  1. Beyond PAM's and MBW, Breitling ti Chrono Avenger, Inge (by the way it appears there are two versions with one having a better datewheel), VC Overseas, IWC GST Chrono ti are all pretty good. And if you can get over the A's the 036 from Josh is pretty damn good as well.
  2. In terms of being legible in a totally black room Gens can be good for 8 hours.
  3. Never been called out. I once showed up to a meeting wearing the old FM Vegas rep and the client was wearing a gen gold Vegas he had bought with the proceeds of a good night in Vegas. Needless to say, I brought it up first. The funny thing was my roulette mechanism worked better than the gen. He agreed.
  4. I say no. They are reps. But wouldn't we love it if all of our reps were in fact "clones". After all, half the fun of collecting reps is getting the best one possible within your budget and, if so inclined, modding them further to achieve the ultimate replica also known as a clone. And as for anal girlfriends, if so inclined, I suspect you wouldn't mind a clone either.
  5. Looks great. Wear it well. The date font fix should be available soon. You do have to polish the bezel markers though. I think it is the same issue on the 243 as well although I am still trying to figure it out. That is the best crown and cg combination I have seen of all the PAM reps.
  6. I have no problem with the price if it is that good. I have bought my wife many expensive branded bags although never a rep. I am not worried about someone pulling out all the contents and analyzing every pocket. Does this bag pass the "Park Avenue" test (i.e. every woman who doesn't have one knows what it is and what it costs)? And yes, of course you should tell the person. If my wife wants it, it will be partially out of respect for my love of excellent reps.
  7. No date pusher on the side. That is the one of the first original movement PAM's, The watch is fabulous. The price is excellent and it is very unlikely it will ever be made again. IMHO, the PR movement (2892-A2) in the first generation genuine PAM's (and this rep) is better than what is in the contemporary PR gens. The finish on the movement in the rep is great as well (except for the purposeful ommision of an "i" in Officice"). If it is the one with Hobnail dial as in Eddie's pictures be forewarned that the gen with that dial only came in PVD. The plain dial version of this did come in SS. This is one where, if so inclined, it is worthwhile to PVD, add Palp crown, relume, add date wheel and cyclops. But you will have $7-800 into a very good original movement rep of a $6,000 plus watch. Otherwise keep it as is and know that you have a very nice and beautiful timepiece which can last a lifetime with proper care. By the way that is the lowest price I have ever seen. If you love PAM's and you got the dough, definitely give it a go.
  8. Patek Sky Moon, Breguet Platinum Tourbillon and a Timex for rainy days. And by the way, at the tourneau's in my neighborhood there are not a lot of hot girls - just overeager salespeople on commision.
  9. Sash- Is real croc leather croc or leather? Can you post pics in any case. My wife has been drooling for this bag for years. She has never worn a rep bag but she also is pragamatic enough to know that at $23,000 for the croc (yeah, I asked a few years ago at the Hermes store) she won't being seeing this one anytime soon (read as in my lifetime).
  10. His crystals fit his cases. His cases are closer to the gens than the standard reps. On the crown guard and case he had them 1:1'ed years ago. I have found him to be entirely honest to the point where he has volunteered information which would cost him money. So if those crystals are glass someone should tell him. He may not know.
  11. A well-spent day. Brushing looks great on the fiddy. What did you use?
  12. I wish it was an IPOD. I actually owned one of these years ago. Kind of like bell bottoms. Wait a minute. bell bottoms are back!
  13. A cheap one. Have you noticed the glass on the boards have been shattering lately?
  14. The reversed wheel can be made quite easily but you have to have the movement - oh I mean a hundred of you do.
  15. Gee, I wonder what show you were watching last night. My answer is no. Short of murder, first-time offenders never get time.
  16. Don't forget PAM "photoshops" the heck out of their pictures. If you go into a dealer and take a look at several gens it all becomes clear. I am of the opinion that they are too lazy to custom mix a color. So I stick with C-3.
  17. The Birkin is the holy grail to shoe/bagaholics. I have dumped too much money into these premium bags over the same years. This year's hot bag in NYC - Jimmy Choo red leather. By the way my wife doesn't even have to look at the bag itself to know whether a Birkin is gen. If you don't recognize the person carrying or they are not sporting 5 carats or more and very expensive clothers - it is a fake. Women who carry Birkin's are not running around in sweats. Hollywood excepted of course.
  18. It looks big because it is big. A square is going to have significantly larger area than a circle with the same width. I feel comfortable wearing 47mm traditional watches but this one looks huge. Should fit well under a shirt sleeve. I suppose it is built to sit comfortably outside of your flight suit. It is a very well done rep though.
  19. Clearly C-3 on the Fiddy and 177h. It is just the way it is shot.
  20. If you want Power Reserve and don't wan't to pay up for 2892 A2 (well worth it though), then you can do what I am doing. I start with a 222 (brushed SS case with a stunning dial), relume to C-3 super lume hspec, and replace the case with date pusher on the side with a solid case. It should look pretty darn good. The only downside is you have to keep it on a winder when not wearing it or be prepared to keep cranking the hands around until you get to the right date. Sounds ridiculous but mine is with Ziggy as we speak and I am hoping to get it back shortly.
  21. Ubi- Where is that parts box which seems to have a little bit of all the good stuff? Neat and organized - I would expect no less.
