  1. I will start working on "the man" over New Years. Actually I may have to drag in his better half to get this one done.
  2. Now I am curious. What did the watch originally come with. I would love a metal bracelet to change it up.
  3. People prefer the white dial because every other watch they have has a black dial. Seriously, a very beautiful piece. Out of curiousity does the gen movement add some heft to these Portuguese reps. I bought a couple when they first came out and they just felt cheap. I know a lot of people will disagree but it always felt like an $80 rep. I am guessing the proper movement adds some heft. It also could be just me as all my other watches do have more heft and I have never been a Blancpain lightweight guy.
  4. +1 with Don but I have zero confidence in the prediction. These are all ridiculously good frankens or gens. on a wonderful collection.
  5. Trippy holmes, trippy .... Anyone know the movie?
  6. We will work on another one for next year. I just have to guilt a certain "someone" into going.
  7. Congrats. Can't wait to see pics. And congrats on the "reconnection".
  8. Why thanks. And you are right on the 188 - it has been subsquently frankified. At this point the 196 went off to another forum member and the remaining collection is down to the 188, 162 and a Panda with beautifully redone sub-dials from Ziggy. Here is the Panda: Gen for comparison: Why thanks. And you are right on the 188 - it has been subsquently frankified. 9. Congrats on the waterproof camera(and the waterproof watch). Here is my 04 going for a swim the day I received my waterproof camera.
  10. Nothing better than group help. Looking forward to the pics.
  11. Been a long time since I thought about that one. It was and is a good rep. On the gen dials they do come up on ebay from time to time. I think I bought 3-4 a few years ago with a partner. I think they were $300-400 a piece at the time. Hey TX, did you get that dial from me and Arch? My partner on that project disappeared but it may be time to build another one. I think I have one dial left.
  12. I think it looks great. Wear that one well.
  13. Clearly you are in the "gotta have them all" phase (that reference for those folks with kids who have gone through the Pokemon phase). Congrats on going through all those watches and only being out 400 Euros. I suspect you will settle down to a core group of watches. I started with a half dozen gens, morphed up to almost 50 reps in various forms of franken a few years ago and finally settled down to 20 or so core watches. Okay, maybe 25.....
  14. Great comparison and we look forward to the finished build.
  15. Escaped the Northeast snowstorm and sitting in "frozen" Florida. Only two watches with me this week so this will be my last wrist check in 2010. The Fiddy: And the Ubi 5514:
  16. Thanks for the update. There are so many BB versions now and upgrades available it is mind boggling. I assume the gen Ice Bang uses tungsten on the bezel and indices? Is that the case on the caseback as well or is that supposed to be titanium? Can't wait to see this one on someone's wrist. It will be interesting to see whether gen parts actually fit. There is definitely a continuing trend toward making the initial rep more accurate but sacrificing gen part interchangeability. This may be another example. Of course their mission is to make it as accurate as possible rather than ensuring that gen parts actually fit. It never ceases to amaze me how the dealers and manufacturers have been upping their game over the last 8-12 months.
  17. I have good luck with the ones from the Australian seller and they are the right size. No strippage issues on my end but I don't change up my straps often on them.
  18. Great pics and a great rep.
  19. Looks great on the bracelet. I am a fan of the older bracelets as well.
  20. I was wondering who was going to build this one. Congrats on a one-of-a-kind piece.
  21. Life is a cycle.I haven't dreamt cars in quite a while having rocked an E39, Ford Expedition and a bunch of kids for years. I did finally get a nice sedan this year but 10 years from now when the kids are through college I would love to get an 86 Whale Tail porsche. The sad part is I had one when they were new. I guess I would have to call it a mid-life Auto crisis.
