  1. Davidsen's Fiddy uses the 117 case set up that has been around for years now. The crystal I have from him has the identical measurements but has the double AR which should be removed. His contribution is a better set of hands and a worse dial. Why he went to grey font I will never know. And to answer the question - parts.
  2. You guys are all wimps. Fess up - you love that show. I have watched more than one episode with my teenagers. Thank god they are laughing with me. Of course, it is truly disgusting at a whole lot of levels. The parents look sillier than the kids. But if you live in NYC, LA, London, etc and your kid is going to private school they actually go to these things quite frequently. But neither my son nor his friends wear watches. They wear blackberries. One kid looked at a PAM I was wearing and his comment was "cool, old school".
  3. Well I hope your recovery is speedy. Enjoy that EL Fiddy- still the best version ever made. It is funny how a quick glance down at your favorite watch on the wrist can brighten the day.
  4. My faves are Ferragamo, Gucci and Testoni. And if I hit the jackpot - say hello to John Lobb. They have an amazing store in my town.
  5. I just read this whole loop and I have to say I am very confused. Ajoe I can't imagine you are saying that people should not be allowed to donate or fundraise. People can elect to give or not give. I suspect the school where you are furthering your education would not exist without donations. I just wish I had that option on my taxes. On POTR there was a good amount knowledge and no one took it lightly. If you disagree with the concept you simply don't give.
  6. Thanks for the tip. Can you use existing crystal from 222?
  7. Great pics and a fabulous watch. I have only seen the gen but the crystal, although a little odd, looks really good and sets it apart from a lot of other watches. IMHO, this mus be one of the best out of the box reps. I see my willpower falling....
  8. Very nice watch. I bought a base for a project but have been enjoying it enough that I am going to keep it together. Simplicity is truth.... Enjoy it.
  9. Enjoyable review. And I have very similar observations on mine. Basically an excellent rep. Slippage in the bezel is not a disaster but not great. It is very frustrating to see that they went to the trouble to use a sandwich crystal on this one but then cheaped out on the cyclops and relatives thicknesses on the two crystals. The crystal on the 199 does a far better job on magnification. Unfortunately it obviously does not fit.The engraved He valve is correct as I have seen 3 genuines. I also must say I never noticed the strap changing system either. But then again the first year of the 243 series was the I series and as far as I know the new strap changing system was introduced in the J series. So your rep with no serial number is accurate.
  10. Hey Ubi- Remind this week to ship out the stuff I owe you. I keep forgetting.
  11. Lanikai- Looks like you will be having some fun. Best of luck with the projects.
  12. Very informative post. Ubi - nice to see you weighing in with the facts. I love that blue dial. Is there an issue on the nautilus with screws versus pins on the bracelet meeting the case or do I have the wrong watch?
  13. People can always do as they wish. I just felt it was a nice thing to do for a fellow forum member who I know has owned the movement and has been looking for these parts for a long time. I stand by my post. Anyone who can actually use these parts shouldn't think twice about bidding. I just hate to see money go out the window to some anonymous seller. What I hadn't thought about was if the seller were himself an RWG'er. Now there is a moral dilemma. Nah, I would just keep my mouth shut.
  14. So sorry to hear this. Customs can do anything they want and Narikaa is absolutely right. It is a great idea to see if you can get it sent back to the original sender. In general FedEx is the worst. They were the first folks to rollover when the whole Homeland Security thing came up.
  15. Dave- A very nice discerning collection. I still haven't gotten there yet but I aspire to have a similarly sized collection. At least my count is going down.
  16. 90 degrees so theoretical beachwear:
  17. The member (who is not me for anyone who is wondering ) already has a case and movement spacer which are good to go. So he will have one hell of a Franken. I also know he has been working on this one for more than a year.
  18. Yes they are but it is useless unless you have the gen OP 7750 based movement. Power Reserve bar, etc. does not line up with any of the asian movements. I am aware of one member here who has been looking for this dial and hands for quite a while as he owns the actual movement. So I would politely ask that unless you actually own the correct movement please refrain from bidding it up. I know that forum members are a very small set of bidders but this is useless to you unless you own the gen PAM movement. Common courtesy.
  19. Gen hands I have are blue bordering on black. I can't tell from the pics what color the hands are. I agree the dial markings may be too yellow. Still a very pretty piece.
  20. The one that gets the most comments (which I still own) is the Graham. The ones that give me a thrill on the wrist would be the franken 03 and 23 PAM's and my IWC with Ziggy relume and RepAustria's real wood insert.
  21. Congrats on the purchase. I have liked this watch for quite a while.
  22. TK- Big congrats on the watch. Can't wait to see the end result.
  23. Fix the pin refers to flattening the top of the pin which holds the cg lever in the cg. It should be flat and gently polished. You can do this by removing the pin gently filing and the polishing. By fix a new crown I think he means replacing it. The crown actually looks pretty good though. It would be nicer if it was a little bit closer against the case but then you would need to either shave down the base of the cg or get a new one as the lever would be too short to properly contact the crown.
  24. My CG is coming from the same place. My theory is to always buy at least one of any project being undertaken by an RWG member. It helps get the project off the ground and you never know. Look at the Rolex vintage datewheel project, watchmaster cyclops or Lello crowns and datewheels. They don't always work perfectly but you are damn glad they happened.
