  1. Go find that perfect Tag. There are any numbers of articles which can help you.
  2. You have found the perfect spot. Enjoy the read. Between all the Rolex fanatics here there are very few projects which have not been tried or gens that are not owned by members.
  3. It may be Fantasy but it is stunning.
  4. Sander isn't doing the work for anyone other than those already in-house. His latest note to folks inquiring says "I will no longer work on watches any more. I will finish the ones I have right now and after that I need a break." So I would say the Sander Zone is closed for now.
  5. So you can see where this is going. A fair number of people here have moved beyond the issue of reps or gens. If you have been playing with watches (rep and gen) for years many tend to migrate to frankens. And when you look on your wrist you are not seeing the watch. You are seeing the project that took you quite some time and effort to assemble. Kind of the opposite of instant gratification.
  6. Marty- When it rains it pours. My condolences on your father. I lost mine many years ago although it impacts all of us differently. On the job front I wish you the best of luck in finding a new (and better one ) quickly. Most importantly, as you can tell you have a whole lot of people rooting for you here.
  7. Yes. But there are certain occasions where I will only where gens or 99% frankens.
  8. What took you so long? Seriously, looks great.
  9. Stunning watch. And if that is a franken it is an all gen franken.
  10. Just look on Ebay. They start at around $1,000 and it will be dependent on the watch it is in and the condition. I believe service runs around $300 but remember that one in really poor condition may not be repairable as not all parts are always available.
  11. All valid points. And I certainly understand why customs risk for $4,000 scares you. Just wanted you to know.
  12. Well, there is only one way to find out because I can promise you know one else has tried it....
  13. I actually asked Jimmy this 2-3 years ago when he was clearing out his inventory and the case and cg manufacturer had disappeared (gone out of business).
  14. Charlie- I have no idea what project was for 2800 euros (and there are no guarantees) but bear in mind that anything being sold for $1500 or more on this forum requires vetting of the seller by the admin team. Unlike Ebay or any other forum we maintain an approved list. Also you can ask the seller for references around here. In any case best of luck with your search.
  15. I am with Freddy. When it comes to ebay I try to stick to well established folks. I focus on bidding on safe items and hope to get better prices just by the luck of who else bids. You are never going to score a Double red for $5,000 but you weren't going to anyhow. The other smart thing you are already doing is check with folks around here when contemplating a large purchase. There are a number of folks with wonderful knowledge and they are usually happy to help.
  16. That would be interesting given that the inner bezel is connected to the secondary crown. I suppose the implication would be that it is easier to accidentally turn the inner bezel when brushing the secondary crown up against something.
  17. That is a good point. I just know that all the ones I have ever seen are "matte". The strap still looks great on that watch. And the funny thing is you know this strap is much better made. I never had the nerve to actually wear a Pre-V strap because they feel so flimsy. Fast forward a couple of years and you come into the Hirsch era and for my money they are the best PAM straps that were ever made.
  18. Don't know the web site but if it sounds too good to be true....The forum goes to a lot of trouble to provide trustworthy dealers. I would utilize one of them. Here are my hints for evaluating new dealers: Hint #1 - Look carefully and if the site is showing gen watches run away. That is usually my first sanity check when contemplating a new dealer Hint #2 - If you are seeing listings for a number of reps no one is offering here they probably don't exist or if they do they are the $10 version Hint #3 - If the prices vary dramatically from the dealers around here (up or down) that is a warning sign. At this point many of the best reps are being authorized by larger dealers so if you are seeing dramatically different prices it is either a different watch or none at all. Finally with the recent dramatic improvements in dealers - investing in gens for better accuracy, providing QC pics, etc. going to the right dealer makes ever more difference- especially in the shady rep world. It is not like a gen where you can buy it anywhere and from anyone (who is legit of course).
  19. Welcome. Always great to see a veteran rep person coming on board. Hopefully you will find useful information over here and contribute as well.
  20. You lost me. Are you talking about an Aquatimer or a 1665. The Aquatimer is both unidirectional and clicks. The clicks are helpful when setting the inner bezel.
