  1. I currently own a Cartier Roadster GMT black dial in asian 21j. I have to say it is a very classy watch. Recently I bought a Panerai 111h and the Cartier hasn't got as much wristime as it used to, but I think thats because of my fascination with Panerai's The Cartier is definitely a classy/dressy watch, and as pointed out by Victoria, suited for certain people. Here is a wristshot for reference (apologies about the shaky shot)
  2. Ah yea I can see some of the differences now, thanks for that TeeJay By the way, did you get the new one from the same dealer?
  3. Nice watch TeeJay I'm thinking of picking this one up as well, or the Radiomir Blackseal. By the way, can you tell me in what way this one is better than the first? I'm still quite a newbie at Pams and so can't spot these things immediately Thanks.
  4. Today its the Pam 111 on SS, have to say i'm a fan of both leather and SS but Panerai is more suited for leather Need to get my hand to stop shaking so far haven't produced a crystal clear wristshot, do most people here use tripods?
  5. At the end of the day, the actions of those in Sudan who are calling for the teacher's death do not collaborate the teachings of Islam. As TeeJay has pointed out, the message of Islam can be found in the Qu'ran, not by the actions of present day extremists. I myself am not a Muslim. However if someone was to judge my religion based on the actions of the modern so called 'followers' of my faith, I would tell them to study the scriptures of my faith, rather than studying the actions of people who do not follow religion properly. As TeeJay again pointed out and I have to agree with him on this one as well, the UK and US do not really follow the Christianity that Jesus originally preached. Many people call themselves Christian but observe no tenants of the religion whatsover. They don't go to church, observe any religious holidays or fasts, nor do they read the Bible and attempt to learn more about God and the purpose of our lives. They are under the impression that we are here to just enjoy ourselves, and so let's live life to the max and when we die we just become dust in the ground. Now back to the main issue of this topic, the teacher was not soley responsible for the naming of the teddy bear Muhammad. The children or child should be partly to blame for this as well. Her punishment could have been worse as she is living in a country ruled by Sharia Law (though I'm not sure if they are even following that properly) and she did indeed get off lightly. I say study what Islam says about these issues, not what present day so called Muslims say on it, as we all know, not everyone is perfect and many people call themselves adherents of a particular faith and yet do not follow it properly.
  6. I'm still addicted to this beauty: Tommorrow I'll wear my Cartier Roadster GMT:
  7. Yes TeeJay, I agree with you entirely about the real value of these luxury brands. As I mentioned before in a PM with another member of this board, Seiko make fantastic quality watches and for the most part, their watches are not ridiculously over priced. Most of the cost of these brands is brand name, rather than actual materials and anything else. We all know the extent of replica clothing, and footwear for example such as Nike and Adidas. In my opinion this is not really affecting the prestigeousness of these particular brands as their prices are not usually in the 1000's However with Rolex, Panerai, Breitling and the likes, and also handbags as mentioned by Corgi, these are real high end goods.
  8. Yes I understand where you are coming from, but what I mean is if more and more people are seen wearing reps, then the brand will lose prestigiousness because more and more people are wearing them. Let's say for example 1 million people in London bought a decent Rolex Submariner rep, not the tacky low end ones, then this will convince some who see it that it's real. Say this happened with Panerai's, the same thing will happen.
  9. I was thinking that with the ease it is now to purchase reps, especially on auction sites, eventually the gens will begin to lose their value. There are millions of replicas available in China and I imagine thousands must be sent out every week and shipped abroad. As more and more people begin to wear reps, and as the quality of reps are getting higher, I am beginning to think that eventually, it will be common to see people wearing Rolexes, Pams, Breilings etc and with such a good quality that it won't no longer be a big thing. Am I crazy in thinking this?
  10. cheers TeeJay for that one, but im thinking it might be a bit difficult to support the watch using that method. Once i scratched my bottom one I got some blue tack and stuck it around the lug hole on the top hole to avoid getting that one scratched as well Oh TeeJay, that tip you gave me about removing the scratch, that would work if it was brushed but my one is polished Nice PVD 111g by the way
  11. Hey guys, I'm wondering what do all of you guys do to carefully change straps without scratching any lugs or the case by avoiding slippage of the screwdriver. I scratched the bottom lug on my Pam111h on the first day i got it So im hoping to pick up some pointers thanks.
  12. I have bought from China many times, and it usually takes about 7 days as TeeJay mentioned for it to arrive via EMS.
  13. Oh I see, so basically my Panerai has a mineral crystal with a so-called light AR coating which is giving it the blueish tint? I am assuming this is common now with the lower end Panerai reps?
  14. Been wearing this one recently, I'm still a rep newbie, only got 2 at the moment. This Pam 111h and a Cartier Roadster GMT.
  15. I tried the 1 drop test, it did bleed however and not bead I took some quick photos in my kitchen which uses fluorsecent light, hopefully they can shed some light on the question
  16. I think it might be a optical trick. I wil try the single drop of water test on it, thanks Victoria
  17. I bought a Pam 111h for a low price, with a asian unitas movement. I've noticed that the watch crystal gives off a blue tint when it reflects light. is this possible for a mineral crystal, or is the crystal sapphire?
  18. Thanks for all replies, thanks for the link The Zigmeister
  19. Thanks flamemax, that was very helpful. This is my first Panerai, and I have to say it has made quite an impression on me. Do any Pam experts here know how accurate it is in terms of looks? Also, is the movment a good one? **EDIT - How many times do I have to full turn the crown to fully wind it, and how long does the watch remain wound? Does winding have to be done on a daily basis?
  20. I bought a Panerai 111h recently, and I'm a bit confused in how to wind it because I thought it was a manual wind, but when I shake the watch, or wear it on my wrist, the second hand begins to tick like a regular automatic watch. Is this possible for the panerai 111h? Also, when I pull out the crown in the first click, and I turn the crown toward me, I can see the gears in the back click and move, but when I turn the crown the opposite way nothing happens. When I pull the crown out all the way, I can set the time. Pics are below:
