  1. Between ti and wrong caseback I am sticking with the original Ingen. By the way the date font isn't that bad and there should be a fix available for that in the near future.
  2. Both of these watches are worth the relume. IMHO, it adds pretty significantly to getting it closer to gen.
  3. Well what else are you going to say when the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury is coming to visit. It is not like the Chines agreed to float their currency.
  4. If o-ring means inserting a thin rubber/plastic cover over the pin holding the lever in place that may be your easiest fix.
  5. Great pics. I am very happy with the original. Do yourself a favor and reglue the deployment on the bracelet. Love the chronos but a date is a higher priority for me too. Is it the same caseback as the non-chrono?
  6. Or putting it a little more pleasantly, might I suggest a little less frequency in your emailing or PM'ing. Hounding Finepics is not going to speed up the process. Quite the contrary. bb
  7. PVD is a tricky thing. Different PAM models use different coatings. Davidsen's look very good but are missing that final sheen (think it is a result of bead blasting). Palp's are beautiful but are too dark for some of the earlier models. Finepics ti-aln coating is probably closest to the gen. If you had to have only one I would choose the 177h. The coating can be damaged. Ever wonder why PAM does not make PVD watches anymore? To many returns for recoating. They moved onto Titanium. I only occasionally wear the PVD's. IMHO, not a daily wearer.
  8. Looks great. Very nice pictorial as well. And yes, Ziggy uses his artistic skills to do fabulous relumes. His vintage and "tritium" work is equally impressive.
  9. Actually, Rob uses aircraft epoxy on stuff like this.
  10. Rolex Sub - 1976. Now ask me where it is. I lost it. In 1985.
  11. That is the fatal flaw on the watch. The thin end of the deployment is simply glued on to the final link on the bracelet and it will ultimately break. Mine did. The gen have the pieces welded together (quite elegantly I might add). If it hasn't already happened to you I would suggest beating it to the punch and reglueing with a good epoxy. Lovepanerai - Contact the dealer. I have a new bracelet on the way.
  12. Exactly right. Throughthe G series "Panerai, Panerai," etc. H series has cote de geneve bridges and one blue engraving (beyond the small words on the outside of the movement.
  13. But I will tell you, if you owned it and you wore it out you would still be accused of wearing a fake.
  14. Try the reset first as described above. It worked for both of mine.
  15. Straps are more comfortable and you can put them on your winder.
  16. All the best. You are still my hero for that Freak.
  17. Fiddy and 217. Kept the Fiddy as it is the infamous 4rth version and has been Ziggified. Looks good but just doesn't sit comfortably on my wrist which is odd becausse I am very comfortable wearing 194 or 187. Dumped the Ziggified 217 as the upside down engravings drove me nuts and the CG on the other side bugged my left arm. The IWC FA Jones, although prettty, feels like a cheap watch. Even the Laureus Chrono feels odd on. But the most painful ones are definitely the WM's. I feel the love. They are nice pieces and I do appreciate them but never wear them. It simply occurred to me one day that there are probably a couple hundred "vintage" PAM's and wearing one which looks like it is one, IMHO, is ridiculous. No disrespect to the vintage fans as some of those pieces are beautiful. But in truth you are far more likely to see someone wearing a gen Newman Daytona than an early PAM.
  18. Beautiful pics by the way. I do wish they would make a proper crownguard with lever centered in the guard and a deeper caseback. Those are the two flaws that keep me in the A-G's rather than the H's.
