Is there a Portuguese Chrono with ETA on the market & if so ....
hooky replied to kgbAgent's topic in The IWC Area
you want reliability? --> remove the 5 extra gears between the 9 and 6 and freeze the seconds hands. you want fully functional? try a complete service or the graphite treatment. Do a search for more info. Otherwise, better stay away from this model, it is a ticking time bomb... -
PAM 253 versions? Are there multiple current versions?
hooky replied to b_hack's topic in The Panerai Area
Hi, Nice watch, nice choice. but beware that it is no longer available with sapphire crystal. only mineral with no AR. Plaifender pointed out that the 3 o'clock subdial is off and a big tell. Also that the watch does not have AR coating is a BIG TELL. The original has. Also having no superlume is also a big tell. I let mine being superlumed by the master The Zigmeister. And AR-ed by Jakub, K2222. But most important with this watch is the risk of crystal explosion. Do a search on this forum, you will find it. It happened TWICE already with this watch. So instead of getting another seconds hand, I would rather spend the money on a new case + glass which should cost less than 50usd. Yes that's what i wrote... 50usd or less. And if you are already looking at bigger or smaller numbers on the dial, believe me the biggest tell on these watches is first missing AR and missing SUPER LUME. By the way, the chrono Daylight versions have real sapphire and do not tend to break. (...). There are better PAMs out there, like the new improved pam252 for instance. Good luck. -
Condensation in watch after "passed" pressure test?
hooky replied to jleef's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Humid in the watch can also be in the UK/EU right now. Specially if someone is doing the laundry in the home, making the home a lot more humid and moist with the heating on. I had this humidity problem before with my watch smith. He had a very practical solution for it. He unscrew the case back, but the watch with the crystal down on a piece of soft cloth and put that for a short term on a warm lamp/light. He specifically warned not to keep it to long there, because otherwise the different oils which are in the watch might leak out of its place when the watch become too hot. after warming directly put the case back back on it. Cheers, J. -
OKAY, altough i got my watch back already, but still he has a saffire crystal of mine, I'm willing to pay 20usd for the P.I. WHO'S NEXT? cheers, J.

Maybe an idea which is impossible, but i'll ask it anyway. (I already got my watch back from J btw) Is it possible for the admin to PM those members who have registered on an IP address from Poland, to PM/ask those members if one of them is willing to ask around in Warsaw? just an idea....

True, at first did not see it, but the cannon pinion on the 036 at Josh' is way off...! You could also ask Josh/other dealer what the price will be with (asian or swiss, but asian is also good) swan neck and sapphire. Warning, whenever you go modding, watch your wallet: My 177H is now near perfect. But the total cost -also including a strap from Greg Stevens (google)- has just exceeded the 1000usd. Cheers!

If you would consider doing mods in the future, you might want to consider the version either 036 or 177 with swan neck movement, like the genuine. mods on these models could be: cannon pin fix, Ti crown, flattening the pin of the crown guard, relume. (cannon pin, ti crown, relume, good movement i have done by vaclume aka vaccum for my 177H) By the way the blue-ish tint of the AR on the mineral version was way too blue when i got mine from Andrew/Trusty. I bought a single sapphire from him and when i got the chance I had it AR coated by Jakub. IMO the plain sapphire looks better than the blueish mineral. this blue stuff made the dial a lot less visible. only after i got the sapphire installed i started to notice details which i hadn't seen before... But a first good start will be a good leather strap. the rep strap screams 'fake'. according to the specs on Josh' site, for the price I would choose 036. Why? No recessed cannon pin problem & sapphire & AR coat & swan neck. And you'd better verify if you really will be getting the Ti buckle. Cuz last time I checked it wasn't supply able by my dealer... good luck!

The crystal is not completely round? --> Have you considered a waterproofing test? Could be a potential problem with moist? Good luck, nice project!

Hi, if i were you I would go to a local watch smith first. maybe it is a very small problem, like a loose screw in the movement. The screws that hold the movement in place in the case sometimes get loose. If nothing is found by a watch smith, then you can still decide to send it back to China.... Just and idea.

Hey my friend, I have a PAM177. Also that one was very loud. WAS> Until i got it serviced completely. after that no more loudness. And another one which i bought for someone else... also loud just out of the box. Servicing is the best. And this movement is very cheap to service. less than

Great looking watch, nice work. I have a fully modified PAM177H, still need to do the crown lever pin and then it's also perfect. You said 'correct brown color strap'. Ok, nice that the color is right, but what about the 'correct right quality leather'? These kind of rep straps imo scream that they are fake. And a lot of people can spot from this strap that it is a replica... The buckle is also great. Where did you get such one? ebay or one of the forum members?

I had several of this model as being a reseller. 40% had problems with loose screws in the movement, making it stop or ultimately stop after some time. sometimes it was the rotor screw, sometimes screws that hold the movement in the case. This movement is very cheap to service. I would recommend a full service on these kind of movements. I pay less than

Hi, I searched into this matter last week. It seems that the genuine has a polished case and the replica a brushed case. so it is not 1:1.
-
I use very sticky stuff to prevent it from dripping into the movement on higher temperatures. If you want to prevent the rotor making sound at all, in your case I would suggest super glue.
-
You can start using the search button on this forum. and find information to put little amount of sticky grease to the ball bearings of the rotor. good luck.

I bought 3 concords C1 Ultimate. 1 rose gold, 2 steel. Just now a bad feeling took over... I tested all 3 Concords with my electronic diamond tester, to test if the sapphire was really sapphire. All three FAILED THE TEST. While all other watches i have do not fail the test at the same moment with the same temperature. Any of you guys tested your Concord sapphire???? cheers!

I think the flaw is that on the rep the gold color of the dial is different than the color of the case. I own the rose gold rep.

Asia 7750 Valjoux Working Chronograph movement 28800bph
hooky replied to bvc's topic in General Discussion
Maybe he wants to work on the clone if you tell hem that you will take all risk. To him he will be hesitant to work on it, because he does not know this clone movement (is used to Swiss ETA 7750) and he does not have spare parts for the clone is something is broken. And he charges 20 (dollar/euro) per hour, which is a good deal imo. Servicing this movement takes in between 5-8hours. The watch smiths on this forum also charges a reasonable price, maybe almost same. Remember, you get what you paid for. If you service this 'cheap' movement it will be a whole lot more reliable and accurate, maybe almost similar as the Swiss ETA 7750. I let all my asian movements service. And most of this info you asked is already clear and readily available in this forum. The search button may be a good friend. Good luck. -
Scotty- I just sent Jakub an email to his ARcoatings@gmail.com address. I am sure he will read that, also for administration, but does reply for unknown reasons. The parce to me was sent on the end of October....
-
Today I received my IWC Portuguese Chrono back from Jakub. No work has been done. a single sapphire crystal that I sent is still missing though, but i informed Jakub about that. Maybe one day someone can shed some light on what problems Jakub exactly had.

I would never go to a shop who also sells watches. Even not cheap ones. Just go to a person who only is a watch smith. Most times to them a watch is a watch replica or gen, does not matter. As long as it is not a 'Canal Street' watch i am sure they are willing to work on it, specially if it has a ETA clone movement. My watch smith has worked on many many replica's. Serviced movements, replaced dials, crystals, etc. cheers!
-
well, yes, If I was him, I would only accept single crystals and rotor's etc. And maybe a minimum of 2 crystals to save shipping and administration effort. Otherwise lots of work with watch smith removing and replacing crystals, administration, logistics, storage, etc etc.

you need to find how to get the crown stem out. first get the crown protecter off. also get the case back off with help of a rubber ball. Then you can get the crown stem out with the right manner and right tool. Search this forum and you will find. welcome to the hobby!

Hi, I have done my relume in the USA with Vaccum / Vaclume. I used my local watch smith to detach the hands and dial from the watch and shipped it to the USA. to avoid customs problems... And to get one of the best lume jobs that can be done. His work is awesome. and very good businesslike fast communication. good luck.
