Ssurfer, I am very sorry for your loss, pets have a unique place in our lives. I have a 17 year old cat named Lucy, quite the personality, I know what you must be going through.

OK, I'll play - this is an old one, what about the valley girl inflection, raising one's voice at the end of a sentence so it sounds like a question? You know, the OMG! syndrome? Lately I've had to go see a few specialists for a medical problem, a few turned out to be quite young and female, and it's disconcerting to have someone discuss your problem with you and feel like you are talking to a sorority girl. It seems that this way of speaking has infiltrated the professional world. I've heard some young guys talk like this but, it seems to be a mostly female dysfunction.

I dunno if this is appropriate but, on average, how much lower are Hont's prices compared to the rest?

Congrats! How's the bracelet? I tried on the gen at AD a few days ago and was VERY impressed with it. The bracelet was incredible - made up of many small links that just bent and flowed with the curvature of the wrist, I wonder how well they duplicated it. Also, the gen comes with 3 year warranty, makes me think about getting one.

Oh God, such wonderful memories. EL was the finest, no one who came after him could even compare. And Sunshine300 sounds right. Didn't he collect tea sets? Also, I believe he was in medical supply sales and one time donated some HIV testing kits to one of his clients in some under-developed country. Eddie, I hope you are doing well and if you are around, please let us know.

Wow, a coincidence - I tried one on at lunchtime today, while looking for a Skyland so I could see if I could wear it. The AD had very little stock, no Skylands but they did have the Ti Avenger. I asked sales lady if it was similar dimension to the Skyland, she had no idea, actually she had no idea about all the other questions I asked too, sheesh. Anyway, I was absolutely struck by the lightness and comfort of the Ti on such a massive watch, too bad I dislike Ti, looks like plastic. The good news for me is that it looks like I could wear a Skyland and it wouln't look stupid, bad news I think it will be too heavy to be comfortable. Guess I better start liking Ti.

Considering the Skyland but it may be too big for me?

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Forearm size matters too (I know this sounds silly, but true) and I have skinny forearms, I'm a girl. Actually, I think photos indicate how the watch looks on the wrist in reality, as opposed to our perceptions, as when we talk ouselves into a watch that is clearly too big for us, just my IMO. I'll let you know what I think after visit to AD. Thanks again! -

Thanks for photos, Rocky. In looking at them, I'm beginning to think that 7" wrist is minimum size for this watch to look OK, it is truly massive. I'm going to try one on at AD but I really think it will be too big for me. Shame. -
Haven't seen it yet but, Illinois possibly? It was filmed in Chicago, some scenes shot right across the street from my office, at the Old Post Office building.

Hmm, it sounds like the weight of it may be an issue. When I got my BCE I thought "holy moly, this is prob my heaviest watch", but I wear it all the time now and I don't even notice it. Does the Skyland weight a lot more than the BCE? -

UB7, thanks for the great comparo pics, I'm pleasantly surprised, it really is not much bigger than the Evo. And yaron, thanks for your comments, I am concerned about the thickness and weight. Why do thesse watches have to be so darn heavy and thick, anyway? -

Thanks for replies, guys. I don't have an SFO, but I do have a BCE and it pretty much fills up my wrist, but it is comfortable and I love it. I have a few 44mm Pam and I wear them proudly. A trip to Tourneau is in order, I have one in my city, then I will make my decision. I hope I can wear it. -

So the SFO would be comparable in diameter and thickness you think? -
Hi all, hope you are having a nice weekend. So I've goten caught up in all the hype over this watch, and it does look beautifully constructed. I'm afraid though that it may be too big for my 6.5" wrist, which is also narrow and deep. What say you? Thanks!

I'm buying the acetone .. so if can... can ... if no can ... no can....... gotta understand local slang to get that one..

Just imagining what these dealers were thinking about you when you kept insisting you wanted a quartz Sub, makes me laugh. A really fun read, John, thanks! Your writing skills are superb, are you a journalist?

The hour indices of the double red are awfully yellow.

OK, I'm sold. Anyone care to give me a few pointers on the best way to start a vintage GMT project, please?

Very tight/stuck screws in a bracelet
rek001 replied to DemonSlayer's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I've used Liquid Wrench, quite successfully. Soak the offending screw and part of the bracelet overnight, then the next day tap it with the screwdriver blade tip, then slowly but forcefully turn the screw, it usually comes out for me. -
It looks pretty good, but, it is a faux chronograph, does not have a true chronograph movement, that would bother me.

Test: Panerai Luminor Daylight Chrono 196
rek001 replied to Seadweller4000's topic in The Panerai Area
Superb review, very good info, thank you! At risk of sounding stupid - you mentioned replacing the rotor? What type of rotor and how would that help? Thanks! -
Thanks much for the info, Pix. I look forward to your review of the IWC, personally I'm having a lot of fun looking at ioffer and cqout for high quality yet inexpensive watches, sure beats agonizing over spending $400 on the latest offers.

Very nice watch and photos, Pix. Excellent fit and finish. I have an Omega Seamaster quartz chrono from tonyxkf that also has the supposed "swiss case" and bracelet, I am also quite charmed by its quality and relaibility, best part I paid a charming $85 for it! May I ask, from which dealer are getting your IWC, and where did you see the Corum A.C.?

After all, aren't watches truly functional jewelry, isn't that why we have som many different styles in our collections? Wear it however and whenever your mood suits you - just please don't wear it bangle bracelet loose I find that to be a very self-conscious, affected look and besides, your gorgeous watch will get banged up and scratched that way.
