  1. Ah, excellent, that's the information I'm looking for chris5264 !! , thanks a lot and thanks Pug for the image, I've removed the bridge on my dead movement to find out how it worked but never guessed that could be messed up. I'll replace them and see what the outcome is. Thanks guys! **edit** Problem solved! changing the gears did indeed solve the problem.! great help guys, thanks
  2. Having more than one watch means there is always a watch not used for some time, well, my Seamaster has been on my ignore list for quite some time and I do apologise for that.... got that off my chest allright. Anyway, to the point, when a watch hasn't been worn for some time I usually manually wind it a couple of times and then use it for the day or two. Never had problems with that, only for some dark reason the ETA 2824 in my Seamaster is no longer happy with that; Every time I wind it manually I 'drive' the rotor, meaning the rotor spins like a maniac while winding... It still keeps good time though.. I have a dead 2824 lying around but that is winding OK without spinning the rotor.. Anyone have a good idea where to look.? keyless works, some gear assy ..? thanks in advance
  3. True and history tells it not the most reliable movement out there but so far it hasn't let me down and I have it for about 10 months now.. knock on wood.. Off topic, Anyone know how to brush the center bit of the caseback.? The genuine has the center part of the caseback nicely brushed whereas the rep has it all polished, still trying to figure out how to do this, the challange is to make it perfect round Any brilliant ideas.?
  4. Thanks all for the kind comments, I'm a happy bunny right now, it really paid off and was well worth the trouble.! Coating was done by an optician, not sure it's the same MIL spec coating Chieftang is using, but it sure is durable. I let him make a sample and tried to remove the coating afterwards, only extensive grinding with sandpaper could remove the coating so I'm not worried.. another surprise was that it doesn't have the lip marks so no uncoated areas @ FxrAndy: In the latest Miami Vice movie (not worth watching IMHO) there was some product placement and IWC released a special edition, nothing special, just a new caseback. thanks sql_pl you beat me answering
  5. good point, don't want to call it a flaw though, but an easy fix for sure !
  6. Since AR coating service is introduced to the rep community we've seen some impressive projects posted here.. Sadly not a single post of an AR coated Portuguese out there, must be the dodgy movement so nobody cared to 'upgrade' their Portu, maybe it's less popular because of the beautiful Ingy's and Pilot's out there..who knows. All I know is when I had a genuine on my wrist last month I was amazed how the simple and plain dial 'popped' out, only then I discovered how detailed the dial actually is and it's simplicity and beauty really sets new standards.. So, having a perfect running Portu (lucky me) I send the crystal for an AR treatment..... Well judge for yourself.... A love couple Thanks for looking
  7. Don't know, still waitng for a mousemat or USB keyring , But indeed, there are some "nice" goodies send along our straps :-)
  8. Just received new leathers for my 201A Hmmmm  Strap Culture So I'll be "wearing in" this for the weekend
  9. Thanks for wanting me to want one Excellent review docblackrock, gives me a lot more confidence to get one and drop another mail @ ms. King won't take long before someone mentiones a groupbuy
  10. ...that...is... I just wet myself
  11. I'd say Gen, based on the nice and thick crown and small "Officine Panerai" print on the bridges. Are you sure these are pictures from the watch he's selling and no 'borrowed' pics.?
  12. This smiled at me this morning.... and I smiled back Mods: Gen Valjoux7750 and gen Carrera racing strap
  13. Fair enough, I'm sure more pics will show up with the final answer, I'll check at the local AD this weekend so I'l have my answer in a few days As for my avatar... never seen an addictive TV series like this, can't wait for S4 to start :-)
  14. Chieftang won't find many AquaRacer crystals in his mailbox, 'cuz there is no AR on the gen.. at least, haven't found any proof on the TZ postings yet. Here's another one, no blueish tint whatsoever. Oh, and By-Tor, look, another misaligned datewheel
  15. Hard to tell indeed without having one in your hand, images from TZ show no obvious AR on the gen.. AquaRacer on TZ
  16. Not sure , check these images, looks raised to me..
  17. Excellent find ! great reference
  18. If you're not taking it, I'll have it Not sure what the street value is for this model second hand Carrera, check the Bay for reference. Tag's do tend to depreciate quickly depending on model. Monaco's, Monza's and Carrera's from the Heuer era will hold their value a little longer than the 'modern' models. If it looks good and fits your wallet, go for it, it's a great watch.. ... Or....... don't spend $800 on an excellent genuine Tag but on a gold plated Hublot Big Bang with a questionable (read:crappy) movement and other undocumented quality issue's
  19. Dial size is 32mm for the 42mmPO. What kind of dial you're looking for. ? I have a spare lying around -orange- I'm willing to let go. -Verbal
  20. Oh man, just wait untill you get the full package done, you'll be in for a surprise :Jumpy: What a good datewheel design and AR coating can do..: No wait, it's my genuine.....or not.... yes it is..... $hit , I forgot ... aaargh you tell me
