  1. I am betting it is Swiss. I still can't rationalize wearing that thing on my wrist though. You have to have a 10" wrist to wear a 46mm square.
  2. Sssurfer- Looks great. Finepics date wheel looks really good. Is that Chieftang's cyclops? Someday I will finish mine. Waiting to get it back from PVD process. And the frustrating thing is I have the date wheel and the gen PVD 5218-201 crown just waiting for the case. Most importantly, wear it well.
  3. Stunning piece. I had never even thought of having Rob switch "t" to "l". Strap looks excellent. Mine is on the way back to Rob for OEM crown (although it is a Pre-V 5218).
  4. The crowns are from 5218 201A and B (if you have the PVD as well) to be exact. I am trying to mount them on the 2893 rep cases.
  5. Well, we will find out. My 2893 GMT is off to Ziggy with an OEM crown and Jimmy Crown guard. I know he has a world class drill press for case manipulation and has good access to innumerable stems, stem adapters, tubes and gaskets. Hope springs eternal.
  6. Nice lume job. Is Flav does Rolex the sequel to Debbie Does Dallas?
  7. V- Drill a hole? No worries. The master has quite the parts collection (stems, adapters,etc.). It is funny how Rolex has at some point in time made a part that will fit virtually any set up. Sssurfer- I am fairly sure it is the Watchmaster cyclops.
  8. If you are willing to pay the price the hands are usually available from Michael at Adam-co.
  9. I think I will keep these awhile before selling them. Kind of silly to have two but I do love those original movement PAM's. These will have taken me 15 months, came from Watchonpo and all-in cost close to $800-900 each. Then again it meets my original movement rep ratio (the Kruzer theory on rationalizing spending way too much on reps). Less than 15%. Ziggy lumed these so long ago he may not remember. He usually uses c3 but he may have matched these up to either the original color on the rep or pictures.
  10. Here is the latest and I would have to say it is completed. As usual, big thanks to Ziggy : Relume, gen hands, Jimmy CG, Palp Crown and revised datewheel: With his brother: Final Mod for the brother on the left (that CG/crown combo looks rather pathetic) to come - if you are actually looking at this post and have been collecting PAM's for a while you know what you are looking at down below : The funny thing is here is what I have learned. On the A and B's our better rep crowns are really pretty good (typically they are about 1.90mm) but the CG is pretty lame. You have one of two choices - stick Palp crown in existing CG or best of all original crown which is about 1.95mm in thickness with a Jimmy CG and you end up with close to perfection.
  11. Not to stir up trouble but I would question whether the watch in the picture from Andrew is a Swiss movement. I have never seen a dagger with the correct dagger shape on a swiss movement. I remember Ziggy did a review of one (I have no idea what dealer it came from) and concluded it was not Swiss. Other people can weigh in as that may have changed and they are now putting on the correct dagger on swiss movements.
  12. Frankly, the first generation of that rep is not good for the reasons mentioned above.
  13. Also H has sandwich dial. The key problem on most H reps is that the crownguard on the gen was changed (enlarged and with lever centered) - but not on most reps. Most PAM's after the A and B series have single-sided AR coat.
  14. The one good thing coming out of new models are dedicated movements. There is a finite number of watches you can make with a Unitas movement. the majority are though.
  15. I did speak with him. Yes, that is his listing on Ebay. If he is selling his pride and joy which he has invested so much time into, that should tell you something. He is having a difficult time. Next time I speak with him I will ask him to respond to some of the emails. I am not going to defend him on everyone's complaints as I don't (nor do I want to) know the gory details. I do know that he is in a fair amount of pain and as such he has not been able to sit to do watch work. In the past he has always made good as best he can. I am hopeful he will do so now as well.
  16. Can't wait. But I would be doubtful whether there are any improvements are made subsequent to the pics posted on King's site. If I were a betting man that "10" on the inner bezel is going to be off-kilter. If you prefer Swiss I would suggest buying the Asian and doing the movement swap yourself. It's cheaper and you know the quality of the movement going in.
  17. Great collection. Not for the faint of heart. Love the Mellow Yellow. The only ceramic HBB with proper "ceramic" engraving on the back.
  18. Well geniuses, that is what any watch will look like on a newborn.
  19. Thanks for the comments. I did catch the difference in the window outline and date font. The font can be fixed. I have a more fundamental question. Is the date window and date itself in the same place and the same size. At a minimum the window seems to extend fully between two hour markers on the gen versus smaller on ours. Then again, are the markers themselves on a gen dial a different size. Actually this question could be definitively answered if someone else has tried fitting a gen dial. I am willing to give it a try as my PO's are off to Ziggy for crown and relume but don't want to buy a dial if the date is not going to line up.
  20. The 3717 is a fabulous rep. Put it on a croc strap and you have understated elegance. Fabulous under a suit. Eunomians- Mine is on the way back from Ziggy with a relume and swiss swap. And if I have my way we will eventually have a fix for the day and date font. But I suspect it will be a couple of months.
  21. Exactly right. No one charges by the hour. It is based on the services provided. Ziggy provides wonderful service at better than fair prices. After numerous poor experiences with local watch smiths and well over 50 watches taken care of by Ziggy I highly recommend him.
