Not to derail too much but, Dadog - which dealer is selling cheap version for $90? Does it have the ceramic bezel? I looked on other forums and couldn't find anything except Narikaa's which does not have the ceramic bezel.
-
I missed out on this opportunity too, and am optimistic there will be more available, it just makes economic sense for dealers/rep makers, so I'm not obsessing. I just love that ceramic bezel, gives the watch a whole new dimension.

New good-looking vintage Daytona on Watchonpo site?
rek001 replied to rek001's topic in The Rolex Area
@ Taka Wowee, I had no idea...I read somewhere if you want to convert yen to USD you take off the last three zeros, which would make it $350 USD, guess I was wrong. Too bad... exquisite watch. @ Freddy Thanks for bringing these photos in, it certainly is a gorgeous piece, no? Well, at least we can all drool over these nice close up pics. -
After Takashi was nice enough to give me Watchonpo's new URL I went there and found this vintage Daytona: http://www.etayahonpo.jp/?pic=8058236 I am no expert but it looks pretty good to me, and it appears to have the assymetrical pushers. Maybe this will be avaialable to us in the near future? What say the experts?

Anyone know the new URL for Watchonpo please?
rek001 replied to rek001's topic in General Discussion
Is that really true? It was my impression that the very few who managed to get unique pieces from Watchonpo got what was advertised in their photos. -

Thanks much, Taka! -
I just tried the old URL for Watchonpo - www.shopping e-convenient etc, and it takes me to some gateway for japanese business, I can't seem to find Watchonpo site there. I like to browse Watchonpo occasionally just to see if they have anything unique...sometimes they do. Thanks much!

Palpatine - an incredible, amazing member. I so enjoyed viewing his work, and the effort that went into it - breathtaking. I hope he is doing well in his personal life. Thank you very much, By-tor for bringing back this memory.

Beautiful, clean, classic elegant design - just perfect. Superb photo too, By-tor. OK, I need one. I'll take a risk here - which dealer has a decent one?

How to successfully re-paint bezel markings?
rek001 replied to rek001's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Actually, now that I think of it - I'm slighting it, at least its quartz chrono movement won't crap out after 6 months... -

Thanks for the tip, Freddy, I may try it. However, I wouldn't consider an Invicta Speedway a "quality rep" LOL. -

@carlsbad and freddy Thank you both for your excellent suggestions! Although I think I will try carlsbad's approach, I don't know how to remove the bezel. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again. -
Yes, Lauren's Rolex, Pam and car collectiosn make me weep with envy.

OK, here's my .02 on quartz chronos. One of my favorite rep watches these days is a Seamaster chrono I got from tonyxkf at cqout. It's powered by the japanese working chrono quartz movement, I am amazed at how accurate and perfectly the chrono counters re-set, and I can play with it all day long and not worry about the movement breaking. Also, the fit & finish is supposedly "swiss case"- they used the same case & bracelet as the $300 asian 7750. I dunno about this but the watch looks and feels wonderful. All this for $92 shipped from his cqout shop. Now I haven't bought from him lately on his website, I know his prices haave gone up but I believe you can negotiate down with him nicely. So, why not pick up a quartz Bentley or 2 from cqout or ioffer? Just do your homework, study dealers pix carefully for accuracy, ask the right questions, and pick a dealer with good feedback. That's what I've been doing, it's been a lot of fun finding some very nice watches for under $100.

I think it says "swish made" on the dial.

The interesting part is that he's waaaay into the vintages, his collection is legendary, you'd think the mannequin would be sporting a Bond Sub or something.

Hi, I Have an Invicta Speedway (Daytona style) and the black fill-in of the markings on the steel bezel have pretty much worn away. I would like to fill them in again, but, in thinking about how to do this, I'm not very sure. I'm afraid I will make a permannet mess of it and not be able to correct it. Can anyone advise me - what type of paint to use, best way to get the paint into the markings, and most importantly, how to wipe off the excess cleanly without wiping off the paint in the markings? In advance, I thank you very much.

Vric, so you finally got it! It's beautiful, eh? And Homer is the best, 2 straps and a nice box also. Wear it in good health.

Meeting the President of Breitling this evening.

I'm jealous, I love going to these types of things. When you try on the BCE, rememeber not ask if it's the ultimate version. -
I asked Joshua about this a few months ago and he said yes, but it's in a very early stage, so who knows if and when the improved movement will come out.

Noble thought, this comes up every so often, nothing ever comes of it. Sorry if I sound cynical, I've been on the boards for 4.5 years. Closest we came was during the "great white lies" thread begun by Pugwash and it was 15 + pages of bluster with no clear consensus. How can you organize the internet anyway? You have so many people showing up with such disparate agendas and circumstances. The many noobs showing up here every day who are so happy to find this place and, in their euphoria, are happy to pay the high prices and ignore the QC problems because they're so hungry to have a collection and have no idea what hassles are involved. The old timers have had their fill, being lucky enough to buy during the so called golden age. Have you noticed the uptick in gen watch posts lately? Again, commendable attitude on your part, I wish you much luck on this.

You have a great sense of humor, Juan. I'm not into SDs but I really enjoyed your review, you have a nice way with words. Enjoy your kit & watch!

Very nice review, and the lighter is beautiful and elegant. I quit smoking 17 years ago but what I miss most is the wonderful ritual of lighting the cigarette with a beautiful lighter, sigh.

This is my favorite modern Daytona, so elegant and luminous. I just wish I had the courage to try the secs @ 6. Enjoy your watch!
