  1. It is so special because it was the beginning of the end of RWG 1. It is nicely designed and the design phase was a joy to observe as so many members chipped in to help develop it. After that, not a pretty picture.
  2. Tommy- So pleased to see you well on the road to recovery. You were sorely missed here.
  3. Radiomirs come in 42 and 45. They look and feel smaller as they don't have crown guards and have lower profile.
  4. I assume you are talking about gens... Do you really want to walk around with "Rocky's" name on a $10,000 watch? "Yoh Adrian!!!" . Go out and buy new Ferrari PAM if you want another name on your watch. 187 or 194! But I do get your point on the 187. I am staring at your pic of the gen with the rep on my wrist and it is pretty amazing. If they ever make a 7753 version there is no point in buying gen. On this one the case, crown, cg, etc. is truly CNC'ed.
  5. Hey Archibald, I think I have a couple of those dials. AP too.
  6. My guess is that the real problem is that few manufacturers (read as one does) have the proper 6 axis machinery necessary to cut the teeth and bevel precisely (that one was for you Archibald).
  7. Ubi- That tells me you are going to bed early.
  8. Is that Yuan based? Local Brazil rates are 14-15%.
  9. There is a valid point to not servicing 2824/2836 movements. But here is why I do it. It is nice to have them as regulated as possible. But more importantly everything is cleaned, dusted and properly sealed against the elements. And other than relume, if appropriate, all the other things are included when it is serviced. IMHO, any watch that you are paying more than $200 deserves a service. The lower cost ones I do nothing. When they die, they die.
  10. Sorry for the bad luck. So far mine have been good. Ziggy will put it right.
  11. iOffer only makes sense if you know and have had good results with a particular dealer. Otherwise it is a bazaar where you are simply making guesses as to who will deliver what.
  12. What are you nuts? That is why we have dealers.
  13. I am pleased to see the air is clearing. The whole RWG watch issue rings true. I was one who did get the RWG watch so I count myself as fortunate. I also was a prize winner in one of the lotteries (never got the prize but don't care) and the person who was supposed to provide the prize was Eric. I couldn't resist and went to old RWG and found the link to Eric's Photo Gallery. Of course it is gone. but I couldn't resist.
  14. IMHO, leather on the 217. Chronozilla needs that big rubber strap.
  15. Congrats. Two great choices. I went the other way and did Chronozilla first. 217 on the way though. Fell in love with my 1950 and decided I wanted it both ways (crownguard that is) . The one thing I will say is that if you have the budget relume the 217. Between the size of the numbers and the hands and the sandwich dial the relume is an awesome upgrade. You end up with a true torch.
  16. Unitas - yes. Asian 7750 - no. When it breaks I replace with Swiss 7750. 2893 - yes. 7753 - no. 28424/2836 - yes.
  17. Now I am confused. On my older 196 and 188 the quick dateset button worked fine. In fact, if I remember correctly, there is no date set function on the crown. Ziggy would know as he recently had them. Is this a function of the other factory's changes when they took over production. I know Chris's version is the new one. Is yours as well, Richard?
  18. We shall see. He still lists the Fourth Generation 1950 and PAM 187 at $0.00. In any case I would rather buy with Asian movement and add in my own movement. I would have a real concern that the Swiss movement is Swiss parts assembled in rep fashion - no quality control. I bet the price of doing it yourself works out to be fairly close that way. It is also a good excuse to get your watch relumed when you send it to one of our esteemed watchsmiths.
  19. IMHO, the color of the gold on the PAM 231 (which doesn't come out until June in the gens) looks really good which is half the battle with gold reps. Also the movement looks pretty darn good too. Of course the blue engraving has to be cleaned up and grayed. What is interesting is as I have been studying the new PAM's I am noticing that different versions of the CDG movement on the gens have different screws blued. The 231 gen has almost all major screws blued. The 217 Destro does not. Anyhow, Eddie these new ones look good. The emergence of new IWC reps is a wonderful development. The GST Chrono set a high standard. I may just have to stray from PAM's for a little bit.
