  1. Thanks , but I do feel stupid, I've had some practice on an old 3rd gen PO which went fine, but then again, these hands are a bit bigger. I think I'll stress my bank account some more and go for a new GST and keep the parts for spare.. Anyone experienced enough to help me out on the next attempt.?
  2. The plan: Buy a genuine ETA 7750 from the Bay and replace it with my -allmost dead- Asian 7750. Seems to be such a simple plan, the movements are interchangable so it could be a walk in the park for a not so well educated watchsmith like myself... The theory: Unscrew caseback, remove stem, remove movement, remove hands, remove dial, swap datewheels, place dial, place hands, put it all together, shoot some pictures and show off on RWG.. The practice: The caseback and stem were easy, getting the movement out even more, getting the hands off isn't that hard...... unless..... one of the chrono hands is too tight and the damn thing simply breaks in two.... At that point I wished I'd never tried.. The result: I'm left with perfectly fine Ti case with a perfectly fine Ti Bracelet and a Useless movement .... I'll just go cry for a while and put myself together after a few drinks....
  3. Damn, By-Thor, you just forced me to go out and buy another Tag.... I was on the fence for quite some time but I guess PT is sending another one tonight. Maybe I'll even upgrade it with this movement from the Bay
  4. He's not selling as being genuine, but he sure does make quite some profit : on 'sale' for a mere 299 Euro's (USD 378) Sure hope he's not a boardmember
  5. Why wait, Paul has it on sale at the moment.
  6. ..take the bridge of and Asian copy 6497 manual wind and put it in an ETA 6497 ?? My -ultimate favorite- 111H is breaking up and I want to buy another ETA version of the 111H but the font and "plugs" on the ETA bridge bug me..
  7. Thanks for the info but yes I have, if you look closely, there are two 'notches' (or whatever they are called) stamped into the divers extension, mine practically doesn't have these notches so it just folds together without locking it... @ rocket754 I have indeed read the posting on TRC about replacing the clasp on a 3rd gen bracelet, but therey are different from the 4th gen, hence the question.
  8. The engraving is fine, it's mainly the divers extension bit, the finish is very poor, mechanical scratches, and it doesn't 'snap' and hold into place. I've tried to fit the 3rd version clasp which was slightly better but that won't fit either. Even the different parts of the clasp aren't interchangable...
  9. Has someone actually tried to fit the genuine clasp,?? I know it has been done before on the 3rd version, but there are some differences on the bracelets between 3rd and 4th. The clasp on Pauls 4th was real bad so I tried to fit the 3rd gen clasp on a 4th gen bracelet and it won't fit. I'm on the fence of getting it from Ofrei but am not sure if it'll fit.
  10. I have both TTK's 3rd version and Pauls 4th version and the chrystal on Pauls is much much much better and less reflecting as the 3rd version. There is no purple AR coating as seen in early swiss Panerai or the Breitling reps but it sure is not as reflecting as a Panerai chrystal with a date mag. See for youself : Pauls PO Sure thing, the angle is right but still, little reflections
  11. Have a look at Pauls' site: Monza
  12. I just did knowing it has the "cheaper" movement. Why.? Because I love the looks of this watch despite the movement. If the overall look and feel is good, it's worth the $269, problem is, I can only tell if it's worth it when it's on my wrist, untill then , I trust Eddie and the reviews I've read. When will I ever stop buying
  13. Oh, and Bob, while you're at it chasing V's strap, could you please please please please please find me this in 22x22mm:
  14. Same story here; got tracking info this morning for a 4th Gen. PO.. At least it's a start.... If it eventually gets here, Hmmm, still not sure if this will be the first-out-of-many purchases. Will wait and see how the cookie crumbles.
  15. Believe it or not but he also brought a few friends to convince them.. They ended up paying for the 40 bucks and filed a complaint at the travel agency. Guess what, they weren't the first... We went there in '98, maybe things have changed by now but this experience was more then enough
  16. Then we've probably stayed in the same place. Horrible place. -Weather indeed is great -Since my wife is a blonde, she got all the attention and not in a positive way I mean. -While shopping around, our 2 year old was pulled out of my arms " ah lovely baby" by a shopholder and ran off into his shop. We had to follow and he persisted on buying some of his stuf "ah you in my shop, you now buy something" . -Don't rent a bike or car, they have different number plates for rentals and people actually aim at you while driving so they can claim for insurance. -wath out for the food and ice cubes in you drinks, we still sufferd from food poisining a week after we returned -Don't leave your luggage at the Hotel reception, ours got stolen.. They "found" them the day after we'd left.Bags returned with only our clothes, all other values were gone... Tunisia.... Oh, another horror story from a colleague of mine, he went on a desert trip to see an oasis and halfway the driver got out of the bus and demanded that everyone in the bus paid $40 or else he would leave the bus in the middle of the desert... It was a prepaid trip..... Anyway, enjoy your stay. Sorry, nothing but bad news
  17. Well, I quess the search is over , it's already repped !! I think the sub dial spacing is a little off, but hardly anyone will notice New Omega Chrono I guess I'll wait for Eddie's version
