  1. Wow, I hadn't realized how good they had gotten this rep. Very nice review.
  2. Great minds... Enjoy it. It makes all the difference,
  3. Congrats. Looks great. And now that you have lumed one, you will have to lume them all. The Lume is fabulous on the Sandwich dials.

3 Series. The 120 is a chick car. But if you're planning on dumping the girlfriend anytime sooon - Z4. Otherwise, 3 Series. I just drove the 3 for the first time in a couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know where you live and whether it is available but the new IS from Lexus drives really nicely as well.
  5. I am trying to figure out whether his 7750's are truly ETA and whether they allow for date function at 9. They are priced fairly well. How does he get away with all those Rolex case reproductions?
  6. The only marker that is straight is the "12". Anyone have a call on the dots?
  7. The funny thing is that some gens are not so well lumed and so you can end up with better luminosity than some of the gens. Tough call, eh?
  8. PAM can clarify it himself, but I do know that as of Monday night he was still sorting out orders as I received an email to confirm exactly what I wanted.
  9. Without stitching? Glue? There are plenty of attractive and reasonably priced (read cheap) alternatives. If the issue is that you have a specific piece of leather you would like made into a strap there are folks who will do that as well.
  10. Steve is right that in general ETA movement based watches will be of better quality but you have to bear in mind there is quite a bit of variation. For instance the Asian 7750 Chrono movement comes in an older version which has proven to be very unstable and a newer one that is significantly better. Different models will have the different versions. Similarly, you can get an ETA based GMT watch with either the dedicated 2893 ETA movement with Soprad module which is designed specifically for GMT applications or you can buy, for substantially less, a modified 2836 movement. And different folks have different opinions as to what they like better. In that case there is a $200-300 difference based on which ETA movement you choose. The 2836 is a $50??? movement at most. The 2893 is significantly more expensive. So as you move onto buy reps utilize the resources that are here. A lot of folks here have invested a lot of time to provide you with a wealth of information. That is what makes this place fun. And the best part is that if you are inclined you will make some good friends here along the way.
  11. PAM actually makes "reversed" bridge plates for their 217's. None of the reps have this to the best of my knowledge. Think of it as flipping over the bridge and engraving the other sideinverting the plates. At best, I have found the correct Cotes de Geneve finish but the bridge is either facing the wrong direction relative to the crown guard or the Officine Panerai is "upside down" relative to the 12'oclock position.
  12. You need to be specific on the watch model, who is offering it and what version. This is especially true with Rolexes where there are usually many versions. In general, people have better luck with ETA's but there are Myota movements in watches that are every bit as reliable and well put together as the ETA's. There is also variation within ETA and Asian movements themselves. That is what makes this fun. Decide what you are looking for. Search a little. If you don't find the info on the particular model you are looking for post a specific question.
  13. The last I heard from him was about two weeks ago. He is dealing with the loss of a parent and it affected him very deeply. He was truly down in the dumps and had a number of major issues he had to sort out. He did say he would try and get back online soon but that this was very very difficult time for him. My perception was that he had written to me only out of a sense of responsibility (he has some items of mine). Whether by choice or by force, he was not at that point ready to get back into Watches. As everyone who has known or dealt with Tommy knows, he has alwaways been a man of his word and if he says he will be back I believe him. I got no sense of when though. Of course, we all wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.
  14. Welcome. There is one downside here. I have spent more money on reps than I ever would have on gens. Welcome to the slippery slope...
  15. Now that is a man with his woman trained. Haven't decided what to wear as it is not the weekend here yet. By the way, based on the picture I don't think I would be worried about what watch I was wearing.
  16. Those huge Pre-V buckles are aesthetically awesome but a real pain in the neck. They don't fit in cases pr on watchwinders. But I do love them.
  17. Sennsi- It is a beautiful watch, but have you ever seen a PAM you don't like. Ok. just kidding. That primitive dial looks awesome with the PVD case.
  18. You would think he would have taped over the serial number. That is an original movement assuming the pictures of the back are of the same watch as the pictures of the front.
  19. Wow, even the rep guys are complaining.
  20. It's all good. Welcome!! Great to see you on board.
  21. AP Offshore - my first choice. PAM 194 - And it will come shortly. A good Dewitt would be nice. I have been adniring them in the window lately.
  22. It's all been covered. Crown. re-lume and AR coat available now. Cyclops are in production and will be available. The last obvious issue is datewheel with appropriate font. Finepics is also contemplating doing this.
  23. Thanks man. And yes, I am wearing your MF proudly. A Veni Limited Edition.
  24. Assuming the movement settles in - yes. This looks and feels like a $10,000 watch similar to the way the 7753 196 with old case does. Okay, maybe not $10,000 but, IMHO, well worth it. The finish is truly amazing.
