  1. Is the pearl totally off or is that the picture? Is a bezel swap possible on a 21j model?
  2. The movement doesn't "hack," so running while you set time is normal.
  3. Just buy a gen for $65 spendsmartstores.com

  5. If you like subs check out the 87 FS on the board, or the 252, which is very underrated.
  6. --- 2geek took care of this.
  7. DISREGARD. 2geek has made everything right. In fact, this thread can be binned, deleted or whatever.
  8. Very nice, but I though the 25D had the 7mm cyclops? And if you find a decent A-F Ti CG anywhere, let me know.
  9. I have a 252 from Josh. Other than the DW, dental floss mod and the usual CG issue, it's pretty spot on. I think I'll put a 2G or Leo DW in it and call it done.
  10. The 89 does not have a swanneck. It hass an A7750. It is both heavier and quieter than the Ti handwinds I've had. If well serviced, the A7750 in an 89 should be much quieter than an SS with a 6497, particularly an A6497 with a display back. The CG thing is an issue, though. I found a nice cartel ultimate CG that I converted with substantial mods into a very good A-F CG (mine is an 89e). But there truly are not a lot of good Ti CG options.
  11. I've had both. The 88 silver dial bugs me a little, too, because it kind of clashes with the shiny SS case. And it's hard to get the right shade of silver. The 89 dial, with the cool vertical anthracite pattern, is more interesting. And the black subdial just goes better IMHO. It's a much more subdued and elegant look. I kept the 89 and sold the 88. On the other hand, when Vac lumed my 89, I had him use more C1 than the gen. The gen lume really pops out on the anthracite dial - looks bright slime green. I don't care for it. The gen lume on the 88's black dial doesn't do that as bad. The 29 is nice, but I've only seen two reps with the correct number font on the bezel. The gen bezel numbers are very stretched horizontally -wide numbers. The reps aren't. If that doesn't bug you, then it's a good choice.
  12. Beer cooler. Empty for a reason.
  13. If you're concerned about the dessicant, buy a tub of Damp-Rid at Target. Much better than regular silica dessicant at absorbing water. Comes in sealed packets so you don't have to worry about contaminating the watch. Here's what works for me. Get a packet of Damp-Rid and a tupperware container about 2x the size of the packet. Place the watch and Damp-Rid in the Tupperware with Damp-Rid on bottom and watch upside down with case back unscrewed but siting on it. Seal the Tupperware up. The Tupperware limits the amount of humidity the Damp-Rid must remove fro the air, which will collect below the packet if it collects at all. Place the whole thing in your car and park it outside in the sun. It should get pretty hot, which speeds up the process. Here in Dallas it may get hotter than the sun. This dried out my old 112 which fell into icewater without the case back.
  14. Assuming it fits, how hard is it to switch out the bezel? Never tried that.
  15. W0lf, Do you think there's any chance the 199 cartel crystal fits the 24a DSN case? Wouldn't that be easier than switching bezels? Or does the cartel 199 have enough better case shape?
  16. Is that something that can be fixed by the tube that you can get with T's SL crowns?
  17. Huh. I've seen a 24F with an L dial. Was that some sort of factory replacement deal?
  18. Biggest additional flaw on the 24D is the rings around the markers. That didn't come until F series. Some of the Fs had T-dials (transitional year), so other than the caseback it would be correct for a 24F.

I did not know Panerai made watches for the S&M crowd. Love that grey croc strap!
  20. I wish there was a way to make this your screen background and lock screen
  21. Ok, I need one of these but can't find it on Josh's site. Also, does it have the low or high beat movement? I found one on Angus' site that looks similar, but it looks to have a low beat.
  22. That was really sad. It makes me laugh that we care about things like text being 1/32 of a cm too low when most of those guys didn't even notice the horrible pearl on a $100 21j rep. Then they all praised it as a "helluva fake." Dont know why houndoggie bothered to try to teach them.
  23. That case I did is actually a lot blacker than it looks in pics. It's much darker than the DLC on my v2 Blacksteel, and just a little lighter than DSN PVD. Except for the really shiny parts (like the CG pin), it looks a lot like the well-aged PVD case projectologist showed earlier in the thread. Although the cape cod is a polishing cloth, it took a lot of the shine off when I went in circles followed by straight with the grain. Before I started it looked like you painted it darkest black, dipped it in hi-gloss varnish, then waxed with car wax. Here's the whole thread to show the before and after, and the comparison of the before to a cheapie iOffer 28 that had very nice real matte PVD on it. http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?p=756558#post756558
  24. My Ingy has a 2836 in it, so I'm thinking others do to. For us, the overlay is probably the only hope as the gen and lello DWs won't fit.
