  1. Comdemore- You can't understand me because I have forgotten how to speak english. Nute shoudl be nuts. And commit is an English term as in commit to a psychiatric institution. All in good fun. Most importantly, very nice collection.
  2. And I thought I was nute. I am not sure whether to congratulate you or commit you. But I will admit I do love the Fiddy too.
  3. Watch looks great. Certainly could be the best one. You can't swap a Swiss 7750 movement though without major use of Asian parts unless you get one in the right configuration though.
  4. Saturday: Saturday Night: Sunday:
  5. Very nice. Love the 02 and 03. After all, it is all in the dial.
  6. FGD- Beautiful stuff. Dial looks great.
  7. Wow! Rolli- You never cease to amaze me.
  8. It will have a big impact on rep sales. At current prices everyone who is affected by the crisis will think twice before buying that next rep. IMHO, it has already had a major impact on the gen world. New watches that AD's were quoting 3-6 month lead times are now becoming available in 3-4 weeks. And IMHO the secondary market is coming down as well. We are only now beginning to see watches come out of the woodwork by sellers who need the money. I should also add I walked into a couple of AD's in the last couple of weeks and I am seeing watches they could never get their hands on before. If you can, save your pennies as we will be seeing some great deals (rep and gen) this year. Is a $600-$1,000 rep really that different from a gen. You think before you buy - or at least I do.
  9. Well, I guess they ran out of good ideas. They are looking as silly as recent Zenith's and Big Bangs. People will do anything to overcharge on a new limited edition.
  10. Great review and enjoyable read. By the way, the AR makes a huge difference.
  11. VDB- I have them made as needed. I sold my last two to a forum member. I most likely can get a couple made in November. For a smith with a jeweler's lathe it is a pretty easy process. The tricky part is getting the base stem because it is thicker than any stock stem. PM me if you want some help and can wait that long. ATB- Kruz
  12. Rolli- That is one fabulous Pre-V.
  13. I love it when the Big Boys discuss vintage movements. I learn something from these posts every time. Personally, I am still waiting on my first Angelus masterpiece but hopefully the end is in sight.
  14. Oh stop whining. How about playing with nuclear waste.
  15. Congrats. Enjoy it. Your seller is offering excellent prices on everything you mentioned. Perhaps a combination of a weakening global economy and a strengthening US dollar will help all us dollar based buyers (who still have money). I do know anecdotally of a friend who is buying a certain hot new model and he was initially quoted 5-6 months minimum wait and he jus heard back from the AD that he will get it in 5-6 weeks.
  16. R- Best of luck. Finding a proper CDG plate for a non-alarm stem wound is like finding a needle in a haystack.
  17. If it is being sold as new with box and papers and warranty it is a good price. If you prefer the Panerai Panerai engraved movement (as opposed to the current CDG) you can buy it in the second hand market for about the same or a little less.
  18. Great to hear you have settled in over there but looking forward to your return. Enjoy the rest of the trip.
  19. Assuming you have the right parts (and I am sure you do) I would guess the AD watchsmith has little interest in your franken project. Also AD watchsmiths are often the wrong person. They can only handle movements and putting together perfectly fit parts. There is a reason why Ziggy and the very few other qualified folks have a long line. And although Ziggy is away for the next couple of weeks you have the benefit of Ubi who as you know has not done one but two. Finally, I would say that my average Franken takes 2 years and several trips to the watchsmith. I know you know all this and are just venting. BUt I would be very nice to Ubi.
  20. And to give you a sense how good the old case is - here are a couple of pics of old case versus gen (albeit the case is the pre-daylight version but you get the drift):
  21. Congrats on a beautiful project. Steph's work is always impeccable. And you are right that these watches are anything but reps. They are truly unique watches. Wear that one well.
