  1. I really love this style Daytona - the 2005 limited edition I guess it's called. My favorite of the modern Daytonas. But I'm not willing to risk $300 to this new collector, the pricing does not make sense. And you are right freddy about its looks, unfortunately I've seen much nicer versions of this Daytona.
  2. I ran across this on TRC also and something doesn't seem right - doesn't the movement alone cost $300? How can he offer this for so cheap, the least expensive rep Daytona swiss movement I've seen offered by a collector was for $600. Also the number indices should be dark, not silver.
  3. Unfortunately the instant gratification urge never takes a holiday.
  4. I love vivsiting Manhattan, what a city. Did you go to all the watch shops ?
  5. Vic, I'd stay away from the modern Daytonas, the movement is too unstable. I'd also suggest a vintage Daytona with the manual wind movement - beautiful, elegant, rare design, super-reliable movement and the 37mm case size should fit your wrist impeccably. I think I'm going to get one after elpremirozen's review.
  6. Thanks much for the review, Pugs. Very informative. Would you please comment on the PVD coating? It seems a bit thin.
  7. I'd love to read your travelogue,TeevTee's from a few years was so interesting - I still have this image in my mind of a solid block of steel bracelets 3 foot tall all wrapped up in plastic, crazy. Have a great trip and I hope all goes well for you.
  8. Well, how often would you wear your gold watch? If you wore it every day as your daily beater then I coud see the gold plate coming off. Myself, I have a gorgeous MBW TT Sub, over 2 years old that I wear when I go out sometimes, fancier occasion, and the gold looks like new.
  9. Thansk you fro the info, I like this one a lot and won't be too big on my slim wrist.
  10. Forgot to ask - is this asian 7750 with 40mm case or manual wind with 37mm case? If it is manual wind, is the case really 37mm? That is small.
  11. very nice! What is the case size please?
  12. I'll tell you who has gone down in Chicago- Smart Jewellers in Lincolnwood. They had an overnight heist a few years ago and now they have a lot more under $500 watches than they used to. There's this one younger salesman, owner's son I think, who doesn't like me, goes out of his way to ignore me when I walk in, I guess he's shown me watches one to many times without me buying anything, but so what. I don't go there anymore, not worth it.
  13. That is a very beautiful watch - elegant, functional, superb proportions. I know it's not very accurate to gen but who so what, as long as you enjoy.
  14. I believe there is a german replica board that is by invite only, Maria hangs out there. Anyone else know of this? Also, have you seen Tanfo's insane Rolex collection? He has some custom pieces there that he says he got from Maria.
  15. Not to get Mens' Vogue-y here, but, gold and black sport watches are very in right now, look at the latest issues of all the watch magazines, they are full of glossy photos of gorgeous watches with gold/rose gold cases and black dials. I think tey're great, a nice departure from steel.
  16. My pleasure, I hope you like it.
  17. Wow, my two favorite cocktails - Manhattan and Sidecar. I'm impressed with the Sidecar mention, it's so obscure. I really enjoy making cocktails at home for friends, makes me feel very urbane and gracious I always try to use fresh squeezed lemon juice in my cocktails really makes a difference. tmg, if you want to try something a bit different, substitute gin for the cognac in your Sidecar, I think it's really good and tangy.
  18. TTK has that sort of effect sometimes....
  19. In Joshua's photos, the end links fit nice and tight against the case, which is not always the situation when looking at Datejusts.
  20. It's an interesting timepiece - different, not my cupa tea though. Only thing bothers me, the case is so thick, prolly to accommodate the complications?
  21. Those sound like the ends of split pins in the Seamaster, should be able to push them out.
  22. Tribal, how is Maria these days now that the secret source has been discovered? Does Maria still do custom orders?
  23. The stuff we put up with owning reps...sigh.
  24. Really, really nice watches Freddy. You should be proud. Great story about the restaurant too.
  25. I spoke to Tony last night and he said that his offers will be back up on cqout in a few days, with updated descriptions. The interesting part is that his payment options will not include PayPal anymore, so draw the obvious conclusion as to what happened. I still can't get over the quality of the watches I've acquired from Tony, I'm so glad I found him.
