Whats the quality like of the RG plating on the HBB
vric replied to DemonSlayer's topic in Other Brands Area
Everyone fear it, no one complain about it... -
Sadly, near $5k USD isn't what I call "cheap".

Well because of By-Tor, I can add NHL 2004 to my list... and I get my ass kicked for the first time in 15 years in an hockey game
-
Dare to explain ? I'm a huge Hockey fan, but since NHL 93, I just can't loose a game. I try every new edition. Every year it's a bit harder to get used to, but I finish the season with 82-0-0 anyway. I still have the 2004 around. For me: Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Assassins Creed are installed on my computer.. But Don't have much time to play.

no need to "explain".. but sharing good deal is always interesting

Then it's for me This model really start to grown in me... damn and I said no more watch this summer.

just for stupid people like me, what is CHF vs USD ?

Rubber strap like leather need time to soften a bit. I always hated rubber and wasn't sure about my HBB when I ordered it. Even the first few weeks, it wasn't comfortable. After a while (2-3 weeks) the rubber is finally as soft as leather and as comfortable. It's still not my favorite strap, but it won't stop me anymore to get a watch with rubber.

Group buy then ?

The movement look Chinese. $60-70 would be a good price. And I got an H3 set from flavor flav. It will fit and he is a good guy to deal with.
-
2yr guarantee yes I would say very good, but I'm used to larger strap than that.. It's definitely real leather.. Very soft. I don't plan to use anything else for now. Definitly better than Rep strap.

updated with 2 new beauty... New (bigger) watch box coming
-
Received this beauty last week. Let's just say wow! Great looking watch. Doesn't seem too small on the wrist. Tourby is awesome to look (I still have no clue how it's working ) Only down side is if there is AR, it's verrrrrrrrrry light. Will have to send this to Chief one day. Overall, great watch. 2 Strap and a Panerai style Box. Impressive Home made Video

When I looked to do the TimeZone watch course, I saw it was possible to do with with a 6497 movement. I imidiatly started to look if it would be possible to turn this course into a Panerai watch. After 4 disassembly, one full service, few bad luck, I finished my project yesterday night. I'm really happy with the result and learn a lot from this project. Even if PAM purist will say it's inaccurate, not perfect, wrong movement etc.. I don't care, I did it the way I wanted it to look and I used the swiss 6497 I had around ;p Most of the parts are from DVN (Case, Crystal with double AR, good lume, hands) and the Strap is a Bob Vertigo. Let me know what you think Now, I will see what I will do with the Chinese 6497 and ETA 2436 I have here

The continued Golden Age of Reps and diversity amoung dealers
vric replied to fotoman's topic in General Discussion
Common.. Josh is a dropshipper. He don't see your watch before sending it. If someone think "I will buy from Josh, I have better chance to get quality" then he is wrong. The only Dealer I can say this, is Angus. When I ordered my HBB, I asked him to change the strap for a flat one. He ordered the strap and installed it for me. This is the only time I can tell I have paid a bit more, but someone took a look at my watch before sending it. The old "choose your dealer, then choose your watch" is still valid. But it all come to the same thing: Do your own homework. If the watch you want is available cheaper from another dealer, then try to see why. Review, compare pics, ask question, etc.. I have delt with few dealer (about 10) and never was disappointed (beside TTK, but that's what happen when you do your homework and still "try it" because he's the only one with the watch you want) -
I feel you. Always have bad history with them. And now, Homer sent me that nice Tourby watch by UPS.. Marking is as a gift with low value.. What is the tracking show today ? A HOLD HAS BEEN REQUESTED. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO RELEASE / THE RECEIVER HAS AGREED TO ACCEPT THE DELIVERY CHARGES Now I'm scared to death to see how much they will ask. And I'm not talking about the fact I should have received it today and the tracking is acting like he have no clue where it is (go from Canada, to US, to Canada, to custom, to airport, to custom again, to airport once again, to ups, to us, to airport again and again.. argggg...) edit: here is a printscreen. it's too funny Watch is back to the airport !

that Ferrari start to gown in me.... damnit

First order: Some item were Out of Stock.. Still waiting for them after 6 weeks ! They also forgot an item, which they shipped to me after I contacted them Second order: They modified it without telling me because an item was OOS. They offer me an exchange, but the shipping + customs fees I have to pay (this is an $100 item) I better forget it.
-
Same for me.. I really like the Classic and Crhonomaster line, but not really the Extreme.. Look like a plastic watch
-
NOTHING !!!! I have spend quite a bit of money lately on watch tools, movement, reps and even a Tourby watch, so I will stop for a while.. LOL and I believe myself
-
I buy movement to work on them.. Best practice and if you screwup, no watch was harmed in the process There is some very cheap asian 6497 around. So is the Chinese copy of ETA 2836. They aren't great movement, but for few buck, you can develop your skill (I started with a real swiss 6497-1.. hopefully nothing bad happened to it and I disassembled it 2 times to finally redo it again with oiling )

oh and btw what's up with all the jackhead post lately? Can a newbie expect an useful reply to his question or all thread will end up in an ironical flame war ?!?
