  1. There was somebody selling a women's speedmaster...can't remember who. It needed lume on the hands (gaping holes...no lume...NOT just bad lume), accurately quartz and cheap. Gotta find it again... OTHERWISE, the DJ's women's models are good. For just over $200 with ETA...not too bad.
  2. Was going to say a PAM...but picked up one out of surprise and was well...pleasantly surprised. Was going to say gold...but when family gives you gifts of gold...you don't say no. I guess I'll have to say a blinged out ice watch. Can't see myself wearing one of those to be honest.
  3. Thanks for responding to this Freddy. Answers don't get much clearer than this.
  4. That is a great collection. You have some excellent top notch pieces there as well as good variety. I'm thinking though, somebody needs to do a write up on the new black IWC Aquatimer Galapagos. I've only seen one write up on this series.
  5. They call it the "mid" size. It gets confusing looking at the pics as you don't have a reference to show the smaller size. I think it measures 39mm so a little smaller than the usual moon watch.
  6. Big congrats. The aging on it is really wonderful.
  7. Keep us posted on the purchase...take pics. I'm a bit afraid of the size...but it might be what I need. I was looking at the quad winder.
  8. >sniff<...you bring a tear to my eye. Glad to have you aboard. Glad to have you stick around...and RIGHT BACK AT YOU for all this as you've become as good an active member as any...and a great source to buy watches from. To those lonely Noobs out there, the Guide to Picking Up Women is linked in my signature.
  9. Here's the booking thread...you'll have to wait until after the Fall though as he's booked up through October. Zig's Booking Thread
  10. Hike...your sig pic of the dunking PAM is AMAZING.
  11. AND...the Acetimer ones are probably the most cost effective. I was thinking of getting one...but am thinking these days more of just going for a box, and saying screw it to winding...swirling when I have to. It's those vintage movements with no quick dateset that drive me nuts.
  12. Fun pic. I'm a ruthless deleter though...well...maybe not. I'll have to rummage through stuff when I get the time.
  13. You have to email them asking for a sample as an independent hobbyist or something like that. You can also try this thread for a cheaper alternative. Lume Source Thread
  14. Heh heh...it was just such a brutal site. When they essentially post the Omega catalogue, don't mention that they're reps, say the pieces include the gen Omega Caliber movements... Yowzaaa!!
  15. I haven't tried one...but Acetimer.com has been used by a few members here with success it seems.
  16. It's a good point. I guess some folks (myself included) have spent many hours writing up some of the stuff to help folks along and share what knowledge we have. I do recognize one of the big problems is that this huge wealth of info can easily get lost or outdated and that it needs to be kept up to date, or bumped up to become noticeable again. It's a matter of time. Somebody needs to step in and take on the initiative to put these posts together. I've thought about doing an annual, or quarterly update to the "Best Values for <$150" thread...but it's time and effort...time and effort. We keep hoping that someone else will take up the torch, because we have other obligations, other projects, etc. I'll try and do my part...and I challenge others to do the same.
  17. Yeah...you don't wear silk and taffeta to inspect a petrol transfer station. You have to demonstrate a knowledge of the work environment and the work you'll hopefully be doing. BTW...good luck on the interview.
  18. Word from the Master...'nuff said. That being said, I have a few reps I have no desire for Zig to do his magic on...I'll let them run dry, and replace the movement when the time comes, or sell it here for parts, and get a new "Next Hot Thing".
  19. If that is not so obviously a 100% scam site, I don't know what is. Those are all gen catalogue pics, and they have the specs of the gen watches in the description. It's totally fake. At $350, we get those for $250, and we know what we're getting. Welcome to RWG...we just saved you money!!
  20. My job interviews are always either IT or managerial related, so I usually wear dress watches...either a Rolex DJ, IWC Spitfire, or something along those lines. Your choice for what you do sounds good.
  21. I like having the opportunity to have and feel a design of watch in my hand that I either can't see in person (not available, limited edition, or whatever)...seeing something "special" made attainable (the issue being that even if you have the money, a 1 week delivery is tolerable vs. a 12 month wait list or more). I like the reading, the researching, the comparison of pics of gens and reps, the debates about what NEEDS to be modded vs. what I think are minor issues that I don't notice...the surprise at the quality of the pieces that arrive. The community of watch experts here has been fantastic...I'm AMAZED at how much of a REAL community this is...the comraderie, dedication, goodwill, bad will...all of it is good, as it's all real. In isolation, I probably would have bought 1 rep, and been done with it. Being part of this board makes me enjoy a thirst for the watches, the hunt, everything.
  22. You are getting some sick pieces there...with the IWC TG too. Awesome!!
  23. Have post counts changed (dropped, levelled, increased) on the gen forums that people frequent? I don't frequent any one group often enough to be a gauge. I'm curious if it's watches in general, or specific reps or what?
