Unfortunately that one on the bay is his last piece. His supplier stopped manufacturing them months ago. I can tell you that at his original price $50-60 there was little to no profit in them as eventually the supplier caught on and kept jacking up his price. Jimmy said he would do a little checking to see if he can find another manufacturer. But don't hold your breath.

Exactly what the title says. I saw that Jimmy had doubled the price on a CG on EBAY and contacted him. It turns out that he was down to his last couple of pieces. He is not going to do another run. So if there is anything else of this nature that he sells that you have been thinking about you should buy it. He is getting out of this business.

Bling her out for Christmas. A couple of the dealers sell an "iced" SS AP Royal Oak. The bezel hands and markers are all "diamond". Looks very close to the gen and the stones and setting of them look very close to the gen. The only obvious fault is the gen does not have "diamond" encrusted hands. I have compared the two together at Wempe and the rep looks better with those hands. The SS makes it a more subtle blingy piece. This is the only rep my wife liked and this is comng from a woman with fairly nice gens (Breguet, Cartier, etc.). I got mine from Andrew.

If you are talking about the Slytech chrono bear in mind it is very big at 47mm and the gen is made out of titanium not SS as the rep is. Everything else is fairly good and you don't have to worry about the wrong date font or cyclops - there isn't any. On the face of it the 243 (2500) is 44mm and is made out of SS as it should be. The original version had a proper looking and functioning He valve but (IMHO) a really crappy 12 click bezel and mineral glass. Eddie's version has sapphire with AR coat. The mystery is whether it has a new and better 60 click bezel. The original version had a different He valve and pretty crappy 12 click bezel. You should ask first. Eddie's version has an He valve but it is engraved and the gen He valve has no writing at all. Pick your poison.

The key question is whether the bezel is the same 12 click bezel that came on the first version or whether it is one of the better bezel mechanisms.

If you want to wear a SD that looks like gen you either go Vintage MBW with the standard mods which will put you at more than $500 or buy gen. The modern reps just don't cut it. IMHO the modern SD is one that if you really love it save up and buy gen.

I can't play the link but I did see an interview he had with David Letterman compliments of Seinfeld who was actually, by chance, on the Letterman show. He really had no idea what to say. It was pretty clear that he himself was shocked by how he lost it. Probably drugs or drinking did not help. But it is very similar to Mel Gibson incident. Whether sober or straight once spoken you can't take it back. Now you know what the person is thinking - whether consciously or sub-consciously. By the way did Michael Richards really make a ton of money? I thought Seinfeld and Larry David made all the money through syndication rights.

SD everytime over the Sub. After all, you never know when you are going to need that HEV.

Slay- I do think about selling it. And not because it is not 1:1 but simply because I never wear it. However I still aspire to sometime put in the proper movement and fill in the lugs with solder. Then I may change my mind and start wearing it.

If they are in the wrong place you are probably stuck with what you got. If, however, the marker is crooked and it is attached on a post you most likely can fix it as the markers are put on after the base dial is fully made. You just have to work carefully not to scrape the dial underneath the markers.

No point in getting nasty. I had thought it was 1:1 when I bought it as well. I initially aspired to make mine as close as possible. And I still would love to put in an original movement at some point for my own satisfaction but that is where I give up. In fact, when I wear it I have only gotten negative comments about the aesthetics. And that is from colleagues with fairly substantial watch collections - albeit their vintages are all more established names (Rolex, Patek, Breguet, etc.). In any case, I respect those who pursue the dream as it is a labor of love. After all, you cannot wear it and say with a straight face it is a gen - no one who would care will believe you. And those who don't care about the heritage tend to think it is one ugly watch. Of course I wish I had known this before I spent the $1,000. And by the way the best way to get to 1:1 is to drop it out of a 2 story building. After all it is 60 years old and has been to war. And a pretty nasty one at that.
