  1. This appears to be the Daytona with seconds running at 6, and the longevity of the movement is questionable. The added gears to this movement puts an additional strain on it, and the movement my give out prematurely.
  2. The Daylight chrono - so you'r e going with the inferior case?
  3. Wow, that really sucks, Admin. The Breguet loss is such a shame, but be glad you weren't hurt or killed.
  4. I am sorry to hear about your Casey. Sometimes life throws the hard decisions your way, you did the right thing for him. You didn't let him suffer. Life goes on, and it will get easier to remember Casey with fondness. My condolences to you and your family.
  5. Very, very nice. The presentation box is a nice touch. I am curious about the pricing also. I've talked to Sean a few times about some of his watches and I've found his pricing to be somewhat high, enough so that I've never bought from him.
  6. A real shame this happened, toilet paper and a plain paper envelope? Wow, someone really can't be bothered to do it right. I'd be very upset about this. Send it to The Zigmeister, and the seller needs to pay for the repair and all the shipping charges. I just hope The Zigmeister can fix it.
  7. Very interesting thread. It seems that we're always looking for the best available, I guess that's just human nature. Especially since some of the reps have come so close to being perfect - and yet, not quite there. I myself am now intrigued with watchmaker9's offerings, the few people who have acquired them say they are in a league of their own. Another legend in the making - like MBW?
  8. Eddie, can you give us some more information about the differencees between Watchmaker9's and our dealers Subs? Thanks!
  9. What Randy said. I was going to try a local watchsmith to service an asian Daytona and after some thought I decided that I'd rather wait for The Zigmeister to come back in September than try to explain to my watchmaker about all the potential problems sevicing a rep. I tried that once with another rep and my watchsmith thought I was over-exaggerating. I politely left his shop without leaving the rep to service. Too risky.
  10. Yes, that's George. Check him out on TRC, he just said there this is his new website, he is a very good guy. Who this watchmaker9 is, I don't know but his pricing is crazy.
  11. A long time ago George (the real MBW dealer) had a photo website that contained the words "watches-photogallery" I don't rememeber the rest. This watchmaker 9 is not the same George who sells MBW. MBW George would NEVER refer to his watches as Grade A+++, he is a very cool and low key type of guy.
  12. I've thought about taking my asian 7750 Daytona in to a local watchmaker who seemed willing to work on reps. After some thought and hesitation, I decided it would not be a good idea, for the exact reasons The Zigmeister states. I was afraid things might go wrong and the watchmaker would run into problems that he couln't handle.
  13. How about the quality of the current 196 case? Is the bezel angle wrong, lighter weight case, lugs not properly shaped, that's what I have heard.
  14. Just wondering, so do you guys think this new GMT will drive down the re-sale value of the 2893 engine 029 and 063s?
  15. Um, I dunno, looks like a very pretty woman to me. This is the first believable tranny I've ever seen, if that's what she is. All of the ones I've ever seen really do look like a man in drag, not very convincing at all. If she/he is a transexual, my compliments.
  16. Watchonpo's price is approx. $350, not bad really.
  17. Nah, people have met Eddie for beers (not myself) and he's not a girl. So Eddie, what exactly are you confessing to?
  18. I didn't care for the dial of the GMT very much - up until now. That is one gorgeous watch, especially Neils blue dial. But, with such a complicated movement, I wonder how stable the movement will be? Every time they try to copy a movement with compications, there are problems.
  19. I'm going through the same thing right now - I want a Pam with some addtional functions and I've agonized between the GMT and the Power Reserve. I know I'll get slammed for this bigtime but the GMT dial is just too busy for me - too many tiny markers around the periphery of the dial, the dial design is too fussy for a Pam. I don't care for the GMT with the 24 hr markers on the bezel, but that dial is not as busy. I am getting the power reserve with the indicator at 4 o'clock. I think the dial layout is very nicely balanced with the seconds at 9 and the PR indicator at 4.
  20. That's a very beautiful watch, Neil. The dial color is so much richer and more interesting than the matte black of the usual Pams.
  21. Well, there goes my plan to acquire a swiss 196 Daylight. Real shame
  22. So should the new improved asian 7750 should still be serviced? I would assume that small metal filings are not a good thing to have in the movement, albeit not as bad as large chunks?
  23. Hey The Zigmeister, it's great to have you checking in again - your amazing knowledge and common sense have been sorely missed around here.
  24. Josh's watchsmith charges $150 for asian 7750 pre-service and waterproofing. Right now I am seriously contemplating ordering Josh's 196 Daylight asian 7750 with this package.
