  1. If there was QC and a guarantee you would be paying $6,000 - not $400. It looks like they did step up for glass on the back rather than plastic based on the description. I am really curious to see how well that lower chrono reset. and inner bezel mechanism works. It is very cool on the gen.
  2. Probably. But look what is paid for the watches these crowns go on. Do you think you can get Pre-V parts from PAM?
  3. Hard to believe it started life as a shiny new Davidsen deco bezel complete with bizarre dial color, orange lume, half broken crown, etc. Can't wait to get it back. I am too lazy to dig up pictures but those who have some familiarity with vintage PAM's will recognize which one this is modeled after the 3646 with Rolex bezel. The dial color and vintage lume match up beautifully with the gen.
  4. Parts: Cyclops - Watchmen (still available, perfect for the 2893's) They are correct 6mm size with comparable magnification to gen. On some there is a small amount of distortion but it is true on the gens as well. Chieftang made an even better one but it is larger diameter. I recommend that one for all later models. Datewheel - Lello or Finepics (still available and necessary mod) Crown - Gen Pre-A or A (not necessary if you have Jimmy CG). If stock CG you want a palp (crown and cg hole are bigger) CG- Jimmy, very difficult to find
  5. Wow, that is one extensive kit. Why do I think half the fun will be programming it? When you have everything tweaked post a sound file. Do you play in a band or just for yourself?
  6. Interesting look but I prefer the contrast of a lighter strap against the dark PVD and black face.
  7. I would like to send the Technician some of my past Asian 7750's. In many cases, unless you completely disassemble and properly clean out the dirt from the non-clean room conditions of a rep factory or put the proper oils that were never carefully put in you have a very marginal working movement or one which will ultimately grind to a halt. Even the ETA's we get can be marginally put together from scavenged parts. I had been told quite a while ago that the dipping approach is often used at the factory level and that is often the root of our problems.
  8. Very entertaining. Here is the perfect analogy. Under the Tech theory if my car needs a service (change of fluids, check brakes, etc.) the proper solution would be to take it to the car wash.
  9. Great to hear. Let us know when you are ready for the next run. The 2.0's are already sold out.
  10. Well mine is supposedly on its way. I have to check with the seller. It should have been there already.
  11. Two gaskets is more contemporary version. Most likely your bevel is less as well.
  12. Now go take a look at the Santos Chrono with 7753 movement (same as gen movement). Reps have come a long way both in quality and price. No one can accuse you of not using the search function.
  13. Well the Black Jelly Fish (in gold) is available for $17,000. Great watch but don't hold your breath for that rep. Very cool watch though.
  14. If you are having an issue with an Asian 7750 there really is only one intelligent option as was mentioned - Ziggy. He has worked on hundreds of them and has spare movements and parts. Even if you find someone who will work on the movement they are unlikely to have parts. Most importantly, having sent watches over the years to the service centers for Cartier, Breguet, Rolex and AP I can tell you that in my experience you get a better result for far less money.
  15. Rob, of course fabulous work. Can't wait to see it fully reassembled. And for those you who thought I was nuts to buy these crowns.
  16. Welcome back. You have got to catch up on a few of the threads.
  17. Really excellent work. The remix on the lume is interesting. I have two watches with gen hands but they are pre-H and they are straight up C-3. PAM is getting fancy in their old age. Most importantly, really nice work.
  18. Fabulous review. Informative and entertaining. Interestingly, it made me decide to defer buying that rep. Between the new BCE with improved dial and my old school Chrono Avenger I think I will take a pass. But still a real By-Tor quality review and that is saying quite a bit.
  19. I don't know the shape of the caseback on the Ferrari but there are a couple of commonly sold dedicated caseback openers for 44mm and 47mm PAM's. I think Davidsen sells one. I have one coming from Angus which is made of Aluminum so it should minimize scratching, etc. I think they run around $40.00. My standard Bergeon does cap out at about 44mm.
  20. If you can't tell the person it is a rep then don't give it. There is no upside. Good quality reps are not cheap and you could take the same amount of money and buy them something nice. They will think you have bought them a very expensive gift (most likely too expensive if you don't know them well enough to tell them its a rep) and they will be hurt or [censored] when they find out it is a fake. Now if it is some woman you are taking out for a wild weekend and don't expect to see her again... Just kidding. Don't do it.
