  1. It is Super C-3 on gen. Reps are typically never right anyhow. I made that mistake early on with my 183g. Relumed it with super white. Walked into AD and compared with gen. Gen I saw which was second generation is C-3.
  2. Well, I knew where you were. Enjoy those last few day.
  3. Yeah baby! The man is waiting (and so is my 89).
  4. I agree that it is not just new versus old. Intelligent people get it.
  5. Now guys, be nice. At the rate things are going there won't be any dealers or offerings to grouse about.
  6. Not if you relume the whole thing. Loooks great though.
  7. No guts no glory. In this country you are at risk for $50.00. Having said that it is a hassle. By the way, I never use any ATM other than one of the two or three major banks here. If any viable service requires substantial fee it will change my purchasing habits - more than one at a time to amortize the cost.
  8. It looks like the days of smaller part-time dealers may be coming rapidly coming to a close. I obviously hope that Eddie will come back. If River is really going away, Eddie is gone for the present and PT is no longer listing, rep collecting may well get more dificult. Kudos to all the dealers who are persevering. I suspect, but hope I am wrong, that this business will leave only the larger off-shore folks standing for whom it is a full-time living and the risks are worth it.
  9. I just noticed that one dealer is going directly to secured credit card processor. That is fabulous. And don't ask who on this forum. "They" are out to get us. Actually, it is not funny. May PP rot in hell.
  10. I guess it was inevitable. My question for non-U.S. dealers (virtually all) is whether it is possible to have a U.S. bank account or an account with a bank with U.S. affiliate. Domestic wire transfers can be done on-line. International wire transfers often require a visit to the bank and $20 even for larger bank customers. The downside for consumers is that there is no appeal process if you don't like what you get from the dealer. Then again I always thought the Paypal appeal process was ludicrous. Otherwise customers and dealers will have to factor in the costs of whatever the method is that is safe. By the way what is that process? Western Union?
  11. I agree with Chief. Font is better but they were unwillling to spend the $100 bucks to get the exact correct Swiss Font (that one you can't get for free - ). And the lume does look bad in that particular picture. The watch is still a solid improvement though.
  12. Couple questions/comments. On the chronomat with graphite dial - subdials are the wrong color. I own the rep and walked into a store and looked closely at the gen. So think twice before you decide which dial to buy. On the Bentley's and Navitimers beyond the AR coat the impression I have is that the rehaut is off and the dial bezel is disproportionately large leaving a too small dial relative to the gen. I don't own those reps for that reason but would love to be told I am wrong. I haven't seen the Steelfish but my vote still goes to original version chrono avenger. The key flaws were CG's and size. CG's are a little different. The size issue surprises me as I looked at a gen (white dial) while wearing one (black dial) and although I didn't take mine off to compare it felt and looked pretty comparable. My second choice is latest gen Chronomat in white dial or maybe black - not graphite. My 2 cents.
  13. My sentiment exactly. You are making it too hard. Try and trade. Alternatively sell the one you have and buy a new one. Potential negative arbitrage but if you are sick of it, you are sick of it.
  14. This looks great. I applaud your efforts.
  15. I have mentioned this in previous posts. I met with Jacob a few years ago on behalf of a major international fashion company (which also owns a couple of watch companies) who was considering investing in the business to allow Jacob to expand his distribution and open up his new store(s). My client couldn't get comfortable with the proposition. I had always wondered how Jacob had gotten the capital for his expansion. This may well explain it. When I met him he was selling out of a booth on 47th Street. The person who made the introduction was the president of a major record label. The amazing thing was that during our first one-hour meeting the record exec told jacob exactly what he wanted at the beginning of the meeting and by the time we walked out the door the label exec was walking out the door with a customized $20,000 watch. Fully blinged out, of course.
  16. No guts, no glory. At that price I would be inclined to simply add a $1,000 and buy the gen.
  17. Can't wait to see the results. For those, like me, who couldn't get it together for the first run I am hopeful for a second one. It is a major organizational challenge but well worth it. Thanks again, Chief.
  18. Now where is the fun in that? Just kidding. This will be interesting. I do thinkyou have the right categories. Here is my shot: Movement: Swiss ETA (Swiss parts) A7750 (new or old) CN ETA clones Asian 21j Crystal: Sapphire Mineral Plastic AR Coat (yes or no) Lume: Generic Luminova Super Luminova (if hands are different from dial, specify) Case: SS (316l or other) ti if gold plated: 5mm or more Less than 5mm Fits Genuine Parts: Yes/No Functions: Are what they are. If Faux chrono or "He" valve say this Bracelet or strap: Whichever it is. Finally, if a dealer doesn't know the answer to a particular question I would prefer to see them still list the item but state that. If you are going to try and enforce it on their web site I suspect you will know who actually relies on these forums for substantial sales and who doesn't. Should be interesting. Already I feel like some dealers are using listings on this forum as their excess inventory dump off.
  19. I am with Ubi. Go with whatever you think will get wrist time. For collectability I am partial to the MBW DRSD. Based on the two alternatives you are considering it sounds like you are into 44mm watches. The Rolex will never be that. Does that help?
  20. I am 99% sure it doesn't. I just bought one from a person who got his with his chrono avenger and it has ss tang buckle. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...p;rd=1&rd=1
  21. Oh well, anyone have any ideas for the case?
  22. That is great to hear. I have never had the opportunity to hold both at the same time and the good news is that the version I saw about a year ago had a silver hand rather than a white one. Wear it well. Beyond the clasp (and I agree there is a big difference in weight) I also find that the day date does not line up on the reps on certain days where as it did on the gen I was playing with at the AD. I don't think it is just my watch as I have both the ti and ss and they both have the same issue.
