I start to learn and work in watches for fun using TZ. No, it's not as easy as the tutorial show it. There is a lot of small part in there and you really need to develop skills. But I think the first thing is to forget the fear. Yes, you will break something. Yes, you will loose that damn small spring. If you aren't ready to break something, pass hours to fix it and pay for extra parts, then forget it. I'm about at 97% of completing my first PAM which I assembled completely from scratch as a learning project (striped the movement, cleaned, serviced, assembling) and yesterday I broke the stem. The last thing I had to do before putting back the crown guard and enjoying my watch. This is sometime frustrating, but it's part of the game.

I did my first class with a 6497 Movement.. A bit easier and you can use it in a PAM if you wish Else.. well Ofrei

I have ordered parts from him (case, dial and hands) and the dial (111h style) was badly aligned, making the second pinion to touch the dial and stop the movement. I'm waiting for a replacement... (hope this time it will work.. I use a real swiss 6497)

Homer RG/Black Dial.. Still waiting for shipping confirmation not quite a fan of the regulator design. (you love or hate it I guess ) Still a very nice looking watch, and great looking movement

Depend if your local watchsmith want to work on rep.. but yea.. It's a quite easy movement to work with.

Agreed. We, the community here and on other forum, are only a very small part of people buying reps. Even if we stop buying, nothing would change.

keyless works problem simple fix, but you have to remove the hands and dial..

So far, I have been lucky I guess. I had one watch with QC issue (was from TTK and better forget this story) and one 7750 DOA.. All my others (only 14 watches bought) came fine without any problem that would suggest a bad QC. I guess it's just luck, since I have used a lot of dealer (never got more than 2 from the same dealer)

This rule change every months or what ? Isn't it: Don't change the date between 10PM and 2AM ?? Have a link about that ?! Anyway, I always star my auto watch with 10 to 20 turn. No problem

Since I will have a similar question (with a 44mm panerai) How do you measure if you don't have a steam to compare with? Brand new movement, project from scratch.. How to be sure you cut at the good place ?

bah.. everyone need a quartz for hard work Take a Look at the Aquaracer Day/Date if you want a Tag.. or the Carrera.. Probably the best 2 Tag rep.
