. It's probably about 60 bucks on any trusted member site.
  25. Rolex bead blasts part of the clasp in some of their watches. It looks realy fancy when they do that too. I held a gen new model airking like that. beautiful watch.
